MRSHONEYBADGER omg i think my DD1 would beat yours hands down, her room does actually look like one of these hoarder programmes, how she lives like it i just dont know, she used to be the tidiest little girl ever, all her polly pocket stuff used to be lined up on her shelves, never a piece out of place, then she hit teenage years, and bang her room looks like an explosion has gone off all the time she is now 26.......... i just avoid going in there now! Yayy to the costa christmas coffees :xmassmile

I would welcome advice, please. My granddaughter will be 7 on 1st December. I bought a Playmobil Advent Calendar in John Lewis on special offer. It looks great fun and I thought it might help "extend" her birthday through to Christmas. I have wrapped it up now but am wondering if it is a bit naff to give her something Christmassy for her birthday just because she is a December baby.

I'm a December baby and love getting Christmas themed presents for my birthday as it means I can actually get some use from them that year, rather than having to wait until the next Christmas ;)

Pixie Fairydust - I also love the Christmas episode of The Office! Also Gavin and Stacey, Him and Her, The Royle Family... any Christmas episode of a British sitcom and I'm there!

cbsexec - The nativity sounds great, especially the donkeys!

Had a bit of a panic yesterday - I have some minor eye surgery coming up, and I contacted the hospital to see if they'd had any cancellations. Yesterday they emailed me saying they'd cancelled and rebooked my existing appointment for a date when I'll be in Finland! I called back immediately and halfway through explaining what had happened, the call dropped, and I couldn't get back through. I finally managed to get my old appointment back before they gave it away again, but that was a seriously worrying hour - I've been waiting months for this appointment!

It's my brother's birthday tomorrow, so once that's out of the way it's all systems go for Christmas :)

That must have been very worrying, I'm so glad it got sorted though!
Wow I managed to upload a photo! Not sure how tbh!

These are the Russian nesting dolls for Goldilocks for my lovely DGD. She is 4 so they are nice and chunky and bits won't get lost or swallowed by her younger sister!

It was this one or the Giant Turnip!

The web site for the shop is http://www.matryoshkarussiandolls.co.uk/

Ok off to watch The Apprentice on catch up!

Those dolls are adorable, just think of all the fun you can have acting out Goldilocks and the three bears ;)

Still nothing festive to report my end, although the Christmas orders have officially started coming in. I spent yesterday making Santa money card/voucher wallets and personalized reindeer tags - very festive!

I may actually start wrapping this weekend! I've realised that I can't wait until we move to start wrapping (and be MSE by using the stash we already have) as it will be too stressful! So I'm off to buy some cheap wrap and ribbons at the weekend :)

    Morning all
Hope everyone is as well as can be
Kaya glad you got your appts sorted out and the original one back
Love the goldilocks Russian dolls, I have a pretty Set I must bring them down at Christmas instead of leaving them tucked away upstairs

Did a little bit more online shopping last night, and got part of ds1s 21st pressie sorted.
Think I've found the perfect Christmas/new home pressie for a friend but need to work out how to print of a poem from pintrest or find some nice paper and practice my neat handwriting and write it out. There's a lovely verse called 'the marriage box' I found all about marriage starting off empty like a box and you fill it with love trust companionship etc, and as long as you but in more than you take out the box/your marriage will always have these things in it. I found a lovely wooden embossed box yesterday so could put the words in for her. It doesn't sound too cheesy does it?

Busy most of the day do won't be able to pop in much, hope everyone has a lovely day

  • Mrsmoneypenny - sad news about mil. It must be an awful situation for you all to go through.

Honeybadger - oh I know the "hoarders" room look all too well, dd1 drives me mad with the state of her room, but as she is 15, I refuse to do it for her. We have resorted to keeping her door closed at all times, and any ironed clothes etc, are left outside the door for her to put away!

Also thanks for the costa heads up - off into town tomorrow so may just pop in. mmmm gingerbread latte!

All the talk of nativities has got me nervous, this year, for the first time, I am co director of our ks1 nativity. We are due to hand out the parts next week, and are expecting complaints, as our play includes mice & hens, and a Mary that doesn't say a word!

pinknfluffy - our 15 year old is the complete opposite which is strange really for a teenager. She keeps her bedroom so tidy, her make up is in a drawer and is kept so organised I think she might have inherited a touch of my OCD :rotfl:. However, she doesn't put her clothes away. I refuse to do it so I just put it in her room in one of those big Ikea bags and leave her to do it. But apart from the bag of clothes currently sitting on her bedroom floor, the rest of her room is very tidy.

04624181 - oh how great is that. I don't drink wine either so I would do the same as you and use them as gifts for people. I occasionally get given bottles of wine for birthdays or Christmas, which I don't end up drinking, so I just give them as gifts to somebody else. The only sort of wine I drink is the sparkling Lambrusco, nothing fancy for me :rotfl: That reminds me I do need to get to Marks & Spencer to stock up on a few of the bottles. I bought 6 bottles a few months ago, 3 are reserved as Christmas presents, 1 was given to my stepmum for her birthday and the other 2 we drank ourselves. So I want to get more in for ourselves for Christmas.

The Matalan saga hasn't really resolved itself. Basically I still have to go to store to return the items and the twitter response wasn't very helpful really, they just said they can't understand why the store couldn't process the refund as I had the returns note and they could have put it through the system with that. But they have given me a 20% off code to use, because I said that the experience has put me off buying from them again, so I guess if I do see anything at least I have 20% off. I might see if my mum wants to use the code though because I really don't think there is anything I need to order now.

peppa - glad to hear the studio saga is over. It's disappointing when somewhere lets you down so badly because it does put you off buying from them again doesn't it. I hope they are worth all the stress!!

freespirit - have you really put some decs up? :rotfl:We have a few of our Disney Christmas ornaments out now, got them down from the attic a few days ago. I can't wait to get all my decorations sorted. I'm in charge of sorting them out in our office too and I've been told by the Directors that I can buy new ones this year because the ones we currently have are a bit rubbish, so this is like my dream - buying Christmas things but not spending my own money! :j

white satin - our 7 year old daughter has 2 playmobil advent calendars and she loves them. Actually we all do, including our 15 year old, even though she doesn't like to admit it :)

I ordered a few more Christmas presents last night. Disney store have a few good offers online at the moment so I placed an order with them and Lego shop have some fab Lego sets and if you spend over £50 you get a free Christmas train set, so I ordered some bits from them too.

Right, i'd better get a bit of work done for now but I'll be dropping in throughout the day as I'm trying to keep up with the thread now as it's moving along so quickly I find that if I only log on once a day there's just so much to catch up on!!

I do love it though. I'm already looking forward to the 2016 thread xx

Well I seem to have missed loads again so sorry if I miss any one in my replies.
I did buy a chocolate orange last night but..... it lasted all of 1 hour before me and the OH had already demolished it (oops).
04624181 - Yes, I love crisp mornings too - all wrapped up walking through the woods etc. Not today though - rain, rain and more rain. That's great about the wine :)
Free - Yes, I've been far from 'money saving' this year :o
funny bunny - Just a suggestion but couldn't you suggest that people put to for one of the bigger presents on your boys lists?
Linz - I'm sorry about your grandad x
  • Thanks for the suggestion cherry24 but because the people asking we're on either side of the family (oh mum and my mum) they wanted to get a gift on their own. It's all sorted now I think lol until the boys totally change their minds.
The sickness bug has hit the house! Got the eldest (9) off school as been sick a few times this morning and had high temp over night so was having nightmares. Also the youngest (2) was sick yesterday, so no Christmas things done the last couple days!
Hoping the Arg0s 3 4 2 is on tomorrow as done 2 reservations for it.
Hope everyone has a lovely day and a safe bonfire night xx
Only 50 days to go!! :santa2:

Hi everyone, I am sneaking Christmas in bit by bit as I have put all my Yankee candles stuff out which includes a load of gingerbread men candle holders, very sparkly :rotfl::rotfl: and also our coasters went missing the other day (we suspect our grandson has posted them somewhere) so I had to break out the Christmas ones I had ordered :D.

One of my personalised duvet sets from Studio has arrived but there has been no word on the other one. I hope it comes in the next week or so though so I can give them to my grandchildren.

I've ordered my turkey from Musclefood and that is coming on Dec 22nd fingers crossed. We had one from them last year and it was amazing. It's all boned out and rolled so there was no waste and no bones to dispose of either.

I've pretty much bought all my gifts for the girls now, just need something for hubby but I'm waiting to see if there is anything on Amazon on Black Friday. I've mostly wrapped everything too as I've gone along so I am looking forward to chilling out in December.

Hope you are all still enjoying the Christmas prep, take care xx

kaya - I particularly love the vicar of dibley christmas episode, but you're right, pretty much any christmas episode of british sitcoms and I will watch it :)

Pixie Fairydust - Those Russian dolls are soooo cute! :)

I'm thinking about buying some remote controlled tea lights this year. I have an all white ceramic christmas village but I didn't turn it on much last year because it took ages to do all the individual houses. If I could just point a remote at them it would be so much easier! :rotfl:

Hoping to go pick up my Next order on sunday. And my niece's tea set has been ordered from ELC. Now to think about those relatives that are hard to buy for...

Hope everyone has a lovely Bonfire Night. I shall have a look out the window at the fireworks lol
