Slightly off the subject but there is a new company out there who specialise in the installation of boilers if yours breaks down. You are able to purchase Worcester boiler, 10 year guarantee, with installation, in minutes and can carry this out at your desk in work. They offer finance too. Sorry to here all your troubles. The company are called WarmZilla, I cannot post a link on here but check them out, so easy and convienent.
I doubt its a 10 year guarantee. More like a 10 year service plan. Not really the same. Heaven knows what 10 years payments would look like.0 -
A guarantee and a service plan are 2 different things. Did you know that a warranty and a guarantee are also different, legally? Only Worcester Bosch offer a guarantee on their boilers, the rest a warranties!
This thread is not about buying a boiler, but paying for service plans is not that cost effective in some situations. Add up the yearly costs. That is why I recommended warmzilla.co.uk
I got a 10 year warranty with my Fridge Freezer and 5 years with my WD both from Samsung. It had nothing to do with Curry's where I purchased them. Anyway........
Like you have already been told. This is not a thread for buying boilers. Its about 24/7 conduct and peoples personal experience, not about service plans in general.0 -
I'm so appalled that whoever runs this company or at the elm of the company could be so wicked and allow this unbelievable acts to go on. It's the worst home care service I've ever had.
Just experienced a scam with the way they provide their services. I had water leaking off our boiler down from the attic through the ceiling. I called them to claim our full cover for them to check and help fix so the leakage could stop. Instead they made me go up the attic to try make the boiler work first by myself not knowing their intention was to get the boiler working to provide heating and hot water before they try to process my claim. Pressure was low at below 1.hence the heating had an error and wasn't working. The customer assistant asked me to pressurised the boiler by guiding me to release the valves until pressure was about 1.2. This worked fine afterwards, he then asked if the water waa still leaking and yes it was. Straight away he tried to process the claim on his system when he already knew the claim was going to be rejected since he already asked if the boiler was now working after repressurising. Meanwhile I've always used homeserve and never have I being told as long as your heating is working, your claim is not covered. It was always covered. But for 24/7 they have it in their terms and condition not to cover any repairs or investigation if the heating is on. So now I'm having to pay loads for out of cover expenses to fix the leakage. They force you to get the boiler working yourself at any means and then deny your claim as part of the cover. If you dont read terms and condition like noone reads you'll fall into their scam scheme. I'm going back to home serve. Never use this company. Beware!!!0 -
I am also thinking of taking this route. I plan to do this by myself and register it all online. @Martinlewis you need to remove this company from your website.Social Media Advisor

When a customer calls 24|7 Home Rescue in order to report a claim, the technical team try to gain as much information as possible. In this instance it is apparent that you had heating and hot water following advise from a member of this technical team which would not constitute your fault to be a breakdown. Please note that this fix was advised to help you as the customer so that your health may not be effected in this matter.
Please contact us at socialmedia@247homerescue.co.uk so we may further help you in this issue.

I need to cancel my service contract with this lot without them trying it on with a cancellation fee. Took it out 27/12/17. Have paid 12 monthly DD payments and had a recent boiler service. Their T&C’s are a joke. If I send a letter to give 30 days notice and cancel my DD and tell my bank not to allow them to reinstate it will that do the trick?
Please refer to the Terms and Conditions in regards to the cancellation of your policy. Information about this can also be found using the 24|7 online chat along with contacting the cancellation department via telephone. Should you require more information, please contact us at socialmedia@247homerescue.co.uk so we may assist you further.

This is an important lesson for people. When you compare British Gas and the likes to 24/7 you are not comparing like for like cover. Hence any savings can be misleading.
24/7 do not cover anything but complete breakdown. That means no cover for intermittent issues.
James is just another long line of junior clerks who reply to any complaints on here for 24/7. With no evidence that anything is ever resolved.0 -
Dear echoes007,
The BER model is an industry adapted model. This model would allow a company in this profession to decline a claim on the basis that a repair would not be economically viable. Please note that this is based on the current market value of a boiler, set out by manufacturers. In the event that a repair would exceed the amount detailed in a service agreement a boiler would be deemed to be Beyond Economical Repair. Should you wish to discuss this issue further, please contact us at socialmedia@247homerescue.co.uk.

However, give British Gas a call and they'll happily come out and repair your boiler, even if it's a tiny drip.
I think what 24/7 cover boils down to, is you will only repair a boiler if it's completely knackered and very new. Any other case and you have an easy way to walk away. Yet you'll happily take peoples monthly payment until it comes to a point where they try to claim and you remind them their boiler is too old for an economical repair.0
