Driving 5 years and own an Audi Q7, impressive! Brace yourself for an even higher premium next year.
  • So let me get this correct..

YOU drove YOUR car and damaged it on a stationary object and want compen-say-shun?

They shouldn't allow more cars parking in that car park. That lane doesn't have any parking sign. They just want to make more money during the holidays.
  • Can someone explain how you can double park in that particular car park? I don't quite follow the OP's explanation.
  • So you were blocked in and therefore should have waited for the other drivers to return. There really isn't any reason for you to scratch your car. I know that waiting would have been frustrating but it is no use now complaining that you made a bad decision. Sorry, but that's the way I see it and that's what I would have done rather than scratch my car.

So the position you moved the car from, you should be able to return it to the same position without issue.
Sorry I sat in my mate's lowly quashqai and even that has side view cameras too, I'm surprised the luxury Q7 doesn't.

My point is they shouldn't allow more cars in the car park at the first place. Then this accident wouldn't happen. It's just like you shouldn't overload your car. There's weight limit for the lift, etc. For the car park, they shouldn't allow cars to parking on a lane where there's no any parking sign and block the way out.

I need some advice...my car is a very big audi q7... my car hit the pillar which left a dent and a few long scratches on the body of my car.

My advice, buy a smaller car.
  • The staff were correct, as DUTR and others have said. I, too, scraped my own car against a car park pillar last year and damaged the paintwork and the wing-mirror. But it was my fault - I was driving my own car and didn't turn the steering wheel hard enough. I was just glad that I had scraped my own car and a pillar, and not any other cars.

These things happen. Sometimes it's my fault and sometimes it isn't. Accept blame where it is due and don't try and put it on others where it is not.

    Best wishes. x
  • Oh just got it (Doh!)

I think if you believed there was not enough space for your car to move out you should not have attempted to take the risk and spoke to the staff before pulling out. Or be extremely cautious and take your time coming out and if you think it would have hit don't take the risk.

Whatever the scenario I don't think you can claim any sort of compensation as it was your fault. You hit the pillar, not the other way round.

First question, is that legal to allow double parking in unattended car park?

Second question, I am wondering is that possible I can get compensation from the car park?

    Thanks

    1. Their land, their rules
    2. No. As they have not done anything wrong as answer 1.
  • I don't understand why people are focus on my audi q7. I have two babies, this is the best option for me.

Ok, I will repair the car myself if no compensation. But I don't understand why you guys don't think the car park has responsibility for this accident? I paid money for space and time, but they didn't give me enough space. I made a mistake based on their mistake. For example, if you get on a overloaded bus, then there's a car accident. Whose fault? The bus shouldn't be overloaded. You shouldn't blame the passage rs who got onto that bus.
