  • White satin- Your daughter must be fed up, poor thing. These babies have their own ideas how things should go. I hope things work out and baby puts in an appearance soon x elmos christmas countdown sounds fun. Will have to have a look for that x
Freespirit66- Glad to hear dd is ok and sending positive vibes and hugs :grouphug: You are super organised, well done. I will put a pic of my christmas tree on as soon as I work out how to do it lol

Well we have all had early nights due to a hectic week but im sat in bed with my laptop shopping, everyone else is snoring.
Have just ordered son a game for his xbox, decided we are sticking with current xbox and then he can decide to upgrade in new year if he wants. We are giving him some money, games, electronics and adidas clothes and trainers for christmas aswell as the gifts he has already got. Glad we have decided now as I can just get it finished.
Have ordered the cube game for the wii from amazon, It looks fab! Going to wrap that up for DS
Then went on cex online and ordered dd a game for her ds and ordered 2 wii games for us as a family. Got Wii family trainer with mat, wii family trainer treasure adventure so hoping to wrap them up as a family gift as we play games on boxing day. ALL DAY!
Also got Jambo safari adventure for DD on wii. The games from cex are used but the kids will love them and it only cost me £12 delivered.
  • fiesty our posts must have crossed! Wishing you massive luck for moving today and I hope everything goes as seamlessly as possible. As for the neighbours, I know this is so easy to say but you have to put them to the back of your mind. The building work won't last forever and they know that. As for the baby, as hard as it is (and I found this hard) you must not think about them! Babies cry and that's just the way it is, there is nothing anyone can do about it and quite frankly anyone would be silly to complain about a baby crying. You're not going to leave your baby to cry for hours on end, but there will be times when it takes a little while to settle it. Wiggle's room adjoins our next door neighbour's wall so they've probably heard him but it's just the way it goes. I know how you feel as I don't like confrontation either, but don't let them ruin moving in to your lovely new family home. As for DH, i'm sure he will feel a bit better once you are in and settled, I hope he doesn't feel poorly for too long. I know what it's like though, my DH gets grumpy and it really affects my mood too! I hope you're getting lots of help today and don't over-do it!

Thank you so much for your kind words, it really helps me stay sane lol.

Fiesty, just think, this time tomorrow, next week, next year will this matter?Your hormones are not helping you at the moment, keep that in mind.xxx

Another good make Free, were you once a Blue Peter presenter?

We got a Christmas card in the post yesterday.

Went shopping in Nottingham yesterday.Mr V bought me a necklace which was clever as he wasn't even there!

Bought Mr V a teeshirt, to go with his bag of nuts and wind up torch ,ha,ha,ha.No,not funny really I have no clue what to get him,he wants for nothing,if he wants it he buys it.He will have to sit there on Christmas day and just watch everyone else open lots of parcels!

I have bought myself a santa mug from As-a,1950's American style. They have other crockery in the same style, had to be strict with myself as I already have so much Christmas stuff like that.

Now for the scary news. Our builder wants to start knocking the wall out in our kitchen diner. This means that i will have to put EVERYTHING out of the kitchen either in the hall or the sittingroom. So whats the problem you ask?I was going to Christmas decorate and will have to wait until the week before when it is finished.Already I have been looking through the decoration boxes in the spare room at all my lovely things.Yes I think I am mad too.I am itching to get all those Christmassy things out again.

I am wreath making today with my daughters.

    HO,HO,HO Vx

Wow you are very brave starting the work now BUT imagine how amazing it will look for Christmas!

I'd love to see a picture of the wreath :)
I hate to say this Feisty, but I think your new neighbours need to get a life and suck up the volume of real life. You have been more than considerate about noise and with works being carried out, there is going to be noise, it is impossible not to have that. I suggest you have a word with the HA, you & DH are achieving your dream in a few weeks, if the neighbours keep up with that attitude, you are going to be more afraid of upsetting them than the far more important thing of enjoying watching bub grow and being parents.

I work for a construction company & there was a complaint left on the answering machine one Monday morning, a neighbour complained about our guys starting work too early! We ignored it, they don't use loud tools until it is a reasonable time not to bother the neighbours but with the best will in then world, there is going to be noise.

Lol this definitely made me smile, DH had convinced me that they had every right to be annoyed as it has been going on since August, so I automatically felt like the guilty party. It is nice to know that my initial reaction of I can't believe you're complaining about starting at 10 am etc seemed to be the right one :rotfl:

    Morning all
Feisty ignore them, real life isn't a silent movie. Everyone has to make a little noise just going about day to day stuff, they are being unreasonable expecting you to be totally quiet.
    Happy birthday Pink&fluffy and fluffysox
Went to two Christmas fayres this morning, some nice stuff but wasn't overly impressed. Did win a bottle of mulled wine in the bottle tombola and some chocs in the choc tombola so quite pleased about that
Just had a phone call to say I've won a raffle prize which they'll deliver today, not sure what it is yet.

A mystery raffle prize?! Now that is exciting! If you don't care for the wine or chocs they could make a fab emergency gift for the festive season? I'm a nightmare for recycling unwanted gifts ;)

I think I am in heaven! I'd love one of those! Your DD is very lucky! I imagine you'll be getting requests from everyone for them now, you could consider a business venture ;)
loving that selection box!!! i want one lol

we've had a fab xmassy day. Went and did a bit of xmas shopping this morning (got a lovely blanket for my bed... dd4 said it looks like santas blanket! its red and fluffy lol) and an alice in wonderland themed tin of cookies for dd1. dh bought my stocking - ITS TINY! and the clues he's given me has left my brain doing over time pmsl.

we then went and saw the coca cola lorry.

    12301589_10156450776195647_3924751114296364758_n.jpg?oh=38c3d198b1c3d568999b5eeaed4b1a8c&oe=56EC6905

and then we took dd4 to see SANTA! i admit it, i may have fan girled a little teehee... dh just sat there rolling his eyes. "OMG SANTA! I KNOW HIM!" left my mouth. queue lots of adults giggling ;) i knew they were just jealous lol

dh bought me some craft bits home from work yesterday so i can finish off some elf props... and make a new wreath.

loads to do and little time to do it in ...... i shall get it all done! i shall

hope everyone is well and happy and will be back to catch up again soon.

Lol your elf line made me giggle, DH hates the film and always stares at me blankly if I make a quote or reference!

I'm also very jealous that you got to see the coca cola truck!

A huge thank you to everyone for their very kind words re noise and neighbours! We've decided that I'll pop a card (handmade jack Russell card as they have 3!) And a bottle of plonk round over the next few days. We will fill in the card to say thank you for your patience etc, so fingers crossed it will smooth any friction that there may be.

Moving day went well, but half the boxes are still at the in laws and I'm back to work Monday. I'm taking things slow as I just can't cope with the physical demands of everything.

Our first night in our new home saw me with the worst nights sleep of the entire pregnancy (well since the early days of being in hospital) BUT it was amazing being able to sneak downstairs for a hot chocolate and a read in the wee hours. Unfortunately with plastic protective carpet wrap on the stairs, I may have woken poor DH the two times I gave up and came down but at least he didn't have to put up with me tossing and turning right next to him!

I've had 5 hours of interrupted sleep after an exhausting day and have no idea how well I'm going to cope today, but it's definitely going to start slowly!

I hope you all have a fab day! X

  • AAAwww, Feisty, your first morning waking in your new home, too, you have waited for this, all my best wishes to you all that you will be happy and content there for a long time.
I have had a shock... yesterday my DSIL/BFF said 4weeks time it will all be over! eek, 4 weeks, and as the china end will be here on the 18th, l have less than 3 weeks to get everything ready.
Another first, l sat and watched the Polar Express with the great niece and nephew (l don't watch movies, they take too long).
Then l came home and was tidying DGDs room, looked up and oh, dear, black mould and big damp patch on the ceiling. This time last year a leak in the roof brought down the ceiling in their parents room, will it never end?
Still at least l have a (leaky) roof over my head, so l should be grateful.
  • Feisty Big congratulations on moving in. Don't worry about the neighbours as noise from building works can't be helped. Enjoy your first weeks in your new home before baby's arrival. :)

PrincessKitty Congratulations on selling the house so quickly. It will really help you knowing how much you can spend. it can be a difficult time trying to find a house that you hopefully love as you only have a limited time to view it and decide. :)

  • Wow Vulpix, that selection box is amazing! We actually popped into poundland (or was it poundworld??) yesterday and bought lots of chocolate to make a chocolate hamper for a family member but ours definitely doesn't look as good as yours, it's fab!

Hi everyone, can I join in again? I'm late again this year as I haven't been feeling the Christmas spirit so much until just recently, but I'm starting to get really excited for Christmas!

this year is going to be the first in almost 9 years that I'm going be a single lady over Christmas, my Fiance and I split up about a month or so ago, but I'm still looking forward to Christmas! I had lost my Christmas mojo a little over the past few months, as I've had a difficult year in 2015, I was made redundant earlier in the year unfortunately.

but enough of my depressing rhetoric.... I hope everyone is doing well and nicely prepared for Christmas! I went to B&M bargains yesterday and got a whole bucket-load of sweets so that I can make candy cane sleighs for all the kids in my family (there are loads!) I also treated myself to some lovely Christmas decorations for my Christmas trees. I've decided that now I've got my flat all to myself, I'm going to have a tree in each room! I've got a couple of little trees that I'll put in the bedrooms! they're going up on Tuesday and I can't wait!

I still need to sort out hampers for my mum and dad, but I've got plenty of time to do that. I'm not going to be doing as much as I have in previous years, due to not being prepared enough, but I'll do what I can!

vulpix - that selection box looks AMAZING! your dd is a very lucky girl!

    Jobo xx
I'm usually using a phone, so excuse my spelling please!
  • Morning all
Welcome back jobo sorry this hasn't been a good year hopefully next one will be much better.
The mystery raffle prize was a talking photo album that you can record messages that it plays as you turn the pages. pleased with it but it may be regifted as I think my mum might like it.
Tree has gone up this morning but not yet decorated.
Took a tree round mils with the suggestion she repurposes some of her old lace bobbins as decorations on it so it's given her something to do.

    Have a good Sunday all.

  • Morning all,

How bad was that weather last night? I couldn't sleep due to being sore from nerve in back/leg so was still awake at 2.30am listening to the weather battering the street.
Have stripped the beds, washer and dryer are on. Need to do some ironing. DD still not great, doubt she will be fit for school until weds/thurs if at all this week. Hubby and son gone to church then round to MIL for some food. We were all supposed to be going as all his family were going to be there for a catch up. At least I don't have to cook as he will bring our meals back lol
Trying to sort out my christmas planner and see how far behing I am with everything. I cant shake this feeling that I have not done something really important and Im not going to realise until the last minute.

fiestyfidget- Glad you are taking your time unpacking/moving in. This is a special time moving in/preparing for baby, please make sure you get enough rest even if it is just lay on couch with a good book if you cannot sleep. Mother nature is wonderful isnt it? Preparing your body for lack of sleep ready for when baby comes. It absolutely amazes me how our body starts to prepare us new mums. pity it does not prepare the dads lol x
Mrsinvisible-I still have not seen polar express from beginning to end, may just watch that today. Oh no re the ceiling, hope it is not a big job. We noticed our loft leaking but we having a new roof in the new year. just hoping it holds out until then as all the gifts are in loft lol
    moneymission2015-good luck with your hamper
jobo88-welcome back, sorry to hear the year has been rough for you. Hopefully 2016 is going to be a fab year x Christmas trees in every room should be the law. have got trees for the kids rooms which the elf will put up one day next week, hoping to see if I can get a tree sticker for the kitchen as I have no room for a tree in the kitchen.Candy cane sleighs are so effective and kids love them.
mrs moneypenny-Sounds like a lovely prize.Brilliant if you can use it as a gift x

I made the terrible mistake of not checking in on this thread for a couple of days and it's taken me ages to catch up!

Free, those red Santa cups look amazing and Vulpix, I'm loving that selection box!

My neighbours have their tree up! My mum is stressing because she feels like she's behind - it's not even December! I think I might do some wrapping later - it feels early to start but I enjoy it too much to hold out for much longer!

I have used small snowflake stickers on the big window in my kitchen door for the last few years to make a Christmas tree.
Just fill in an imaginary tree shape with stickers and make a small trunk and pot. It's very effective, especially in the evening.
