In a world that has decided that it's going to lose its mind, be more kind my friend, try to Be More Kind0 -
good morning, have just caught up with the posts, such a lot going on with us all! Poor Wiggle, hope he is better soon.
Happysmithy, oh, no, what a rotten thing. hope you get it sorted out.. (my friend says ''if its got tyres or testicl*s it will give you nowt but trouble'').
Free, poor DD hope that it does go, and that the op has done some good.
Pink, so pleased you had a lovely time on your birthday. Yes, it is quality time that is the best gift, isn't it.
Well, b*gger, got roofer Andrew up yesterday, not good, sucking of teeth and sympathetic face, you know its bad news don't you? I need a new roof, but he is busy until well into the new year, so he is coming today or tomorrow (weather dependent) to make it watertight for the winter, and a £5500 estimate for renewal in april. He isn't charging me for the repair tho, so l am not complaining too loudly.
My DSIL is coming to stay for a couple of days today, so l better get her a bed made up and tidy a bedroom for her. We will talk all day and night, and laugh till our ribs ache, as usual.
DGS absolutely loves her, and she loves him too, so he is looking forward to getting in from school. and on that note l had best shake a leg (hope it doesn't drop off) and dig him out of his pit and ready to go.0 -

Mrshoneybadger- This weather is playing havoc with christmas fairs and winter events.Sounds like your spare room is coming along nicely.

MrsInvisible-Oh no, your poor roof and poor you! the silver lining is that you do not have to pay that out before christmas. lucky you could get somebody out to see to your roof as usually they all so busy. I too need a new roof in new year so I feel your pain. DSisILs step dad is a roofer so he is going to do us an amazing price. Still have to save for it though x Have lots of fun with DSIL, lots of laughs is good for the soul
Just listening to smooth and Michael Buble is singing merry christmas x Love it!!
dd is still ill, got her in at the drs tomorrow so will see what he says. She is very happy that Jolly Jingle the elf has returned to visit her. She is currently having a carpet picnic with her x0 -
Morning Happy 1st of December :santa2:
The kids were so excited this morning to get up and see the elves had arrived, and even come through a magic elf door. Usally they arrive by post.
My 8 yr old and 10 yr old are so into it all, I am so worried about them getting made fun of at school. Especially my eldest. She said no one in her class believes in Santa or elves. So I told them not everyone is lucky enough to get elves and usually it's the best beleivers and its best not to tell everybody Incase they don't have elves staying.
I'm off to pull put all the presents Ive bought so far. I'm thinking I don't have much, but wonderjng if I have more than I think.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
princesskitty29 wrote: »_party_ HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY pinknfluffy! I'm glad you had a lovely weekend, it sounds amazing!
Well we had an eventful weekend as Wiggle is ill again. It started when he woke up from his nap on Saturday, he was really hot and very grumpy. We thought it was because there were a few people there for MiL's birthday tea but then Saturday night I ended up only getting about 2 hours sleep! Wiggle kept waking up crying with a temperature, then at 3am he was hysterical and in the end the only thing to calm him down was to sit on my lap and watch the television. So that's where we stayed, he fell alseep on me and I had to stay awake as I was holding him! I did try to move him once when he was sleeping, I thought I could go and put him in his cot but big mistake! It's amazing how rubbish TV is at that time of the morning! We took him to a walk-in centre Sunday morning and they confirmed he's still got an ear infection so he's back on the antibiotics.
We viewed a house that we really liked, but then we also visited a new build site and saw a floorplan for a potential house that we LOVE the look of. We are really keen, but it isn't built yet and won't be available until Sept/Oct next year so we would have to rent in the meantime. I think if the prices are right we are going to go for it. I have heard some people say new builds aren't very sturdy, does anyone on here live in one? I know they're not like the old brick houses but they can't be that bad. We would get so much more space for our money and the next time we move we want to be in it for some years to come.
Oh princesskitty, I hope Wiggle is feeling better soon. Its horrible when they're ill isn't itWe live in a new build, although it's actually not so new anymore because it's around 10 years old. I can understand what people say about them compared to older houses. Before this house we lived in a very very old house and the walls were much thicker so just felt more solid, but our house is perfectly fine and obviously they have certain regulations they have to meet so you won't find it falling down after 10 years :rotfl: Only 1 thing I would say is that the contractors do build to very tight margins so the work isn't always completely up to scratch, so make sure if you do buy, when you move in you check everything and if there's anything you're not happy with then call them in and get them to put it right. Also the fittings are usually the cheapest bog standard stuff that they can get. The kitchen that was in our house when we bought it was suitable, but not a nice kitchen, if that makes sense, so we just couldn't wait to rip it out & put in something to our own taste. The bathrooms are also just the cheapest suites with cheap taps as well, which I hate! Of course, some developers offer upgrades when you're buying, but I imagine that works out a more expensive way of buying a kitchen or bathroom.
3forholidays - I didn't get an email about the iTunes gift cards but I happened to pop on to Tesco gift cards anyway because I wanted to get some iTunes vouchers so came across the deal. It's great for us because we buy most of our music on iTunes and occasionally I do let our youngest get a game on her ipad. Usually she just asks to download the free ones, but every so often I'll let her spend a bit of money on one of the ones that cost money.
I opened my advent calendar today and gave my daughters their chocolate advent and their first advent bag this morning. Its 1st December, I am so excited!! Radio 1 even played The Pogues earlier and I turned it up quite loud in the office :rotfl:
04624181 - I hope your DD is feeling better too, she has had a rough time hasn't she.
MrsI - that's a bummer about your roof. It seems all these repairs come around at Christmas, what a pain.
Happysmithy - also a bummer about your car. Cars are great until something goes wrong with them, then its just a complete pain having to pay out for repairs but also having to try & organise yourselves while your car is in the garage.
Free - I hope thumper is better soon and big hugs to your daughter, I hope the pain subsides for her.0 -
Just got back from the drs..... dd has a throat and ear infection so is on antibioticas and have been told to wait at least 2 days until thinking about sending her back to school so that is her off for the rest of the week. Poor little thing, the nurse kept telling me that she must be very sore. Thanks for get well wishes everybody x
Its a good job Im organised orelse it would be panic stations here!
nic2075-my son is 13 and is "playing along" for this sake of his 5 yr old sister but he loves it too. We took the elf to the drs with us and you should of seen the drs receptionists faces when my dd told them about it. They loved it! So did the nurse and all the staff at the pharmacy we went to. That little visit from the elf cheered the adults entire day up.
Moneymission2015-Dont you just love the radio playing christmas tunes, it feels like its officially christmas lol0 -
Just found out that a house along the road was burgled last night. We are going away and I just didn't need to hear that. I feel so sorry for the people as it is a horrible thing to happen.
Still staying with my daughter by night and coming home during the day trying to keep up with the chores. Got the trees up today and most of the deccies arranged around the house. Can't help thinking it all looks like I have just put on display all the Christmas stuff that I have. After Christmas I am going to be selective and just keep things I really like or which have sentimental value, the rest is going to the charity shop.
Maybe when I have more time at home, I might be able to make things look a bit more "together". The grandchildren will love it anyway I suppose.0 -
its december :j

we're all full of cold and taz is still off preschool so not done any wrapping again. the tree is partially decorated the kids did a good job just waiting on the new lights I ordered(last yrs one don't work) to arrive so I can finish it.
tc allthis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -
Morning all,
Hope everybody is ok, bit quiet on here last night.
Whitesatin-That is awful news, those poor people. It does happen alot at this time of year and it is so unfair. I hope everything is ok with your dd.
mandco-hope you and taz feel better soon, I received 4 parcels yesterday so am itching to wrap some gifts. May do it tonight when the hubby comes home from work.
Looking for suggestions on what to make at a church christmas youth event. Do not want anything too messy so no paint. Kids are aged between 4-13. I may have some MDF christmas decorations that they can decorate and take home. (either felt tips or glue and sequins, coloured paper etc)
We have some minute timed games for them to complete which I know they will love. Anything else that you can think of would be greatly appreciated.0
