You've all inspired me bird-wise! I do feed them sporadically - but I have put a squirrel proof seed feeder out for the last few months and none has been taken :( I think it might be in too much of an exposed position. I might move it a bit nearer the trees and see if they go for it.

If it's been out there for a while and untouched it's quite likely the food in it is contaminated by damp. It could be worthwhile emptying it, washing it out with washing up liquid, rinsing and drying it thoroughly before refilling it. I've made that mistake more than once, thinking the feeder was okay when I could see it was two thirds full until I actually looked at them carefully and discovered the contents were a bit nasty.

Just look at what you started Ionafan and Narco! All this bird stuff is fabulous - thank you both so much.

JulieJim, CS it all. You'll feel so much better with the stuff out of the house, all 'worthy' at your own generosity, relieved it's not longer staring at you demanding you do something about it, and frankly, unless money is very tight and your stuff goes for megabucks, The Bay of E is not that financially rewarding any more. I had a horrible experience with someone this year and as a result the local hospice shop has had some really good stuff. The statement showing how much extra money OH (the taxpayer in this household) had raised with his Gift Aid was far, far more rewarding than a few quid in my bank account.

Dusty, if the kittens were clean and are now not, it's quite likely that they're displaying their stress at being merged with the older cats. They won't use a litter tray if it's in a place they feel makes them vulnerable.

Which brings me on to something you said, Dusty, on Christmas Eve and I was intending to say on New Year's Eve, but I'm aware that quite a lot of people will be very busy tomorrow getting ready for parties and sweeping out the old etc etc. I just wanted to say that Flyladies are the best, the absolute best, bunch of people, and I consider myself very lucky to be part of this lovely group. Thank you so much for being fabulous, one and all.

And, after two and a half years of flying I may finally be in a position to start compiling a Toots list. I've been playing catch-up for so long it just hasn't been worthwhile - every drawer, every cupboard, every inch of storage space in this house was stuffed full of 'stuff' and it's only now that the place is showing some signs of being slightly organised, although I use that word in the loosest and vaguest of ways.

That's a very long, roundabout way of saying that the thing that I love most about being a Flylady is that I think I am beginning to feel that I have some control over some areas of my life and I cannot thank you all, every single one of you, for helping me to come this far. I really was exhausted by coping with the overwhelming chaos, defeated by being saddled with generations of junk and depressed by my inability to get to grips with it.

Now I feel free! Thank you all, Flyladies past and present, so much.

    Thanks Honeybear

I've come downstairs for a sit down as I'm not feeling too good but I need to finish our BR today. I think I've overdone it after feeling ill for so long. It's not very often that something knocks me off my feet like this cough and cold has.

Anyway I've filled a CS bag from under the bed and moved things around a bit so I can fit some of the new stuff under there. I just need to remember it's there or it won't get used.

  • HB that was a fantastic post and I second every word of it. No-one here cares whether the house is a mess or not but I know that my flylady friends care (even if you have never seen my house) and that's what spurs me on.

Just back from a manic morning at work so I am going to have an hour on the sofa with my book before I do anything else.

Will have a go at the bathroom later - its not too bad - but seeing as OH and the kids are chilling out I am going to join them!

Frustrated to the point of tears.. trying to arrange a repair on my phone and I can't understand a word that the other person is saying.. I just hung up in the end because it was pointless.. I just want to speak to someone who speaks a recognisable human language.. I swear it was an Aquaphibian on the phone.. she (I think they were female) sounded like a large air pump in a fish tank. I have spoken to 4 other people on my phone today so I know that is not part of the issue. Why would you employ someone on a phone who cannot enunciate properly?

I had this problem at first too. Mine squirrel proof one is a poor design which lets the seed sit in water and go yucky, birds sensibly will not touch it. Mzsst2xaybe have a look and see if this is the case. If so wash it out and dry thoroughly and then only fill it 1/4 up the tube HTH

ETA - I see Honeybear has given the same advice.
