Well I'm quite pleased to have stayed the course despite several social events where alcohol was flowing, including a Burns Night event where the Wee Drams were on generous supply. However we have friends coming for dinner on Saturday night and as they are alcohol drinkers I suspect they might feel rather uncomfortable if they're drinking and we are not. So I suspect we will grant ourselves a dispensation for the remaining few hours.

i'm not sure I feel any healthier for having abstained but maybe my liver was grateful for a rest.

I am still here and on the wagon. I have cut out all sugar which has helped enormously with the cravings for alcohol.
I think I was craving the sugar in the alcohol more than the alcohol itself.

Blimey. The Burns Night do must have been tough. My work lawyers go to one and they all came in sozzled the next day.

You could always start the night later and have the first drop at midnight ;)

Well done all (inc me!) - it's been hard and I feel a bit like I do a few weeks into a diet, that I'm somehow 'missing' something. Yes I do drink the sake of it a lot of the time, and I hope this changes my attitude towards drinking/alcohol, but I am looking forward to being able to have a drink when I like (within moderation!) again :)

No drinking for me either. I thought I'd lose a bit of weight but I seem to have stayed exactly the same...

Me too. Not an ounce lost. Bit of a disappointment really considering we're always being reminded of the empty calories in alcohol but there were a lot of other christmas leftovers to finish so perhaps not a fair assessment.
  • Well done everyone.

I think its quite an achievement for us all........even my OH who although he has had a few drinks, hasnt indulged as much as usual because he hasnt got his drinking partner.

Cant say as I feel significantly healthier but have lost a couple of pounds and saved a few quid.

Having wine left from Christmas for this long just never happens in our house and I am going to pick the nicest......shove it in the fridge and look forward to a couple of glasses Sunday night.

Promise I wont drink the whole bottle :D

I've lot 3lbs :) But I think that's from cutting out all sugar, not just alcohol.
  • I'm still here as well - I am surprised a little that it wasn't as difficult as I thought - some nights coming home from work, I would have poured myself a large glass - but haven't.
No weight lost either, alcohol being replaced by chocolate. But I am only half way through, having to have a dry February as well - then husband shaves off his revolting beard! Am I going to be a lone voice on this thread?
  • Aw carol......thats a bummer.

I might come on once a week and put what alcohol I have had as when seen wriiten down keeps you more aware of how many you are having.
