I think that I am on ADSL2+ Already - my upload speed has been 1Mb+ for the last 3 years +
But will this mean that TTR will be able to fibre me ?
The problem appears to be that TTR do not know what they are talking about .....
If fibre is available at your address (check here using the address option) then of course TTR can upgrade you to fibre after you go live on their ADSL2+ service. That might be the best way to keep your tel number...0 -
Out of interest - I live 1.5km from the exchange and can only connect at 4Mb - which to me, implies that I am not on ADSL2+ already - what do you think ?0

That proves it
Fibre IS available at my address
Everything points towards me being on ADSL standard - with ALL the options now being available to me.......

FTTC Range B (Impacted)
WBC ADSL 2+
WBC ADSL 2+ Annex M
ADSL Max
WBC Fixed Rate

Didn't you already say your upload is >1Mb, which suggests ADSL2+, if you access your router stats you should be able to determine what you are currently on, it may be the 4Mb download is a limit imposed by TT fixed rate may be something TT business use, or perhaps your wiring isn't all it could be0 -

You might be able to tell if you are on ADSL2+ if you look at your router stats and look for modulation mode
Modulation: G.992.5 = ADSL2+
Modulation: G.992.3 = ADSL2
Modulation: G.992.1 = ADSL1 (otherwise known as ADSLMax or MaxDSL)
My current router does not show modulation mode but my previous one did.
Whilst looking at the stats make a note of downstream attenuation and enter it in here to see what speed your line is capable of.0 -
Try ringing another fibre provider (like Sky) and ask them if you'd lose your number if you move talk & fibre to them -there's some really good offers at the moment too for moving talk to Sky as well as fibre deals.
They'll do a dummy order -and it will clearly state if you can keep your number or not before getting to the confirm point of the order.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
I have had it confirmed by TTB that I am on ADSL2+ already
So I am awaiting an explanation from the CEO's office as to why I can upgrade to fibre and keep my phone number, with TTB but not TTR - I reckon that it is purely financial. in that they think that they can screw more money out of me, through TTB than TTR.....0 -
I seem to remember it's a lot easier to go through BT if you want to keep the number.
It's not that bad, get £125 Sainsburys voucher, plus Quidco cashback if available. Then move on when the one year contract is up. Don't forget Line Rental Saver, of course.0 -

BT messed me around when I moved in to my present property 15 years ago and also when I moved away from BT to TT - Each time, I lost my phone line for over 2 weeks - I vowed to steer clear of BT !!0 -

TBH by paying more to TTB you get a far superior service to TTR:
1) Top class Warrington based phone support on a par with the likes of Zen, IDNET, AAISP et al but without the eye watering prices
2) Priority at the exchange over TTR users at busy times
3) Free Static ip addresses on TTB
4) Advanced tel line features free of charge on TTB eg call waiting, ringback, conference calling etc
That said, TTR is good value for money providing you stay away from their phone support and use the forum for any issues.0
