Parking charge - Leisure Park Stevenage - UKPC

Hi,
I've learned a lot reading the threads on appealing parking charges and here's my dilemma.
On the one hand, I'm conscious I don't have much of a leg to stand on (I genuinely made a mistake as I parked the car for 5 hours and left the retail park without shopping)... on the other hand:
a) the car park was pretty empty and I'm pretty sure there was no "loss of business" for the retailers
b) It makes me feel as if we live in a police state the thought that there might be CCTV footage spotting me whilst I leave the retail park... fair enough plate number recognition technology, but being monitored without my consent and snooped upon it's one step too far. These guys have probably no evidence I left the retail park, but that's what they've written on the PCN slapped on the windscreen
c) I went on the UKPC website as I was considering paying the charge and get over it, but the arrogance that was oozing on their "legalities" page left me speechless (sorry, I can't post web links... just type the following preceeded by the 3w's: ukparkingcontrol.com/parking-legalities) sheer terrorism with "case histories" of people that went through the appeal process only to lose hundreds of pounds in court... these creeeps must be stopped!
Any piece of advice for me, please?
Thanks in advance!

Read the Sticky thread for NEWBIES at the top of the main Motoring - Parking Tickets page. This tells you everything you need to know about how to beat this parking ticket without having to pay a penny.
Do not pay, do not ignore, do not reveal who was driving unless it was a hire/lease car. Do not contact the parking company until you receive the NTK.

Have a read of the UKPC links there and see what people achieve every week simply by sending the template first appeal from the NEWBIES thread. You too will be telling us soon that apparently UKPC made an 'admin error' and so they have cancelled it in the interests of 'goodwill'!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I had a ticket cancelled recently by this same firm. Do not pay it! As said previously have a read of the newbie thread and send them the appeal template letter word for word.0

Thanks everyone for your advice and encouragement, I'll follow the instructions and take up the fight! :-) Fingers crossed...

Hi everyone,
just to let you know that I followed the procedure recommended on the newbies thread and have recently received a letter from UKPC reporting that - following an "investigation" - my appeal has been endorsed and the parking charge has been cancelled!
a HUGE thanks you to this Forum and those of you that kindly provided assistance and support!
cheers

Well done. It's good of you to come back to update us, so many, to whom we give freely of our time to help them with their problem, don't have the decency to give us feedback, so thank you.following an "investigation" - my appeal has been endorsed and the parking charge has been cancelled
Makes a change from 'administrative error' and the cringeworthy 'gesture of goodwill'!
Glad you've got shot of this and you can get on with celebrating the coming New Year.
As a bit of a 'payback' to forum regulars, please do something for us! Just tell your friends and family, and if you're a social meejah sort, post there, about how to beat this stuff.
Happy New YearPlease note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
