morning all, had a little blitz last night while the squids were in the bath - hoovered all upstairs and I took out the stargate upstairs as smallest is 2 now and about as safe as they ever get on the stairs - its been open for the last 4 months really, I've only been shutting it to trap her upstairs at bath time:rotfl: Feels sad though, its one of the last few 'baby' things left in use. We won't have any more babies, but I always feel a bit wistful that this stage in our lives is passing. I need to get over it and live in the moment
Anyway, the consequence of the stargate removal is that the landing now feels huge and uncluttered :j
I also got a lot of sewing done yesterday so I'm feeling pretty chuffed about that. Got some admin jobs on today, paperwork is definitely well overdue - still haven't quite finished that pesky tax return........ ribbit ribbit........., need to book a hair appt and some helpline shifts on my days off - I've got lots of study days for work through jan and feb so I need to sort some school pick ups and book some toil.0 -
Mamaninie I remember the feeling of saddness that the baby days were over, there are loads of fun times ahead though so take heart.
Shower had, WM on, kittens shut away (they are starting to be pests in the ktichen and think every meal is for them so spend the whole time hurling themselves at my legs).
DS3 is supposed to be in shower, was hoping to head out by 10:30 so need to start hurrying him along. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

agree wholeheartedly. My little un is 21! But they constantly natter about this or that when they were kids, so hopefully we didn't do too badly.
Booked 4 rooms for family trip to my sister's 50th. Have been mean and not booked breakfast, but it is near a Mcdonalds and a Costa......
Now to chivvy peeps to renew railcards so I can get some cheaper tickets..
Just looked at CC balance. Oh dear. Time to get my head out of the clouds and get something done about it. I have been living in cloud cuckoo land for far too long.:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Back at work today, but stopped for a brief cuppa and catchup!
One of the things I’m going to add to my daily list is a declutter item. A number of you have mentioned decluttering each day, and I think it’s a great idea, someone (sorry, can’t recall who) mentioned a “2015 in 2015” which works out to be about 5-6 items per day. That’s what I’m going to aim for. We’re planning on moving house this year, and I do not want a repeat of the last time we moved house (11yrs ago and heavily pregnant), whereby we merely moved everything and didn’t have the energy/chance to get rid of some of the extraneous stuff.
Friday Hall, stairs, landing and office spaces
15 minutes ....
Eat a frog - can't do it in 15, then take a big chunk out of it or forget the 30 minute jobs.
Got 30 minutes....
Clear your desk and give it a good wipe
15 minutes filing/paperwork sorting/flinging
Empty the bins
Got an hour .........
Hoover and Mop all these areas
Dust all the skirting boards
Dust the lighshade (make sure the bulbs are off - I stuck a microfibre mitt to a hot bulb earlier)
Wipe any marks from the walls
Put away anything on the stairs or landing
Extras
The pile of stuff you have been meaning to sort for ages - now is the time
Update your Christmas card list when you take your cards down, add in that illusive child's name, make a list of people to contact this month to catch up; make a note in your diary for October as to where you have put the cards you bought in the sale.
Personal Extra / Extras
Do my nails (that is if the Boots delivery ever turns up. Bought some nail varnish in the sales to be delivered to store on 31/12, still no word – bit of a shame, as one of the colours is sparkly and was for NYE, rather than cold, miserable grey January … on the flipside, it may be just what I need to help combat the January blues!)
Get DH to put up a pin for DD’s calendar in her room
Declutter 11 items (5 from yesterday, 6 for today)
Fold the laundry which is looking more like the Alps than ever on the spare bed, and put away the non-ironing
Ask DH to pick up the ironing and get everyone to put their ironing away
Go for a walk, even if only up the road, to get some fresh air (my goal is to actually do 10,000 steps each day, but I’ll settle for 2000 today!)
Wash the bedlinen … changed it just before NY, for the cat to traipse muddy footprints all over it …. On the upside, I’ll be able to put on the new sheet and pillows I bought in the JL sale :jGC - March 2024 -0 -

Sorry you feel so ill Frizzle. I hope you feel better soon.
I'm hoping to get loads done today as I'm on my own for the afternoon.
I want to:
[strike]Vacuum upstairs[/strike]
Dust/wet wipe upstairs
Vacuum stairs
[strike]Strip the beds and launder the bedding[/strike]
[strike]Vacuum downstairs[/strike]
[strike]Steam clean kitchen, veranda and bathroom floors[/strike]
[strike]Steam clean bathroom[/strike]
Steam clean cooker
[strike]I need to fit in grocery shopping somewhere.[/strike]
I have:
Bagged all the household rubbish the bin men wouldn't take and that's gone up the tip.
De furred my best coat (I took it away with me and it came back covered in dog hairs).
Moved the furniture back to where it should be. My son had a bit of a lads night on on Sunday night and one of his friends has to use a wheelchair so he moved the furniture so he could get from room to room.
Compiled a shopping list.
Cleaned out my fridge/freezer.
Emptied and cleaned my vacuum cleaners.
The house is minging. It looks as though a million people have gone through it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I should probably be on the declutter thread but that would mean going to the trouble of finding it.Dustykitten wrote: »Shower had, WM on, kittens shut away (they are starting to be pests in the ktichen and think every meal is for them so spend the whole time hurling themselves at my legs).
Thank you both for my first laughs of the day.mummyroysof3 wrote: »We have discovered that the loft room we had done in the summer wasn't done right and needs to be ripped out and done again...gutted and upset
Gut wrenching for you. OH is insisting we're about to have some work done in ours so I have lofts on the mind, but I have a feeling yours was a more expensive version of what we're intending. Empathic vibes heading your way.
Ground floor and top layer dy$oned, and five runs of stairs. Both downstairs bedrooms dusted, DW run through clean cycle, bins emptied, last lot of spag bol ruminating in the slow cooker. I'm going to have to go and get some more sunflower hearts, they are by far and away the most popular bird feed at the moment in the garden. Sunny here, no wind. Lovely.Better is good enough.0 -
Don't you lose track of what day it is. When i got up and put Bbc Breakfast on, it wasn't there, it was the football hight
lights from yesterday so i thought it was Sunday.
I've been for a walk to the Chemist to pick up a prescription. I should have got it Christmas Eve but it wasn't there. The time before they told me i needn't go the Doctors it would all come through automatically, but it was to late to go back to the doctors.
After lunch i'm going to put Christmas stuff back on top of the waedrobe.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
