Also a stab in the dark. .does anyone have experience with diabetes and can suggest items for a hamper for a diabetic person - mums diabetic and she basically doesn't eat carbs or sugar now and luckily controlled her condition (she has lost a bunch of weight too)
I was thinking maybe a couple of diabetic cook books and some items or ingredients to add to them.
please dont buy 'diabetic' food stuff, theyre rubbish and they make you poop, is yr mum type 1 or 2?Skint, but happy (ish):p0 -

My Mum was told not to buy diabetic chocolate by the nurse at the diabetic clinic at our GP surgery - they gave her a useful list of things she should avoid, things to eat in moderation and things that she could eat lots of.freespirit66 wrote: »Evening everyone, DD2s second work catch up 1/2 day went a bit better this week, and i had lots of snuggles with the little man, i have to really stop myself from smothering him in kisses and playing with his supersoft little hands when he is asleep on me :rotfl::rotfl:i know this sounds really soppy but my heart really feels like it will burst with happiness when i have him in my arms (pass the sickbucket around haha)
Free, I'm just the same with mine - he's one now but it really upsets me that he won't remember any of it when he's older. I'll just have to make sure I'm still doing it when he's a teenager lol :rotfl:It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -

Well, the landscape around here is very snowy, hope the bin lorry makes it through tomorrow. They have been known to miss our cul de sac out in naff weather and it's fortnightly collections now.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0

morning, peeps, no snow, blue sky and brittle sunshine. but bitterly cold.
Yesterday l bought from a shop closing down 5 curtain fabric samples, for 50p each. Really luxury fabrics, so l now have 5 lovely new cushions, really pleased. It always makes me sad when a lovely family run business closes, but this was retirement, rather than recession, so l didn't feel like a corpse robber.
February pensions have been paid already, so l will spend today trying to balance the books. Thanks for the reminder about the council tax holiday, I can factor that in, too.
Hopefully going on a mini-jolly with DD tomorrow, so that needs added in too.
l have been really frugal all this week using up stuff from Christmas foods and so on, but the scales tell me it has cost me a gain of 4lbs, so that was a disappointment, l will parcel up the remainder and donate it to the food bank.0 -

We have just received notification that we are moving to collections every three weeks for our rubbish that goes to landfill (which currently is collected fortnightly) starting in March.
Our recycling bin (currently fortnightly) & food waste (currently weekly) are staying the same.
Will probably have to consult the collection calendar as it could be a little confusing to start with!A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.
