Free- that's good news about Thumper- hopefully they will al have had a good nights sleep x Yup - you summed DH's boss up very well - you are better off without your Ex if he is even a patch on this man.
Baby boo- how's your new grandbaby coming along? Hope things are a bit easier for you at the mo x
3forholidays- that woman should be a member of this thread! (Well done on your win)
Whitesatin- so glad you had a lovely time - sounds fab. It is distressing to see people who are in such dire straights that begging is their only option. Hope your DD gets better soon- mastitis isn't nice.
Nothing Christmassy planned for me today except going to Moms and cleaning her bay windows , changing curtains etc and putting some Christmas lights up for her. Then back home and do some very necessary housework! DD's last day at Uni today and tomorrow her BF is back home from Uni so its my last chance to do a deep clean. Oh such joy!lovin' this site!

Free, poor little chap,at least he will be better by Christmas now he has the right medicine.
Murie, shame for your husband to leave a job in that way after such loyal service.Heres hoping for better things in his new job.
Whitesatin,I used cold cabbage leaves in the bra, takes the heat right out...honestly.My old midwife told me that one.
3... By todays standards that woman hasn't spent that much,it's just a lot of small gifts instead of electrical stuff. It does look excessive piled high like that though.I spread mine out a lot more;)
Yesterday I went and bought more Christmas decorations, like I need some!I got a gold twig wreath and some gold glass birds.I also bought some small silver Christmas trees and some tiny porcelain rabbits.I was going to make a winter scene in a glass terrarium I had at my Mum's for safe keeping.Well I only fell down stairs with it,glass, soil, gravel everywhere.I managed to stop myself from falling on top of it and got away with bruises and only 1 cut.I bloomin loved that thing,I looked after it for 25 years!Had my thinking cap on and might try one in a big Kiln-r jar type thing I have,or even an empty coffee jar.
We are off out again to get away from the noise and grime.Bury market today.

Morning everyone. 2 weeks till christmas today! :T
Peppapig - That cabinet is lovely and huge! Don't know why I pictured a small little thing in my head when reading your posts! :rotfl:
Murie - Hope the last few days of work for your husband aren't too bad.
Free - Glad to hear Thumper is out of hospital. Hope he's on the mend quickly. xx
Finished my christmas present shopping now. Haven't wrapped any though. :rotfl: No decs up here yet either. Tree should be up by the end of the week though. And hopefully my christmas village will be making an appearance soon!
My little niece (think she's about 18-19 months now?) is coming to stay overnight with us a week on saturday. Always nice when she comes to stay because I don't have to do any proper babysitting - thats Nana and Grandpa's job (my parents)! I just get the fun bits like watching her play and demolish food. :rotfl: Can't wait to see her face when she sees the tree! Will have to keep her away from it though. Can just imagine her taking a running jump at it!“In 900 years of time and space, I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important”

Helped DD on Wednesday with nativity play - many hands needed to get littlies dressed in time! Going to the Sage Christmas concert tonight with family and a friend. Gervase Phinn is the compere tonight so it should be fun.
DD sang lovely last Saturday in her local church concert. I was sitting with tears in my eyes; I still love listening to her sing.
Can't remember if I mentioned it here but we had a really nice evening.

Afternoon everyone, i have just got out of bed  still cant get rid of this deaf ear (sometimes painful) my back and legs were hurting and then i had a bad headache (luckily didnt turn into migraine) i really need to get rid of this virus, but all i am reading everywhere is that it just lingers. Thumper now has conjunctivitus (omg poor little man) but i know we all get annoyed at the nhs, i have something nice to say about them, they rang DD2 up this afternoon to check on him and follow up, and said not to think twice about taking him back if she thinks he isnt getting any better, i am really impressed that is the first time in a long time that someone has done their job properly and really cared. It also reassures DD2, because she doesnt want to look like a silly young mum who runs up there about anything and everything. Thankyou everyone for your get well wishes for Thumper it means a lot
3FORHOLIDAYS ahh i did wonder if it was to do with oxygen in his blood but wasnt sure why when he was asleep?? Thankyou and yes as soon as you said that i could remember people on Holby/Casualty saying about sats. I think that girls presents under (or rather over) the tree was hilarious, i know its a lot but as she says she isnt in debt, has bought throughout the year spends lots of time on MSE getting tips and sale tips off :money:so good luck to her, my kids eyes would have popped out of their head if that was them when they were younger :rotfl:
BABYBOO thankyou, how is your DGD doing? Have you had lots of cuddles? Yes i agree unfortunately integrity is not a word to describe many people these days
WHITESATIN glad you had a lovely time in Lille, shame about the beggars i should imagine they are in most towns in France atm its an awful situation. I hope your poor DD gets well quickly mastitis is horrible, i was also told cabbage leaves inside your bra is very good for it, hope you get to cuddle your DGS too
MRSMONEYPENNY im sure you will get it all done lovely lady, we all seem to manage to each year when we think we wont
MURIE i should be doing HW too its so annoying feeling like this i have no motivation whatsoever
VULPIX omg are you ok? I hope you didnt hurt your back after your op, that could have been nasty with the glass and landing on it too, what you had planned sounded blooming beautiful as well, i love the sound of your new decs, and hope you can find something made of glass to make it still.
CLUMSY i cant wait for Thumper to see the tree either, i hope you have a fun time with your niece
04624181 thankyou, i hope you are well!

freespirit66, I hope you feel better soon. My husband wasn't that well while we were in France. I am sure he caught something from the man in front of us on the train (businessman), who was really coughing and spluttering all the way from St Pancras to Lille. I thought I would pick something up as I am normally the poorly one but not that time. But, when I was at the hairdresser this morning, there was a young woman having the full works done, highlights etc. She had brought her 5 year old child with her who looked obviously poorly. She was in her school uniform (10am) so maybe she had got a call to pick her up and, rather than cancel the hairdresser, she brought her along. The poor little thing was pale and just wanted to lie down and said she was cold. She was coughing badly and sneezing. She needed to be at home but, instead, was sitting with people who were waiting to have their hair done while mum shouted the odd promise of taking her for a croissant from the hairdressing chair. The child also had a really bad looking open sore on her face, poor little mite. So, if I escape picking up something again, I will be lucky.
I can sympathise with the ear problem, I was deaf in one ear for a few weeks due to a perforated ear drum. Not nice, take care of yourself and stay warm.0 -
Free - Sorry to hear little Thumper hasn't been too well, glad he is home again, and hopefully well on the mend for Christmas. Also hoping your ear is better soon xx
Managed to get the Lego Arctic set off amazon last night for £45 (rrp £70), purchased to put away for dd2 next year, but I am tempted to give it her this year, and choose a couple of smaller gifts to hold back instead. Problem is, everything is wrapped so I'm going to have to "guess" at which to hold back! It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
clumsy42- I noticed Home Bargains had some large storage jars about 30cm at £2.99 I think- they had copper lids and were just right to create a Christmas scene in. I used a dowe egberts coffe jar for mine- a small tree , copper lights and a father Christmas cake decoration with snow- all from the £shop. I noticed Sainsburys have a little tree decoration that is a car with a Christmas tree on the roof American style , but I had already finished mine and handed them out. Think it was £3.50. You were lucky not to hurt yourself badly xx
Free- get better soon!!! So glad that NHS have been good to poor little Thumper, he's really going through it at the mo isn't he?
Mrs CD- enjoy your evening out x
Whitesatin- fingers crossed that you haven't caught anything at the hairdressers. Poor little mite she does sound poorly though (and I want to say unlucky to have an ignorant selfish mother but I cant cus I don't know the circumstances- ooh I am being restrained here!).lovin' this site!
:j0 -
Aw thank you Baby Boo and Clumsy.
Whitesatin I do hope your DD is feeling better soon - not what she needs right now. Hope the cabbage leaves help bring some respite.
Murie, totally agree about the little girl. My reaction was the same as yours, initially thought some people just shouldn't have children then thought no, you don't know the whole story. Hope she's getting lots of tlc now - well not now cos she should be in bed but you know what I mean.
MrsCD that must have been lovely hearing DD sing at church.
Must write the Christmas cards tonight then do the shopping list for the Christmas food next week and then it's just the cooking plan for the big day and I'm all done. Other than DH's pressie, oops. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0
