Dispute in a car park today

The tree across the road is clouding the issue.. In this situation it would be a tree that had fallen on a straight bit of road that was well lit and clearly visible.
Yet the OP would still have tried to drive through/over it.
They knew it was tight or not enough space but still tried anyway.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

If the OP had spoken to the staff, they might have moved the offending cars. In my experience of central London car parks, double parking is not unusual but the staff normally ask for the keys in case shunting is required.
If he didn't speak to them, he's got no-one to blame but himself.
If he did, and they couldn't help, he's got a legitimate grievance. But a proportionate response would be an apology or a bunch of flowers for the inconvenience.
This 100% the best response in the thread.
OP should of sought assistance from the car park operator. Had it been me I would of insisted that they removed the offending car(s) or I would invoice them for any delay. But that's where their responsibility ends, they are definitely not responsible for the damage to his car.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. Not being too familiar with the Audi Q7, I Googled and found that AutoExpress's comments included " giant SUV" and "can be cumbersome in town". Sounds about right.
My own comment? I wonder how many of the double-parked vehicles we're also SUVs?0

We looked at one just out of curiosity (way out of our budget), when we were looking at a replacement for our C4 Grand Picasso.
To be honest I would have called it a 5+2, rather than a seven seater, the rear most seats were crap and much more difficult to access than in the C4.0

You misunderstood me. When I reversed, the car door scratched the pillar. I didn't hit the pillar from the back. I do have parking sensor on the front and back, but not on the doors. Because one lane was occupied, I had to turn my car earlier than I should. I had 5 years of driving experience, this never happen before.
I think you do have parking sensors on the doors ? They are called mirrors, and you look in them when you are manoeuvring such as going backwards and forwards in tight places.0

First question, is that legal to allow double parking in unattended car park?
There is a clue in the word "unattended". The owners/operators of the car park will have a sign somewhere that absolves them of all responsibility. Your own responsibility is to drive your own vehicle properly. I have seen many drivers with equally large cars, experiencing difficulties in similar situations. You need to learn how to handle it.I think this job really needs
 a much bigger hammer.

Why didn't you use your mirrors to see what you were turning into, especially as you knew it was tight? You misunderstood me. When I reversed, the car door scratched the pillar. well we are all very critical and judgemental here, what happened to peace and goodwill to all men and women at this time of year
it really doesnt matter what car the OP was driving and why they choose to drive that type of car, there was a failing on the part of the car park by allowing the parking lot to fill to over capacity causing inconsiderate parking but the main fault still lies with the driver when realising that they couldn't get out they tried to reverse back into the space and clipped the post
why did it happen probably because they were annoyed and stressed that they were blocked in and they weren't concentrating 100% when they tried to get back into the space
no need for all the mean comments0

That is no less mean than the other comments, for me it doesn't matter what someone chooses to drive, if I see someone in a nice car, I just think to myself, nice motor :cool:0
