This is a thread for the Ultimate Incentive threadies, and anyone else who would like to join in who would like to lose weight. We've been clearing debt together in my Ultimate Incentive diaries for about 6 years, now we want to battle a different kind of pounds as well. I've found as I've gotten older life has gotten messy, kids, housework, scraping said kids off said house after they find the sweetie stash, working from home, the endless ebay selling to clear clutter and pay off what we owe.... I just don't have time to be single mindedly focussed on any one goal anymore! So this thread is for all people with messy lives, knowing this won't be a smooth and 100% focussed journey, but who want to make a real effort to feel a bit more themselves again.

Weigh in day is every Wednesday, the challenge starts January 2nd so anyone taking part needs to post their starting weight then or thereabouts. I'll keep track of the weights and every week someone will be crowned the week's biggest loser.

Could I join you please ?

I really need to get going with the weight loss. I was with WW for years but ended up at around the same weight as when I started, so stopped wasting my money on the weekly fees. Early in 2014 I started off on my own and I've managed to shift about 21lb (although I suspect I am putting some of it back over Yule). So I know I can do it :)

I'll be weighing an measuring on 2nd Jan (as I know measurements can be just as important to see progress)

  • I will join

maybe do it as a percentage as someone weighing 20 stone will lose weight a lot quicker than someone weighing 12 stone.

I may well join as I have a 'messy life' and the need to lose weight. I agree with MargB on wasting money on WW and SW and the like - if they worked it wouldnt be a multi million pound/dollar industry........I am a believer in a DIY approach - we all know what we need to do - eat less and move more and dont beat ourselves up about it when we slip up a little.

One plea though...........can I campaign to get loose and lose used in the correct context - sorry its a bug bear of mine. LOSING weight please, to make our clothes LOOSE :D Apologies again I will go away and hide now until the 2nd ........:)

  • I would like to join please. I have no money for SW or WW or gyms so will be doing this the old fashioned way. I have about 40lbs to lose and will weigh and measure on the 2nd of January. I agree with doing the weight loss as a % to make it more fair. Good luck everyone.

I love the thread title :-) I have around a stone to lose but will weigh in on the 2nd with a definite figure as I'm sure I will put on a couple of pounds over Christmas and new year. Looking forward to the challenge!

  • i would like to join please. mine is slow and steady due to my crohns and what i can and cannot eat and still recovering from an op. All i will be able to do (till March) is walk and then frmo March onwards will be swimming regularly.

Would like to lose 3 stone
  • I would like to join also - I am for ever trying to move a few pounds but need a bit of a push. If I can just drop 1 stone I would be really happy! I try and get into the gym a least three times a week but the last two weeks I haven't be able to go at all. Walking is my alternative exercise.
