Ukpc - sorry another question

Options
I'm confused about what I should do with a 'Parking Notice' stuck on my windscreen with a 'parking charge' print out inside by UKPC. I've read the threads etc but still not sure!

I work at the Metro Centre in Gateshead and while there is no designated staff car park, we are encouraged to park in the coach park. Today I didn't park in the coach park but in one of the main car parks. I parked perfectly in a correct bay. The print out gives a reason of 'staff member parked in no staff parking area'. How do they know I'm a member of staff? I could have been shopping on a day off as far as they're aware! I'm the registered owner but My mum is insured to drive my car so it could have been her using the car.

There are photographs, apparently, of my car. Small print on the back of the print out says operating in accordance with the British Parking Association Code of Practice.

Do I ignore this? Do I pay the £30 within 2 weeks which doubles thereafter. Do I appeal using a MSE template (which I can't find). Sorry for all the questions but I'm getting stressed :(

  • A picture of the sign would be helpful, they claim that is a contract, what does the contract on the sign say about.
Members of staff parking in a non staff area.
    Ill have a guess "nothing"
but clarification of the sign would be useful.

It's a small sign on a wall that has about 6 do's and dont's listed, including an exclamation mark with 'no staff parking' next to it. I didn't know this sign existed until today! So reading this back I guess they have me there.

But, I could have been on a day off or my mum could have been using my car.

Edited to add that customers can park in the coach car park
  • They never have you, as it is just an invoice at best.
Is this sign actually a ukpc sign with the full contract they have on the other signs written upon it.

  • As a new member it won't allow me to paste or copy links. There is a good pic on Google - Ukpc parking sign metro centre (first pic that comes up)
  • In that case await the NTK by post.
Come back when they send the Notice to keeper.

Until then at the top of this forum is a sticky post called newbies, this has all the info required.

  • Thank you very much marktheshark! Really appreciate your help.

I'll await the NTK - is it then you'd advise I use a template from MSE? Sorry for all the questions

    @debs1505, follow Mts's advice above.

To upload a photo/scan, you first need to host it on a free photo hosting site (Photobucket or Tinypic, for example), copy the URL, paste it here, but change the http to hxxp (or remove it all together) and we'll do the conversion.

Newbies can't directly upload photos/scans until they've got a few posts under their belt.

@debs1505 - further - here's a link just from today to give you confidence that UKPC can be quite easily 'sorted' with a bit of effort on your part and a bit of guidance from forum regulars.

Don't forget we're here for you and on the same side, even though some of us can appear a bit 'tetchy' at times (not me, of course :rotfl:).

Nonetheless, we'll help you get through this!

  • Ha ha!! I get very tetchy from time to time!!! Thank you so much nice again.
Hope you don't mind one more question :) how do they know where to send NTK? I'm presuming they have to contact the dvla which will no doubt cost them?

Great result on the above link :T
