I was talking to my mum on the weekend about my freezer. We have an American style fridge/freezer and although I love it, there isn't actually a lot of space in the freezer side, so I am considering getting a chest freezer. I've thought about it in the past but always thought I haven't got the room but my mum suggested putting it in he garage. I've heard you're not supposed to put them in the garage of conservatories due to the fluctuating temperature of these places, but we actually had part of our garage converted in to a useable room so I could get away with it I think. I don't know why I didn't think of it before, I just always thought of the freezer being in the house
So I'm going to have a look to see if I can find a decent priced one and get it ordered.
I finally saw the JL advert during x factor. I can see what message they're trying to convey but it is a little sad. It actually ended and my daughter laughed at me because I said 'oh, poor old man'.0 -
Morning all, hope everyone had a lovely weekend
already looking forward to Friday!
PrincessKitty I know what you mean about stressing even though we're 6 weeks and 4 days away lol
Happy birthday MrsInvisible, sorry I missed it
We went to the Range on Saturday and it was brilliant...so festive and managed to find an angel topper which are hard to find nowadays. We also got some pre-lit present decorations and some multi-coloured outdoor lights for our new shrub so very excited for 1st December so I can start the decoratinggot a Buddy the elf nighty in Primarni that says OMG, Santa's coming, I know him...so had a lazy day yesterday and wore it whilst I watched Elf lol and the OH got a Christmas jumper in there too that has bells, lights up and sings a song, it's amazing!
Almost done for presents now after a very expensive shopping trip this weekend, but I'm yet to buy any wrapping paper because I haven't seen any I like, but need to get a move on now
On the plus side I got a free limited edition diet coke at the train station this morningI'm dreaming... of a white Christmas :snow_grin :xmassmile:rudolf:0 -
_party_ HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY mrsinvisible _party_ I hope you had a lovely day.
mrs-moneypenny thank you for the quote. Your family photoshoot sounds lovely, what a wonderful surprise!
mandco I'm glad the funeral went as well as it could. As others have said it will take time to feel better, be kind to yourself.
Treasurequeen ooh those Elizabeth Shaw chocolates sound yummy, I shall have to look out for them.
Mrs Honey Badger I got someone in a Secret Santa one year who loved card making, I just made them a hamper with blank cards and bits and bobs they could use, she really liked it.
DomRavioli it can be stressful moving before Christmas but you'll be going to the new house that you want and just make sure your decorations are clearly marked!
I don't know where it's come from but I have been feeling quite down these last few days and was quite tearful over the weekend. There is nothing in particular wrong, I feel guilty as I have nothing to complain about but can't shake the feeling, what is worse is having no control over it. I feel a bit better today thankfully and i'm looking forward to Centre Parcs next week. I'm hoping it's just a phase and nothing else, I have had a bit of a bug and the weather has been quite miserable so i'm hoping it's just that.
I went to town yesterday but typically they didn't have anything I needed, even though i've seen the stuff there many times before! I keep going shopping for things on my list but not having any luck! I found the mini bottles of Baileys I needed in my local shop but when I took a closer look I realised they were 8 months out of date so couldn't buy them! I might have a browse online and see if there's any bits I can pick up. I'm at a point now where I don't mind if I have to pay a little bit more, it would be good just to get it packed away for Christmas, I don't want to be running around like a headless chicken which I felt a bit like yesterday!I did however manage to spend about £10 on magazines which I feel guilty about and isn't very MSE odf me. Magazines are my weakness and I was seduced by the Christmassy ones like Good Housekeeping and Prima, even though I don't really have much time to read them! Very bad me!

I just went to Tesco in my lunch break and was picking up some of the small Christmas chocolates, like smarties tubes etc. There was an elderly man next to me looking at the advent calendars and he turned to me and said, 'isn't it terrible, my daughter is 26 now and still expects an advent calendar' I laughed, thinking to myself 'oh if only you knew'. I told him I also get one and he laughed and said he wouldn't have it any other way0

MoneyMission2015 - Just got my advent calendar today. It's got the Avengers on it and extra chunky chocolates for the last few days! I'm such a child. :rotfl:
Awful weather here today. Really hard rain combined with strong winds. Lovely.
Went to Asda. Got my little niece a jar of santa babies (jelly babies) in the shape of santa. Also picked up a tube of sweets for my brother. Might get him a t-shirt to go with it. He does tend to wear them until they die a death!
Got some wrapping paper too. One with stars on and one with a red and white pattern. Think I'll get some gold tags and bows to go with them.
Hope we're all well. I'm off to attempt some study. I really hate Little Women and shall be glad when I never have to read it again...“In 900 years of time and space, I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important”

Just popping my head in
Got all my shoebox stuff sorted this morning - was a bit concerned when I started as I couldn't see much I liked but I hit Wilkinsons and hit the roll!
Three shoeboxes filled and I spent £12 in B+M (£5 of that was stuff for me, so £8) and £20 in Wilkos (about £5 on stuff I needed, so £15) - £23 for the rest of all three shoeboxes, which means each one has been about £11 all in which I'm pretty happy with as I won't be doing much else present wise this year other than my immediate family (4 people).
I'm not really sure what to put in the cards to go in them though, I always feel really awkward writing about myself and besides two of my boxes are for 5 - 9 year olds so do I really need to? I probably should. I'll raid the Christmas card box, lol.
Also picked up a few stocking fillers for my Mum, so that's started. Finding anything at all for my Dad is the tricky part. We try and keep the stocking fillers under £1 which means that he mainly ends up with chocolate... and he's on a diet now. So£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0 -

I bought an upright freezer recently from JL. When shopping around, I noticed that some freezers are considered to be suitable for garage use, others not. To do with the minimum temperature at which it will operate, I think.0 -
Afternoon everyone, DS managed to get me my christmas scratchcards today and the stamps to post the christmas cards, flipping eck £6.48 for 12 stamps  saddo that i am i only need 8 and very rarely need stamps these days! BTW i have watched the JL ad a couple of times and am softening towards it
i am not impressed with any of them this year (must be me)
MRSMONEYPENNY oh what a lovely surprise for you and DH from your children
MONEYMISSION i have actually bought loads for thumper this year from argos and after checking prices they definitely were the cheapestand i am an amazon girl through and through so it definitely does depend on what you are buying! But i must say i have a massive Smyths just up the road and i really ought to look in there, but when i am getting argos vouchers from surveys i dont really have a lot of choice. Re: the freezer, i am the same great big american fridge freezer but the freezer bit isnt big enough
so i have a chest freezer in my shed (concrete not wooden) and i have had it out there for nearly 10 years and it has always been fine, has worked through the harsh winters and the boiling hot summers we have had so definitely go for it!
CLUMSY its so annoying isnt it?? nothing lasts anymore!!
IRISHROSE yep me too watched the christmas bunny, hot choc in hand and christmas planner in the other lol
DOMRAVIOLI good luck with the move it will be lovely having your first christmas in your new home
PEPPAPIG had to laugh at the chicken saga :rotfl:your garlands were a fab bargain!
WHITESATIN oh bless DGS what a lovely thing to say
MRSINVISIBLE glad you had a lovely day, well done on the christmas jumper i bet it looks gorgeous!
ELLIE oh that is the t shirt my DD1 wants for work this year haha
PRINCESSKITTY i am the same at the moment honey, i am having to force myself to post on here, i just want to read and run! I get like it this time every year though, i dont know why i just feel tearful and really down and want to withdraw from life! I have managed to get myself down from 2 A/Ds to half of one a day this year and am determined not to go up again! Sending you lots of hugs x
CLUMSY i have only had an advent calendar the last few years (well not counting being a kid) the kids made me buy one when i split up with my ex and i have had one every year since, i love it! I dont know why i never used to have one :rotfl:

Thank you whitesatin, I shall have a look at the spec when I am looking for one.
Clumsy - You have to have an advent calendar, it's like Christmas law :rotfl:
Oh I did used to love Little Women, but then I guess its different when you're reading it for study rather than for pleasure. I must admit though, I preferred just watching the movie which is not like me at all because usually I will choose books over the movie every time!
KMN - well done on getting all that stuff sorted in one hit and at such a good price too. A lady near to where I live is doing a shoe box appeal for our local area, so I have to get that sorted. Have got until 11th December but I'd prefer to get it done now because if I leave it to the last minute I know I'll end up panic buying and just spend money unnecessarily then.
princesskitty - that's rubbish about the Baileys bottles. I actually want a few miniatures myself but haven't been able to find any. I'll let you know if I see any. I hope you feel better soon, I think everybody gets time when they feel a little low but if it carries on for a prolonged period of time make sure you get yourself to the doctors just so they can make sure you're alright. I find going for a run always makes me feel good, but I'm guessing you don't get much chance to have time for yourself with the little one. I hope you enjoy Center Parcs, we always love going there and used to go every year before Christmas but just haven't had the time the past few years and I really miss it. You will love it, they decorate everywhere and it feels so cosy walking around the forest all wrapped up warm or going to your lodge and putting the fire on, I love it
Free - I must have been typing while you posted because I missed your post, so instead of creating a new reply I thought I'd just edit this one to say Hello. Thanks for letting me know about the freezer, I don't think I'll worry so much now if I do get one and if my OH comments I'll tell him I've done some researchI can't believe how expensive stamps are, I had to order some for our office a few months ago and was shocked at the price.
