Evening everyone. Thanks for all the well wishes RE the crutches. Nothing major, pulled tendons in my knee last week. Have no idea how I did it, have no idea when All I know is that I went to walk and couldn't put my foot to the ground:eek: So had to go to A&E. Was told it can take up to 3 months to heal:eek: I hope it doesn't take that long as I'll be going cuckoo
We had snow yesterday, but by 6pm it was gone:mad::( Neither me nor the children were impressed:rotfl:
All these warnings etc we were given were for nothing at all. Not impressed. Children did get to build an Olaf though:rotfl:
I see we're being forecast "heavy snow" again for tomorrow and more warning issued. You'll be forgive me if I don't take any heed of those and don't believe them. It's too wet anyway for it to lie anyway.
I've also started my own challenge for saving money for the year. I kind of borrowed it from a Debt Free Challenge thread, but lowered the limit lol.
I'll be saving 5, 10, 20p and 50p's from now till the end of the year. But adding one each week.
Eg. Week 1 - 5p/10p/ 20p
Week 2 - 10p/20p/40p
week 3 - 15p/30p/ 60p and so on.
Will get the kids involved too so I've recycled a few jars and pringle tubes today and covered them in wrapping paper for me, hubby and the 2 eldest kids to do it. See how we go/
Hopefully by the end of the year we'll each have about- £69 in 5p's
- £138 in 10p's
- £275 in 20p's
- £690 in 50p's
I would have loved to do it in £1's also, but can't afford it:( Can't guarantee we'll so this challenge to the full but we can but try.
Off to bed now as I'm shatteredhopefully get a wee lie in tomorrow to catch up on much needed sleep. Night and God Bless everyone x

It isn't as bad as it sounds if you recycle. It helps that we have a recycling wheelie bin the same size as the general waste bin. It is a policy that is going to become popular as the councils try to make savings.A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

Hi all, I did go to my mum's in the end but had to hot foot it back a day early as it started snowing a lot and I didn't want to get stuck! I had a lovely day with my Grandma learning how to use a sewing machine, I now need to get one and it will hopefully help with my new frugal way of living! She also gave me loads of beautiful fabric, buttons, sequins, ribbon, scissors and a cutting board. She has a summer house at the bottom of her garden that is dedicated to sewing and it is choc FULL of stuff! It was also a funny coincidence as I am getting rid of my picnic basket as it is too small and can't hold much and the morning before I went to Grandma's I thought to myself i'd really like to get one of those baskets with the arch handle and flaps that open at the top on either side (if that makes sense!) and low and behold she had one and she gave it to me with all the fabric bits in! I hadn't even told her I was looking for one. I'm a lucky girl with all the loot I came back with.
I hope you're all having a good weekend and keeping warm. xx0 -
Oooh I meant to say I am only JUST keeping up with my new years resolutions - I did my Pinerest one yesterday just in time! I did a hair style from my 'hair' board - I liked it but it didn't look as good as the picture on there!!0

Wow, PrincessKitty that was a great haul from your Grandma, it sounds fabulous. I bet it was lovely for her to be able to give it to you too - nice for her to know that you'll be following in her footsteps with the needlework. Hope you get your sewing machine soon. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0

Evening everyone, definitely woke up cba today, so i gave myself 2 goals to achieve then i could just sit and read/watch tv, one was dye my hair (i always buy the dye then i cant be ar*ed to do it) and two was bake a cake, it worked, i got both done which led to other things getting done, so if i wake up now feeling the same i am going to do the same give myself 2 goals then i will feel better for achieving something
PRINCESSKITTY ahh im glad you had a lovely time with your grandma, sharing a common interest, your haul sounds fab, shame it was cut short but i dont drive in the snow either so i understand. I am still doing well on my pinterest goal too, this weeks recipe is Bourbon Chicken done in the slowcooker, i hope we all like it#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0 -
Thanks Peppapig, yes my Grandma did enjoy it. She was happy to give it to me as she was pleased that I was going to be carrying on the sewing in the family. She said she was going to have a big clear out of her summer house and she would give me more things as she can't do as much sewing nowadays - I only hope I can master the sewing machine now!
freespirit well done on your Pinterest challenge too! :T That recipe sounds lovely, hope you enjoy it. I try to do what you do, I have a long to-do list and I tell myself just tackle one thing a day, if you do any more it's a bonus. I get more of a sense of achievement if I do it like that rather than just looking at my to-do list thinking it all needs to get done now.
I was pleased with myself yesterday as I used a couple of things up in the fridge that were nearing the end; I made some spinach soup out of spinach just starting to wilt that I had last night and was yummy, and I made blueberry muffins with blueberries that were going soft and I now have a stash in the freezer. We also had a lunch of steak pies, mash and veg - the steak pies were YS and were £1.05 each from M&S. I've been a bit obsessed with buying YS stuff recently as our local Waitrose always has loads out in the morning, but my freezer is full now so we have to eat our way through it before buying any more!
Now, i'm just wondering if this sounds a little crazy - I already know what I am getting for a friend for Christmas this year, a make-up hamper, and have started buying for it. However I also have another item I bought in the sale for another hamper that would be perfect for her but given with the make-up hamper would be too much. Can I actually buy now for Christmas 2016?! Plan two years in advance?? Of course I know I can, but feel more like a Christmas nut now than ever!0
