The whole front of the shop would need a blind!
.
But no bloke in his right mind bangs on an alterations shop door at 8 at night when the sign says Closed. Just be careful.
Dirty clothes - ugh. Inspect before you accept and if something's unacceptable tell the customer it will have to be cleaned/washed before you can do anything with it......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Our local sewing shop has a big notice on the door saying items for repair must be laundered or dry-cleaned before bring in. So it is obviously a common problem. ... in fact I have had the same thing more than once myself and I just sew for friends and family. It is horrible
I was going to suggest you charge for cleaning items but that may just encourage people to use you as a cleaning service
I am very envious of your little buisness by the way. Just what I would love to do but health problems (and probably skills) prevent.

I think a sign saying items need to be laundered first may have to go on the door. I don't have enough time to do it myself really. These were just too bad. I will confess it was me who booked it in. I didn't see the garments till she had gone. It was in a bag and she just said the zips needed replacing in a pair if trousers and a fleece etc
I will look before I book in future. But alas it happens all the time, especially coats! It's horrible working with dirty stuff. It makes my hands dirty too.
I wonder at times why I was mad enough to want a shop, but on the whole I am loving it. Dispite being tired and home is neglected.
I had a lady start today, who can sew a bit, and will help part time as and when. She is the knitter too. I shall show her the various tricks and tips and pass simple jobs to her on the days she is in, so I will note it when booking in. It meant that the shop was manned while I taught, and she did a few trouser hems, and unpicking of zips in preparation for me.
It was a full on day with lessons in the morning. 3 ladies in the end. £60 and then 4 children in the afternoon in two sessions, £40.
So that was half my takings. The rest was collections.
There is money to bank on Monday, and the card machine sales will hit the bank too.
But I am shattered now. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I am taking the day off! I have still got a headache, and I'm feeling cold and tired today.
twin1 will bring DGD back for me so I can stay home. Although I could have gone to work as there is a lot to do, but I need a day of rest.
I say rest, but it's been housework, changing beds, vacuuming etc. The washing etc is also going through the motions.
Biggest of Mooloo's came over with her partner and the girls. She has to go back to work full time after next week, she is not happy about that. Especially with baby on the way. So at the end of may she will take her maternity leave.
Twin2 telephoned me to say happy mothers Day, and DS texted to say he has a card etc when he sees me next.
More attention then on my Birthday last year.
I am watching F1, on the catch up, high lights.
Having a cup of tea, and going to rest till the washing machine finishes it's latest cycle. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Time for bed. I have a very busy week ahead of me, with some catchup needed as I didn't go in to the workshop today.
Here is hoping for a good nights sleep, and a spring back in my step in the morning. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Morning already.
At least I was only up about 3 times in the night. Weird dreams but nothing too scarey. Although I did dream about a thermal cooking bag on order!
DGD was awake before me and in to my bed for a cuddle.
She tells me that there are some things Mummy and her BF say she mustn't tell me!! So I have said that she must be able to tell me anything. I asked if they were still talking about her going to live with them, and she said sometimes. So I just said, it's not going to happen. She can visit but she has too come home again because the courts said she had to live with me, and after 5 years they won't change it now.
I am also now aware he is playing video games that are an 18 infront of her. So Biggest tells me, and DGD confirmed. So yet again they are defying the agreements we had in place. This could be something, and nothing. A quiet reminder first I hope will be all that's needed.
they are supposed to gave DGD for 3/4 nights when I have a short city break coming up with a friend. DGD can't come, as her passport is getting renewed for a start, and of course she's not on the flight.
We will cross those bridges as we come to them. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Mooloo I am going to ask the question I have tried not to ask up to now. Are they a flight risk?
Telling the child to keep secrets is a big red flag. I do wonder if your dreams are because very deep down you are worrying about these things.0 -
I dont think they would fly away. They might try to go to Kent, but now he has a job starting up here tomorrow, I hope that won't happen. I think that he is just all mouth.
However we will be having words, I don't intend to leave DGD without a chat. If I fear flight is going to happen I will stop contact. ( get Biggest to have DGD as back up when I go away). When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I am sorry Mooloo, but when adults ask children to keep secrets then alarm bells should be ringing loud and clear

Indeed they should. At best they're messing with her head, at worst they're doing something they don't want anyone to know about......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
