  • Evening everyone, i actually felt like i had a good sleep last night but still to make sure added an extra 3 hours this morning after breakfast in bed :eek: i have had a really nice chilled relaxed sunday, baking and making a nice dinner, reading etc

IRISHROSE ooh how lovely to have something to look forward to and save for, good luck :), if i remember rightly we couldnt book flights until 11 months before our dates, that was the earliest they released them but may be changed now

JUNIORJ oh i do hope that is the start of pain free days for you, i really cant imagine what you go through, when i know how a headache/migraine makes me feel

CHRISSY oh bless your poor DD it must be very frightening for her, sending lots of hugs and hope you get the answers you need on Tuesday

MSGIGGLEWICK i didn't realise you had tried to contact him, i'm really sorry it was ignored, it must have hurt very much. You did all you could in the circumstances

PEPPAPIG yes we were the same we only had our first shop delivered saturday since before christmas, and i am happy to stay inside and watch the snow if i have the essentials too :) Regarding the present situation, about when do they become adults i asked my sisters to stop buying presents for my kids when they turned 21, it was for selfish reasons really, now i am on my own the thought of buying for my neices and nephews forever was quite daunting, at least now i know when it will stop :) hth

NIC oh bless the kids thinking the tree was going up, that is so sweet

Enough snow here to make things white and tricky underfoot. This evening DS31 (not a typo, he left and returned) and myself were faced with a badly leaking kitchen mixer tap.
Neither of us had fixed a mixer tap before, but thank goodness the requisite washer was lurking in the bottom of a drawer and DS fixed things in record time.
A few years ago it would have been "When are you getting someone out to fix that, Mum?" if I hadn't proved equal to the task. Really thankful for the maturity he now has and the confidence that came with it.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
  • I don't think it is snow, it is more like a sprinkling of hailstones that are frozen, but l aint going outside to check!
DGS is seeing the orthodontist this morning to get fitted with a brace. l think this will be just to make an impression so that the brace can be made, but ....oh, here he is back, more later
  • Just a consultation, the 'real stuff' starts in April and requires a 60 mile round trip each time. So he is off back to school.
Just discovered my fire has a 3 year guarantee, and as l have found the email purchase confirmation, it may yet be fixed for free, yippee.
JJ so glad you have a new pain relief regime, and one that appears to be working.

Freespirit – Aww glad both DD and GS are doing well!! I hope she makes a smooth transition back to work when the time comes. I will defiantly keep you all updated!! Sounds like a good Sunday!!! Thank you for the birthday wishes :)

Chrissy – If you want it you have it!! Although if there is something that you maybe would like but wouldn’t go buy for yourself maybe go for that instead! Hugs for your DD, that must be terrifying for her :(

Princesskitty – I hope you enjoyed the second Christmas feast!!

Irishrose - I hope you manage to get a booking in for Florida :j so you can get saving with the fixed date to aim at!!

Msgigglewick – good result with the wilko and boots sale stuff:T

Peppa – My aunties and uncles did 21 for birthday and 18 for Christmas. We still got a box of chocolates or biscuits or something similar as a token gift, I hope this helps!

Well I had a wonderful birthday, didn't move out of bed until 10.30am, breakfast and a cuppa with OH and then I went wedding dress shopping with my DM and MOH and I actually found my dress and veil :j:j:j whilst I was out feeling like a princess OH went across to one of the properties that is rented out which has just had a freshen to do the final hoover and meet the builder, exchange keys/invoices ect... He then took me out for tea at the Indian we both love and it was really lovely :D
I had a look on the boots sale but as I was behind the times most stuff had sold out, there are some bits and bobs that would be good for mothers day and birthdays, will have to make my mind up to spend some money :rotfl:
Our save the dates arrived, they are nice but a little lighter than expected and also looks slightly like the printer was maybe running out of ink but they still look nice and will do the job! They only cost £30 and I refused to buy the really nice one's at £80  I'd rather have what we saved to put towards the actual invitations.

    Hugs to all x
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

    Morning all,

My poor DD is having a tough time she has started having a new type of seizure possibly Myoclonic but the problem is unlike all the other ones she has she is aware during this new one as its happening and its scaring her.We have an appointment at Hallamshire Tuesday so hoping to get some answers.

I am loving working weekends its so much busier so the time flies by and of course at 4 pm on a Sunday I'm done for 5 days [really like that part ]

Sorry to hear about your DD seizures! I don't understand seizures that well myself yet (usually because I am unconscious any time I have had them - however occasional ( when I forget meds) I will have spasms of one part of my body which is horrible because I am fully aware of them and panic they will turn serious - there is a group on FB called epilepsy sucks (its a registered charity)and they are very helpful on there! For all types of Seizures. x Sending hugs.

Thanks for all your lovely comments on the new pain meds , day three I think taking them and apart from bad pain yesterday morning everything else has been considerably more bearable!

    Seeing neurosurgeons on Wednesday

Sending hugs all round - off to do a 750 essay!

Belated Happy Birthday wishes Newthrift - glad you had such a lovely day and very exciting to have found the dress!

Thanks for the advice Freespirit and Newthrift - I think 21 would work well for us. DH and I have been married for almost 20 years but as he is 9 years older than me and this is the second marriage for both of us, we have a really wide age range among the grandchildren - and quite a few of them (22, 19, 18, 15, 13, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 1, 1 and two more due this year).

It's actually quite scary seeing it all written down. If we do a £10 limit for all the adults from now on and reduce the children from £30 to £20 it means that Christmas presents alone will cost us £370 this year - I'm too scared to add up all the birthdays as well  .
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

Belated birthday wishes to Newthrift & Betsie2010! Hope you both had a lovely day.

Glad that you found a wedding dress and veil Newthrift. :T It sounds like the wedding preparations are going well.

    Hope everyone is keeping well.

Irishrose Have you got any room in your suitcase for me? :rotfl:

Peppapig Great idea to set limits for the Christmas presents but I'd recommend that you do this for birthday presents as well.
A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.
