  • Project three finished - Mothering Sunday gifts from my grandchildren to their mothers.

I simply backstitched over their own handwriting then they stitched the buttons on. I'm especially pleased with the fancy frame as it was an old gold mirror which I transformed after doing a paint techniques workshop. It's far nicer than I'd ever imagined! :D

What a brilliant idea - one I may "borrow". You're right - the frame is perfect
  • greentiger Yes it has been a bit quiet but what is great is that when people do pop in it is always with updates on some wonderful makes. What a fabulous variety of crafts there are displayed in our Flickr group.

I've been as guilty as anyone and am really looking forward to the long weekend when I have 2 "free" days to split between chores and stitching. Which should have the most time i wonder.........

I have updated the Flickr group with my latest finishes. I made the little ballet dancer into a cushion as planned. Rubbish photo but I didn't have much time before it was taken away

I made some Mother's Day csrd kits for my DS's Sunday school class - it was a rush job as he only asked me on the Saturday so I had to use what I could find in my stash. These are the samples

I also completed the cross stitching on a little Easter sheep design - it's stitched on some Polstitches hand dyed fabric and I haven't decided how to finish it yet as I want to keep quite a bit of the fabric showing.

Other than these projects I have been working on things which will take longer to finish as 2 of them are year long monthly SALs and one is a large Mirabilia design which isn't getting as much attention as she deserves.

Hope everyone has a lovely Easter - keep those chocolate eggs away from your stitching :p

You're so right, fos. The range of crafts we are seeing is amazing. And so many take a lot of time to complete.

You've been a busy lady yourself. I fell in love with your wee sheep - we had 2 sheep in the garden yesterday. They're quite big but easy to shoo away (through someone else's garden and back to their field and friends).

I got my Easter cards made up this morning - phew! Just in time!

Hoping to make better progress and annoy you all rather more regularly, lol.

Keep posting your lovely creations, everyone (and have a Happy Easter).

Thank you. I love your Easter cards

The sheep pattern was a freebie - one of a monthly set

There are loads of freebie designs on this site and it also has the useful function of allowing you to search by category such as Easter or birthday

Thank you, fos, for the link. I might look into that - but I'll have to buy fabric. I've plenty of threads.

I enjoyed doing the stitching - it's been a very long time since I did any cross stitch. I have that tapestry to do that I got in the charity shop, so I might get it out ......

I did look at that site, fos - it's scarily tempting, a brilliant resource; thanks for sharing.

Well my April cardmaking continues apace.

Here's a retirement card that, I think, reflects my friend's zaniness and carefree spirit. She will definitely be proud to grow old disgracefully! :)

The next is a wedding card for my son and future DIL. It's a bit different from usual. She lost her parents as a teenager and she still misses them every day (she's 33 now). The wedding will take place at the same venue as her parents chose. I managed to get a pic of her parents on their wedding day for this special project and used the same card as I used for the wedding stationery.

That leaves a couple of birthday cards for this month, plus anything that comes up unexpectedly.

    Happy crafting!

Finally got to finish some makes. I've put a couple of photos on the Flickr group as I still can't post them on mse off my iPad
Finished two "one hundred years from now" cross stitches they just need framing, put another photo of blanket up for expected grandchild, made a little matinee jacket for a work friends sister who's having a little girl late this month.mworking on a little dress for her now to use up the wool.

  • Yes I know it is 5am, but have been awake since 3. Old back problem flares up again.
Well going through your news & pics is nice to do at any hour & might as well update on my makes.
Made 2 new dresses for DGD1 but forgot to take photos. Am halfway through bomboniere (favours) for baptism of DGD2, they are mini matinee jackets crocheted in pink cotton. Have been doing the cards to go with them too. Chose a photo of her smiling to inset on the front. Spent the evening cutting & sticking & smiling back at her cute little face. Have almost finished her gown, that was a big project, knitted in fine cotton on no.12 needles, now embroidering bodice & hem. One month to go to the ceremony. Got to finish brocade waistcoats for her 2 brothers & hopefully a dress for myself. Can't wait to fly out to hug those grandkids again.

commutergranny, those bonbonnieres sound so original. My children had a knitted (2 ply) Christening gown too (my best friend made it; she still knits 2 ply shawls) - it was so fine! My DD was first born and the gown had white and pink lace trims. We took them off when it was my DS's turn and replaced them with little blue flower trims. And so it has remained ever since (1979)! None of my grandkids has needed it.

Talking of grandkids, my eldest will be 7 next week, so here's his card.

Well, this is absolutely the last thing I'm making for the wedding on Friday - a postbox to hold cards they receive on the day so they don't get lost.

17044448496_3c272a408b_m.jpgwedding postbox by r.doctor, on Flickr

We're off to the Cairngorms for a wee break after the wedding, so although I'll be watching what's happening here, I won't be working on any challenges. Apart from 1 more card for April and those for May, I haven't decided what I'm going to do next. Actually, does tidying up the craft room count? That's a REAL challenge.
