Hi,

I need some advice for a dispute in a car park. Basically I parked my car in q-parking park-lane. It's very convenient for winter wonderland event. After I came back, I noticed that there are a lot of car did double parking in front of my car. That means there's one lane was occupied for parking. When I came to the car park, that lane was empty. I struggled to drive out of the parking bay because my car is a very big audi q7. When I realized that I couldn't get out, I tried to reverse back because I don't want to block the lane. At this point, my car hit the pillar which left a dent and a few long scratches on the body of my car.

I took a few photos and also spoke to the staff work there. They think it's my fault because I am the one drove the car and hit the pillar, but I think they shouldn't allow people do double parking in their park. There's no enough space for my car to come out. They only do it once a year which is boxing day.

First question, is that legal to allow double parking in unattended car park?

Second question, I am wondering is that possible I can get compensation from the car park?

Thanks

Yang

If the pillar had fallen onto your car then yes, however as they say you drove into the pillar,

Why should they compensate you for not knowing how big your car is?
  • So let me get this correct..

YOU drove YOUR car and damaged it on a stationary object and want compen-say-shun?
  • That's a paid car park, why they allow more cars? I have a 7-seat car, can I put 10 people in?
  • Also, even a audi a4 couldn't get out either. One lane is occupied.

But couldn't afford the reverse camera or parking sensors option?
  • Surely, if you got it in, you can get it out the same way?

You misunderstood me. When I reversed, the car door scratched the pillar. I didn't hit the pillar from the back. I do have parking sensor on the front and back, but not on the doors. Because one lane was occupied, I had to turn my car earlier than I should. I had 5 years of driving experience, this never happen before.

As I said in my post, when I arrived the car park, that lane is empty. You know, there should be two lanes in front of the parking bay. When I came back, one lane was occupied by cars. That's why I couldn't get out and had to reverse.

So the position you moved the car from, you should be able to return it to the same position without issue.
Sorry I sat in my mate's lowly quashqai and even that has side view cameras too, I'm surprised the luxury Q7 doesn't.
