The number that shows on her bill is clearly identifiable against Whatsapp (ie you do a search on google and it confirms this). I don't have direct access to my partner's online bills at the moment but will access on the weekend.

This is the bit that I don't understand. There should be no number identifiable against whatsapp. Perhaps you could give us this number so that we can see what you are meaning?
I think it is important however to note the pattern of the charges. None for several months of usage, then charges throughout June, August and September. None in July and none in October. After October there aren't (and apologies for not mentioning it sooner) even any references to this number on bills.

Whatsapp doesn't use a number and none of the wahtsapp texts I send ever show up on my bill. Whatsapp uses data, either mobile or WiFi.
What I do know is that with user errors these would have resulted in consistent charges and the pattern of charges makes no sense. You are either using something incorrectly or not.

No it is possible for someone to have texted you from abroad without using whatsapp and then for you to have replied. This would be a normal text message but chargeable as your allowance doesn't cover international texts.

That's why I'm asking you to check from within your whatsapp app and your normal messaging app.

Can it be that normal texts sent incorrectly were not charged because of the texts allowance, and only infrequent long texts (converted to MMS by the phone) and international texts were charged?

Well OP, what did you find out after checking Whatsapp and the normal messaging app?

Unfortunately with the lack of update over the weekend when the OP was going to come back to answer questions after checking his partner's account, I suspect there has been user error involved.

However hopefully the OP will still return.

Of course there was user error involved. Whatsapp data is data. End of story.

I had that thought a week ago and asked him about user error (and also to post up the bill so others could see exactly what it showed), it appears to have really offended him as he must have reported my post and it's being deleted (along with his slightly catty response).

    Somewhere before post #38.

Yes I'd noticed some questions hadn't been answered for 1 reason or another.
