Head out to Thruxton, if they're still doing it there, you can get a lap with Tiff Needell driving like a madman in an M3.

Your son has been properly ripped off! Salesman has had a very good end to the year! At best he will break even on that, but most likely it will be a hefty loss when he comes to sell.

Hardly, The M3 CSL is going up in value!

He has purchased for £40k - i really don't see it going up in value from that starting point. But good luck to him :)

Its odd I know that some cars appreciate in value but it does happen with certain models and marques mine has gone up in value by 5k in that last year based on a couple of recent offers, and I think the CSL will be a sound investment as long as he doesn't bend it.

  • I still do not understand why that car is worth so much when it has little amenities inside. A normal 3 series of that age has thrice to office at tenth of the price. I mean, I'm not even sure whether it has a radio inside. It's also annoyingly loud at start up and whilst driving. He let me test drive it today and although I was going slow (kept it at 30 mpg max), I could tell it was clearly an extremely powerful car and I admit, it did feel something quite special to drive...but still, £36,00 for a 11 year old car with absolutely NO luxury???!!!!!!! My VW Golf, which is 5 years newer is much more luxurious and comfortable to that ridiculous car.

Glad to know it holds its value and my son hasn't taken out a loan or got it on finance or any of that mumbo jumbo...thank god.

OP, you should see the price of a Formula 1 car. It doesn't even have a radio or passenger seats! Your Golf is so much better.

Having had a look on Pistonheads, the cheapest private sale is £31k whilst the most expensive is £46k. Therefore £36k seems to be a fair price for a CSL. I don't see how the OP's son has been ripped off. It seems the price he's paid is within the boundaries of the market value.

Very astute investment - guaranteed not to depreciate.
