Boyfriend disclosed he visited a prostitute in India one year before we got together

Thanks to Pollycat who beat me to it, but you're not the only one in the thread to have missed "my boyfriend (while he was pursuing me for a LDR while he lived in India) visited a prostitute" in the opening post. (Perhaps it's because of the acronym.) To my mind it makes a difference.
Except the title says it was a year before they got together. So yes, he did know her but they were not in a relationship, I guess it depends on what she mean by him 'pursuing' her.

Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

That's true, but she strongly suggests more than simply knowing each other. Assuming she (and the whole premise!) is 'correct', it's not behaviour I would expect or hope for.. . .I did not speak out
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me..

Does the price he paid for her services your only concern? if so I think you need to wake up and smell the cocoa hun. if it was me in your slippers I would be going to my local hospital and getting every test they offer then I would kick him out (if he resides with you) As you say in your post you dnt know if she was trafficked into sex work I really don't think it troubled your OH if she was or not and now that really would concern me.Britain is great but Manchester is greater0

I think if I was this bloke I'd pack my bags.
Such a response to honesty only inhibits future honesty in the relationship.0 -
This thread is drilling right down to the bones on this.
Just taking a step back and and looking at it on face value: He paid someone for sexual intercourse.......

Grim.
Which is not too different to wining and dining someone and getting to home base at the end of the evening.0 -
Yes yes yes, i too like the old joke "You always pay for sex, one way or another", but You and I know that it's not the same thing.
And if you don't, then I'm sorry (for you).0 -

The only difference I can see is that one method is more socially accepted than another. Who is to say that your dinner date wasn't out the previous week with someone else? When it comes to STI's or illness there is no class or postcode lottery.0 -

If two people have sex on their first date before they've learned much about each other, both must realise there's a good chance that the new partner has had multiple other sexual partners with all the related risks.0 -

I agree, it doesn't even need to be the 1st 2nd or subsequent dates, there is always a good chance that the next partner carries some risk.0
