Hello all!Room for one more?
I joined my SW group (again) last night. All 4 of the "newbies" were returning members who had fallen off the wagon.
Our consultant was bigger than ever, but told us it had taken her 6 years to regain her weight! Well that's OK then. She has never been very inspiring I'm afraid.
Anyway, to be positive, with the support of all you lovely people and the members of my group with their handy tips I will soon be back to my target weight.
I may not post a lot, but I will be reading with interest.0 -

Oh bloomers existed alright. Most of the teachers at my school seemed to wear them, and an inelegant lot they must have been otherwise how would we have seen them!
These were the closest I could find in case anyone fancies buying a pair!

I seem to remember they were called Harvest Festival knickers: all is safely gathered in!:rotfl:
Well done on your home made soup. Your menu looks pretty close to EESP. I'm not sure of your soup recipe but if you added some pulses (lentils? beans?) for protein that would be a SP meal in itself.
Welcome djenks. Don't worry, you've made a start.:) Why not post a few menus on here then we can help if you're going wrong anywhere.
I looked up that stuff about the S & P HEBs. I think if you took on all the 'advice' that's coming out at the moment then SW would be more and more like a diet and less of the Healthy Eating plan they're so proud of. What you're looking at is some Ryvita, Hi-Fi/Alpen Lights or some selected stewed fruit. I suppose it's worth knowing what the 'best' choices are but it's potentially very restrictive.
I watched Part 2 of the programme tonight (missed Part 1). I found it interesting in parts. I think we all knew there's a psychological element to weight gain but I wouldn't want anyone just giving up on losing because it's 'genetic'. It'll be interesting to hear what they say about the metabolism argument tomorrow. Some good tips. I liked the write a shopping list and stick to it :money:and see it as a challenge not to fall for the advertising traps (especially true of junk and processed food where most of the offers are). I was also interested in the exercise increasing with the challenge of a pedometer argument too. AND, it helps to have on line support!!! Well we all knew that didn't we!!!:A
Maman the reason we knew what knickers our teachers were wearing was that the elastic in the legs would get loose with time
and then they would show beneath the skirt. Our gym teacher was always hiking hers up and earn`t the nickname Droopy Drawers.Slimming World at target0 -
I've just looked at the SW website and at one point it says "tuck into 2 Ryvita spread with Quark"
Has anyone ever "tucked into" a Ryvita?
Maybe I'm in a strange mood, but I just thought it was funny

Not great but about what I deserved, I suppose all the overeating this week has given me some pointers to how to maintain if I ever reach target.
I'm also realising that little treats aren't really the way for me, quite easy to eat the allowed 5 celebrations (10 syns) and then a few more and then some more, whereas if I'd just eaten something larger like a Crunchie (9 syns) I wouldn't likely go and eat another one. But it's a theory I'm not about to test too much, or I'll be back next week saying I ate a pack of crunchies.
Yesterday I stuck to plan perfectly, I took my chocolate syns to group and then ate nothing when I got home, my scales are 2lbs lighter since yesterday. So I'm going to give the plan a good go this week I think or try to.
I'm thinking about giving blood tomorrow, that'll be a pound lost! I'd assume there were some benefits to weight loss, burning calories to replenish your stocks.
 Jock as much as I want to lose a pound think giving up my blood is a step to far for me, well done though its a worthy cause. I used to be a blood donor but apparently became unacceptable as a donor when I returned from a year in Africa, cheeky sods.Slimming World at target0 -
Dear only knows re the tinned sweetcorn! Not heard that one before. I always take everything out of the tin and give it a good rinse before using. I've discovered tinned mushrooms and have converted to those they re probably bad as well! !:rotfl:
I'm glad my knickers are such cause of amusement you lot!!
I have gotten better though, I'm down to size 16's now all the 18s and 20s are gone to bloomer heaven. Still wrong when my derriere is a size 10 but eventually the remaining buckets will be evicted! BEG be ruthless start evicting now or you ll end up like me!!
I find it hard to buy knickers I like, I need something to keep the belly in and don't like a thong but want something half decent looking.............seems impossible M&S used to do good ones but the selection is not as good as they were.
Shala - Having a similar week to you, been good, no weekend alcohol and been to the gym 3 times and looks like I'm heading for a sts or small gain.
Mrs Ryan - Good to see you, have you changed your target? Your menu looks good for yesterday
Meg - Hows the dating going? Are you still in target range and collecting your fivers?
Hi lovely dating is going fine, haven't actually been to meet anyone yet but now have a whole list of those I wont be meeting,
have been writing to one since Christmas Eve that could be promising, but hes out of the country until next month and old cynic that I am I am wondering if I will get a request for plane fare?
Yes still in target but only just, my fivers are in peril .Slimming World at target0 -

Talking of inappropriate convos, I had a lentil curry last night and I was trumping like a good 'un on the treadmill this morning. I felt quite sorry for the other people at the gym. Need to consider more carefully my menus the night before my runs!
I've also been watching that which diet is right for you program, interesting to hear that there are actual reasons for people putting on weight, for years people have been claiming that and others have denied it. The gut thing is particularly interesting, I do find I get hungry again really quickly if I have a carb heavy meal.
Had a sneaky couple of vodka lime and sodas yesterday lunchtime. Felt very sugary, so think I'll revert to rum and diet coke next time for less syns. Menus:
yesterday:
b: porridge, apple cinnamon (heb.hea,3syns)
l: 2 x vodka lime and soda (??)massive salad w/ ham and eggs
d: lentil and courgette curry, aloo gobi, rice
s: alpen light bar (4 syns)
today:
pre breakfast: banana, ham
b: porridge, apple cinnamon (heb.hea,3syns)
l: lentil and courgette curry, aloo gobi, rice, 0% yoghurt
d: nandos!
Oh bless lovely who was talking about inappropriate subjects, its what I love about this thread so many good hearts and sense of humour.
Have to agree its wise to consider menu depending on what your plans are though, unless I plan on staying in I don't have lentil curry, mushy peas and bean soup, unless I feel like having the bus to myself though.Slimming World at target0 -

I was just about to agree with you (as the knickers I like were discontinued) but I googled to find the name. My favourites are back in stock!!:j:j:j I ordered three packs and I'll be collecting them on Saturday and then all the old rubbish is destined for the bin.:DLucy_Lastic wrote: »I've just looked at the SW website and at one point it says "tuck into 2 Ryvita spread with Quark"

I know, I know. It also says 'If you're hankering for a banana go right ahead!'. Oh come on, have you ever hankered after a banana??? A bag of chip shop chips, yes, but a banana!!!
lush why don't you do a bit of batch cooking for busy nights? I always have some Bolognese sauce and chilli in the freezer, frozen in 2 portion packs for nights when I'm in a hurry. If I have a late meeting I phone DH when I'm leaving to put the pasta/rice on.
I'm back on plan today. It's EE but leaning heavily towards EESP.
B: NAS Ribena, 2 fried eggs, HEB toast, HEA milk for teas
L: slice of ham, stir fried vegbaked smoked cod, cauli/broccoli cheese, roast carrots/new potatoes
Syns: scrape of spread, cheese sauce
Cheese sauce is quite synful but I'm not going to WI this week so treating us.0 -
Its a nightmare going down through the sizes in everything but you'll be happy at the end. I didn't spend too much on the way down and bought trousers etc for work out of Primark. I've now managed to build up a half decent wardrobe but it has taken ages!! Knickers def next on the list to get decent supplies built up!
A person I know has lost over 4 stone doing the 5:2 diet, but she didn't want to buy new clothes until she'd lost 2 more stone. Trouble is, her big clothes are now very baggy on her, and you can't really tell how much slimmer she is. When she finally gets to target and buys new clothes, no-one will recognise her!
I'm not going to have that problem as I have a cupboard full of clothes to slim into. The one thing I know I'll need to buy are new bras as the ones I'm wearing now are already getting loose and I didn't keep any of those.
Jocks I used to give blood and you do lose weight initially but it's soon replaced as the body makes it up with fluids. That's why they tell you to have a drink before you leave.
Meg - the blood donor people have got more and more fussy over the years, for good reason I expect, but in my case I had to stop because I had a malignant melanoma removed. I never required further treatment or developed further symptoms but they won't take donations anymore.
Welcome to the new people, feel free to ask questions, there are some very knowledgeable people here who will help.
