Hi Mooloo, I read often but comment little but hoping I can give you a little support.

My youngest has dyslexia and dysgraphia in addition to an audio processing disorder which has made literacy a huge difficulty for him, at the age of 7 I took him for a colouromitery screening which found he suffered from visual stress (irlens syndrome / scotopic sensitivity are other names for it) He sees rainbows when looking at black text on white paper and had huge tracking issues, he could track vertically but not horizontaly. we were given exercises and an specially tinted overlay to use for 6 weeks.

The change was immediate and 6 weeks later he had glasses made up in the specific tint to help him. 2 years later he is catching up massively, he still has handwriting issues but uses assisting technology at the school called clicker 6 which reads back his typed work to him. But the difference in his reading with the glasses and reading without the glasses is so noticeable . They think that 50 % of people with dyslexia have visual stress too but don't know it, it's was only because of my job at the time that I knew the difference coloured lenses can make.

Unfortunately screening and glasses are not available everywhere on the NHS though :(

Thankyou for your post. I shall investigate this.

So people are blind! With the shop door locked, the main lights off, the sign saying Please Do Not Disturb, although I am here the Shop is closed this afternoon. And still a woman just tried to get in!!
I have stayed at work ( now eating my lunch), as masses to do. Interruptions are slowing me down far too much.
I feel ignorant if I don't answer, but really!

She wasn't the only one to rattle the door! I only noticed one couple of women read the sign and mention I was busy when they squashed their noses up to the window.
DGD collected and a flying visit to see my Mum and Dad, mum had some summer hats for me to add to the shop sales. With Easter Bonnets about it could be a few extra £ in the tin.
I am washing the last pair of dirty trousers that came in to have zip repkaced. ( little old man who stunk of cigarettes, and his trousers were also covered in mud!!).
The sign is now on the desk and we will have to point out that things will need to be clean. Etc as I can't work on stuff that makes me nauseous!

    Time to make tea.
Have a soak in the bath, use heat pads etc and relax those tight muscles!

Buy yourself a cheap headset from fleabay and put it on when you're closed but visible. It's not ignorant to ignore chancers, but putting their needs before work you're doing for paying customers is unfair to the customers. If the chancer are desparate they'll come back when the shop's open.

Mooloo, I am a long time lurker and admire you.

I feel I must speak up now after your parents evening to ask whether dgd gets pupil premium under the special guardianship? It's worth £1900 per year and in our area, funds some 1-1 support for the child who receives it. Course it depends on the school on how they apply this premium.

If you want to know more, I'm happy to pm you.

Thankyou. Yes she is able to access pupil premium. I found out last month. We had been refused it until recently. The school asked me to apply for it. But then told me she was entitled. That is what is paying for her Brownie activity at school we started 3 weeks ago.
I will be talking to them again very soon.

morning, strange dreams, but at least not nightmares.
I have a lot to do still. There is a lot of finished work that still needs collecting and paying for aswell.
Not much money in the till so far this week. Luckily we had a lot in last week with the sewing lessons etc paid upfront.
Tonight is week1, of the next set of 6.
I'm still waiting for my Saturday staff to confirm they are able to come this week. Messaging but not getting any reply. So fingers crossed or I will have to cancel the teaching to man the shop. Last week the babysitter did it, and although she is polite etc her friends came in and messed around which I don't really want. Or need! I also need her to look after DGD this week.
Tomorrow DS and GF finally get the keys to their house. No matter what it's like, they have to accept it, as they are homeless. So here is hoping that it's ok. It should be as it's housing association.
But they will need flooring and white goods and curtains ASAP, that baby is due any day.
My Dad took them to the last hospital appointment, and then dropped them at her Mum's, so when I was talking to them he wanted to know how come I had to help financially, when she lived in a huge gated establishment and had horses etc?? Erm, because they are in debt up to their eyeballs, it's the Mums BF's, and not hers, and the Mum is a not so nice person to her daughter, and I could go on, but he got the idea.
The gf tries to please the Mum, but it often backfires, depending on her moods.

And enough gossip of the Mooloo tribe today. I'm finished my first cup of tea, my second alarm has gone, and it's time for my shower before the next alarm goes off to wake up DGD.
    Have a good one.

Mooloo, my cobbler now takes payment for jobs before he does then as so many people didn't collect. Could you move to pre-payment? It would really help cash flow.

    What a good idea :T

Mooloo When my DD and SIL moved into a HA home they were given a voucher to buy decorating materials at B & Q. Hopefully there's something similar in your area. Fingers crossed it's not too bad already though (the house, I mean) x
