Dispute in a car park today

OP, I realise it is frustrating and I agree with you that the CP Co should take a look at the amount of cars they are allowing in so that cars can move in and out of their car park spots safely and without hitting anything, but simple fact is you hit the pillar not the other way round.
I would say, move on from the trying to get them to fix it, it just wont happen, get your car fixed, write a letter to the CP CO informing them of where you think they are causing drivers problems in leaving their car park and how much it cost you in repairs (who knows they may give you a little compensation? doubt it though) See what their reply is, if you feel it is not a reasonable reply then write to the BPA if they are members. it probably wont help you, but may make it better for drivers in the future0

            Look at it like this.
You're driving in a country lane at 45mph. You come around a corner at a "safe speed" and there is a tree trunk lying in the road where it shouldn't be. You hit it.
You can't blame the council, mother nature or Lord Dendro. It's your fault because you're moving and the tree isn't.
The pillar didn't move - you did. If it wasn't safe to move then you should have waited until it was.0

I don't understand why people are focus on my audi q7. I have two babies, this is the best option for me.
You just keep telling yourself that
I see you people every day, blocking the road outside the local schools. Strange how other people manage to cope with a much smaller car.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If you bought a cup of coffee from a coffee shop and the temperature is over 70 degrees, your lips got a burn. Whose fault? The customer's fault, because he decide to drink the coffee?
Bad example. Of course it's the customers fault.
Are you American by any chance?

Nobody really talked about this car park company. Why you don't want to take any action against this kind of company?
Because the parking company has nothing to do with your damage.
You said they allow this double parking every boxing day, so it is presumably normally hassle free. You didn't have room to get out, and hit a pillar. You not having room to move out doesn't make the obstruction responsible for you hitting the pillar. But you've done it now, so fix it and learn from the mistake.
Next time you find yourself in a space you can't get out of (and it's a big car, so feel free to get out and look), ask the staff or the driver of the other car to move over a bit for you.
Maybe check out an offroad driving course, will do wonders with helping you with spacial awareness when driving larger vehicles and boost your confidence a bit.
But anyway; you're not going to get compensation from anyone for this. Even if the car park was in the wrong (it probably wasn't), then aren't responsible for what you did to your car. You are unfortunately also responsible for any damage to the pillar (but it sounds like paint transfer).
Write a letter to the car park manager about the double parking problem. Feel free to mention how much the repair cost you, but if you ask for compensation you will not be taken seriously.0

It's only a car anyway. A little scratch isn't going to stop it working is it?
 Get over it.0

It sounds to me like driving audi q7 is a fault.
From your original post :-asp_net wrote:I struggled to drive out of the parking bay because my car is a very big audi q7.
You initially stated that the problem arose because of the size of your car. If you hadn't said that, nobody would have known what the car was or assumed the size of it was an issue. You then claimed you "needed" a car that size because you have two babies. Well, I don't know if you've noticed this, but a heck of a lot of parents seem to manage just fine with smaller cars or even <whisper it> public transport, especially in central London. Even notwithstanding that, there are many cars with more interior space in a much smaller overall package. THAT is why people have commented on the size of your car. No other reason. All the people replied my post only talked about my mistake. Nobody really talked about this car park company. Why you don't want to take any action against this kind of company?
Allow more cars in the car park, is that correct? It seems to me you guys think this is correct.
Whether there were too many cars in the car park or not is irrelevant to the facts of your collision. You started to pull out of a parking space, and found there wasn't enough space to continue the manoeuvre. You went to reverse back in - and scraped your car. Your car clearly had enough space to go back where it had just come from - nothing had moved. You made an error in your manoeuvre. It really IS that simple.
If you'd decided that the space was too tight to manoeuvre out of safely, and had to wait several hours, you MIGHT have a claim against the car park for your wasted time - and I'd certainly expect not to have to pay for the extra time (but I'd make damn sure that it'd been noted when I started to wait, to remove any doubt later), but the manoeuvring and the consequences are 100% your own responsibility.0
