Their systems will show you are still owed money.
I would send them a letter before court action for the balance.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
I remember getting a credit note that looked like a receipt from M&S, it was quite a few years ago, and as I went to put it in my purse the assistant told me not to fold it. I made sure I spent it asap, partly to avoid losing it altogether as it looked just like an ordinary receipt, and partly because it was clearly fragile on such flimsy paper.
M&S really need sorting out. At busy times like Christmas, hundreds of these credit notes must surely become lost or damaged in purses or wallets.
And as for the goods, if you don't get a gift receipt with the present, the unlucky recipient will probably only get sale price if they try to return it with no receipt. Not much magic and sparkle in that.
Do you still have the food receipt? Won't that show there was a gift receipt given at the end of the transaction?“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
I do have the food receipt advising the revised credit note was issued but they are hiding behind their T&C.
When i advised the manager i would make my opinions public on the internet he played the ARE you now THREATENING Me card and asked me to leave the store.
I am sixty years of age,he was early Thirties i beg the question what are they doing to their customers,i have e mailed their MD Bolland but do not expect a response if the store manager and their customer services are anything to go by,wow things have changed0 -
I hope they resolve it for you. £50 is a lot to lose. x“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0

Go to the press. It seems they won't do anything.

The point is, it's not even costing them £49 to replace it. The goods you will purchase are probably worth £20 to them given the mark up.
But it may be that they are willing to win the battle and lose the war.0
