    Have a lovely weekend GP, Mr GP and Baby Heron and all Pilgrimers wet-kiss-smiley.gif?1292867699
  • Good Morning :hello:

    greenbee - that is true, it's 100% cotton and just lovely to the touch.

    beanie - I wonder how many people say that about modern clothes? Particularly 'mid range' pricewise - you certainly would be unlikely to say it about a cardi from primarni..................... i could never get on with LA 'fit' stuff was either too tight, or too generous :(

    Upsidedown bear - i did laugh at 'baby heron' - I was watching a documentary on The Highlands of Scotland last night (lot about the Ospreys if you're reading gally) and there was a super slo mo shot of a heron, shaking it's head from side to side - it looked like a dancer! And then towards the end there was a shot of it gulping a whole fish down - very pelicanesque! Baby heron definitely wiggles like a dancer and is always 'glugging' their 'tea' :D

    Well we've woken up to a bright start :D I am, however, still in my PJ's :D Will alter that in a minute :D Haven't had breakfast either :( will alter that in a minute :D

    Saturday is curry night, so I'll be making a curry this afternoon. I'm going for Kerelan Aubergine Curry tonight, and I'll team it up with the remainder of the courgette dalcha that is in the freezer and some rice. I don't know how much aubergines are in mrL or mrAl at the moment, but I got 2 for £1 from the overpriced veg stall in the market. They were good quality - nice and glossy and plump, and given that mrW and m&$ wanted 89p and £1 for ONE aubergine respectively, I didn't think that was too bad a price.

    Right, I'm away to cereals, cuddles and clothing - possibly not in that order :rotfl:

    Thanks for popping by, reading and joining in. I very much appreciate it :D

    Greying, I thought of you last night when I got in from work and actually MADE SOME TEA rather than ordering a takeaway :o :rotfl: I even used a recipe book! (For ideas - mostly ignored the actual recipe :rotfl: )

    So thank you for your inspiration, saved us at least a tenner last night :D

    Have a cheery day :)

    :T:T:T:T:T I too use recipes for 'inspiration' rather than slavishly following them :D :T:T:T:T:T

    We will indeed have a cheery day :D:D:D

    Good Afternoon :hello:

    We've had a lovely time out in a local-ish country park. Took pack up snap, pram & baby and had a lovely time. For most of the time, we had the picnic/park area pretty much to ourselves :j We came away, just as it started to get busy and folks were wasting more fuel than they'd used to get to the joint in trying to find a parking space.......

    Tea last night was indeed curry - and i even served up what I said I would :j Lawks, will manage to put a comb through my hair once a day just now....... :rotfl:Kerelan Aubergine curry and Courgette Dalcha served with rice.

    I was going to hang my head in shame and admit that I'd not prepared the menu plan for next week and therefore, didn't know what was for us tea tonight. But we called in at the parental estate on the way home and got gifted every type of legume and courgette that you could think of. I think the non-gardening parental was somewhat relieved to get shot of it all......... :rotfl: Safe to assume, 'us tea' is going to see some broad bean, pea and bean action :D

    :money: innit?

    Right, I'm orf to upload the pics of today's adventure :D

  • Good Evening :hello:

    Quick duck in from me as I am ready to hit the hay - blooming fresh air and fitness...................... :D

    Tea ended up being very late. You'll have to forgive the carp pic taken in fading light :( I used up the broad beans and peas that we were gifted. I still have a couple of courgettes and some dwarf green beans to use :D I made a salad plate, comprising; Portugese Broad Beans - have no idea on its authenticity, but it's definitely a keeper of a recipe in my book :D, Salad-E-Sabz - which is a potato, pea and gherkin recipe from my Arto der Haroutunian cookbook and sadly does not appear on the web. It is apparently an Iranian recipe with Russian overtones (think ingredients for salade Russe), I changed it around a bit to fit the ingredients I had :D and Salad- E-Havij which is a carrot and orange salad - again from Arto's book and sadly unavailable as a link on the web :( I topped this lot off with the remaining black lentil sliders that I made... last week? Picture here;

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    a trip out - introducing Baby Greying to the great outdoors, little by little

    the sight of a Heron taking up into flight - made me think of Upsidedown Bear, as well as marvelling as to how those birds ever get airborne!

    gifted fresh produce - tasty and got me out of a meal-planning jam! :rotfl:

    Thanks for popping by and reading. Mucho, mucho appreciated. As ever. By me. Thanks.

    Thought you might enjoy this clever heron :D

    Goodnight bye-smiley.gif?1292867562
  • Good Evening :hello:

    Upsidedown Bear - that is one clever Heron or one helpful hippo! :D

    Today has all gone rather spiffingly - you know, comb through hair, no obvious sick patches on public display, pants on the right way round........... etc etc :D

    I bought 3 avocados for £1 from the overpriced greengrocers. Best to buy them in the week, the price goes up at the weekend :( I've got my frozen avocados in the freezer as well. I shall fess up and say I'm nervous of using them as i'm worried they will go brown. But I should have faith in greenbee and just get and use 'em in a recipe! :D

    I have been eating the 'flat' peaches. I now 'get' the difference in taste. They remind me of scrumping plums and greengages when I was little - there was a definite 'plum' like sweetness. I have to say, that whilst they were OK, I wouldn't rush to buy them again. The ones I had weren't significantly more juicy than the round peaches and nectarines I had bought at the same time. But I am glad that I 'revisited' them. 59p well spent :D

    Tea this evening was an exercise in using up gifted produce and trying summat new :D I made a courgette (2 gifted) and red pepper bake, using my usual improvised recipe, but I took inspiration from Laura over at The First Mess and put a Dukkah topping on it. I picked up a bag of pistachios from HB - £1.99 for 175g - not cheap, not for the budget concious cook, I confess, but not a bad price for pistachios. I also used sunflower and pumpkin seeds in the dukkah mix, along with coriander, cumin, fennel and sumac. I teamed it with the 'accompaniment' version of Carrot & Mung bean salad (ie no feta), the dwarf green beans we were gifted (sadly I overcooked them in the microwave - they were nice and firm, but weren't bright green as they should have been :() and salata min shawandar, which is a spicy beetroot salad from Arto's book again, and is sadly another 'not mentioned' anywhere on the web :( Picture here;

    040_zpsnifylx9g.jpg

    I 'did a Cheery' and got inspiration for teaming the dukkah seasoning with courgettes from a recipe that actually was courgettes (possibly fried??) teamed with dukka. I think the bake worked well and I would certainly do it again - I have another recipe - for red lentil and pepper bake that has a 'crust' of seeds, spices and seasoning, so married the two together really. I hadn't made the beet salad before (I usually do Pugilese salad with beets), but I liked it and will make it again.

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    the 'Gentleman' in m&$ who stood aside to let Baby Greying and I pass - and when I smiled and said, 'thank you', he retorted with, 'you're very welcome, my dear' :D

    more gifted produce - still haven't done a meal-plan, so saved again tomorrow! :D

    DH picking up washing powder on special offer - saved a few pennies :money:and it'll come in handy.........#mountwashmore :(:rotfl:

    Thanks for popping by, reading and leaving me amusing gifs :D Tis greatly appreciated :D
