Saw the JL ad on line this morning - seemed ok but didn't do a lot for me but then they didn't in other years either until I'd seen them a few times then I loved them so expect it will be the same this year. I think Aurora's voice is lovely.
Irish Rose I've got Meggie for the elf project and I've also got her and her family for the reindeer cards although must admit I'm a bit stuck what to write for that one so if you've got any ideas I'd love a pm. I'm going to post about the same time as you - I want the parcel to get there before the main Christmas rush starts.
Well done Kaya, we'll all be asking for your autograph soon lol.
I've bought Christmas jumpers for the past two years and hated both of them once I got them home - one I made a cushion cover out of and one went to the charity shop lol. I'm really kicking myself that I never bought the Cath Kidston one a couple of years ago when it was reduced to £30 in the outlet shop at Bicester - I dream about it now it was so lovely, a pale blue fluffy one with a vintage Santa face on it, all rosy cheeks and big white beard.
Congrats on the unexpected payout for DH MrsG - good timing.
MrsM I think the box idea sounds lovely and not at all cheesy. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Hi everyone! I've been staying at my mum's for a few days as DH was away with work again so just had a quick catch up.
ellie before Wiggle was born I used to really enjoy going to midnight mass, it is a lovely service and I do like to remember why we're celebrating Christmas. This year there is a family service at around 6pm that i'm going to try to get to, although sometimes Wiggle needs to be in bed by then so we'll see!
whitesatin I personally think it's a great idea to give her the Playmobil calendar for her birthday, I bet she'll love it!
mrs-moneypenny i'm sorry to hear there isn't much they can do for your MiL, you are being an absolute star with her though and it sounds like you make her life as easy as you can. I really love the sound of that marriage quote, I wonder if there's a way I can find it on Pinterest? It sounds like something i'd like to use for my DH.
Peppapig sorry to hear you have a sore throat, it made me laugh though about you being sex on legs for germs! :rotfl: I have a sore throat too at the moment and feel a bit rough, I can't seem to shift it.
04624181 yay for all that wine! :T
Pixie Fairydust those Russian dolls are really cute. My DH went to Russia for work and brought me back some traditional Russian dolls - Wiggle loves playing with them!
IrishRose sorry to hear you're feeling so rough, I hope you feel better soon. If you're really feeling that unwell perhaps you shouldn't be going to work? Look after yourself.
I saw the JL advert yeasterday, it has a very powerful message. I was disappointed as it left me feeling very sad as opposed to having a warm, fuzzy feeling inside like the others, but I do get what they're trying to say. I have often thought in the past about becoming a befriender with Age UK and the JL advert has reminded me of this, I would just need to work out how I could fit it in around Wiggle.
I realised the other day that I do already have a Christmas decoration up - last year I put some fairy lights around a kitchen cupboard, I loved them so much that I left them up all year! I've been switching them on more recently.
I've been getting in a panic the last few days as I keep forgetting it is my brother's 40th on Christmas Eve!! Normally I don't worry about his birthday as I just buy a selection of presents and divide them into birthday and Christmas, but i'd like to get him something special this year as it's his 40th. I've been so focused on Christmas that i've let this slip. Need to get my thinking cap on.
I'm hoping to pop to town today to try to get a few more bits off my list. I did go to the shops when I was at my mum's but disappointingly they didn't really have anything I needed. You can tell i'm a wannabe organised Christmas nut as i've still got stuff left to buy and i'm getting into a panic the first week into November - most people don't even start until December! I have to keep reminding myself that I do still have plenty of time left to get what I need! I did manage to buy some small plastic milk bottles from Home Bargains that i'm going to decorate and use for chocolate milkshake at our North Pole breakfast!0 -
OMG just watched the Ikea advert and I actually cried! I think some of that is to do with me being unwell of course.....;)
It made me think of Wiggle. He has toys and he enjoys playing with them, but the look of joy on his face when DH or I sit down to play with him is priceless. You can really see on his face that he is so happy that we are joining in playing with him. It has certainly made me realise how much this means to him and this advert just reinforces that.0 -

Oh my goodness kitty, you just made me well up! I haven't seen the ikea advert yet but I know exactly what you mean about that face.

Princess kitty the quote is called "the marriage box" hopefully this will work https://www.pinterest.com/pin/438467713700564451/
Totally agree about the ikea and Jl ads, ikea yes what childhood and parenting is all about. The Jl one whole very owner full and clever made me sad and emotional not warm and fuzzy. It made me think of those who are no longer here who I can't share Christmas with.SPC~12 ot 124

I saw on fb yesterday that the director of the jl ad is brother of a girl I worked with, so well done him.
Thought I would attack with a vengeance today. Was in shops by 10:30, late I know. Was manic & I hate being in crowded shops with 20 people together in a queue but only 1 actually paying for anything, why can't the others wait outside?. Anyway was chuffed to pick up It's a Wonderful Life in Superdrug for £7. No idea where my copy is, so glad to replace cheaply as for some reason this film is always about twice that. Went for a coffee afterwards and was thinking I had spent more than I thought so looked at my receipt, dvd had been charged at £10, even though it was clearly marked £7:eek:. Went back needless to say & got my refund. So if any of you are buying a copy there, check before you leave!
Got home to make bed, decided it is time for the king size duvet to come out, could I find the covers, not a hope. Luckily I bought a nice new Christmassy one in ikea, so had to get my nice new red Egyptian cotton bottom sheet out, only to discover that it was wrongly labelled, and although correct size, is actually a duvet cover:( Oh well, will be used again, got double bed but like king size duvet for winter as I can get away with a lighter one wrapped around me:D.
Going to start wrapping later & write my cards done, so will hopefully be able to get some tidying done at same time, place looks as if a bomb has hit it.
Going to make dinner first though, so that the chuck can absorb flavours for a couple of hours.
Have a good day.A smile costs little but creates much

Hi everyone:j
Just wanted to say Sorry for being misiing for a few days. Been manic here. Managed to spend 4 hours wrapping gifts on thursday, it was fantastic. Had the christmas music on and I absolutely loved it. Yesterday was spent restuffing lounge settee seat cushions, wash and hung my winter curtains and put all my new cushions on the settee. It looks fantastic, really cosey. Busy day today, although ds football was cancelled we have not stopped. been clearing some junk, washing, cleaning and after tea we had a small box of fireworks in the back garden. It was nice. Hubby away from tomorrow until weds in London on work training course. Waiting for payday friday so I can purchase the next lot of gifts and christmas bits. Its going to be an everning of list making tomorrow once the kids are in bed. Got 2 online baskets full of gifts ready to purchase.
Will catch up with the thread properly soon xx
Hope everybody is ok, christmas kisses and sprinkles to everyone xx0 -
Hi everyone
Not posted much but I have been reading every day. Only need my dh and sister mains pressies and 2 small gifts for dd2 to even them out with dd1.
Bought loads over the last few days as I've just been paid. Got my step sons and step daughter tins of chocolates to go with their money. Small gift set for ex bill. Finished dh's stocking. Got both dd's trainers ordered today with a 25% discount from footlocker. Received all of my personalised cards from funky pigeon that were half price. Bought some new decorations. Bought granddaughter some ugg boots and there are some more things but I can't remember them now lol. Phew no wonder I'm so tired tonight.
Can't get my sisters present til she chooses something and she told me today that shes going to pick something when we go to London after the beginning of December. Dh said he wants a new hoody but he can chose that himself. I'm so busy picking things for everyone I've not chose anything for myself so I've gotta get my thinking cap on xxMarch 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000 -
