Phew Kaya1991 that must of been stressful time whilst you got it sorted out x0

I love the ikea ad, it proves Christmas is about the presence not the presents. But presents are nice.
Thank you for the kind comments about my mil, sadly I think the fact she is in her late 80s and has cancer plus a heart problem means that the Drs are limiting what they are prepared to do for her. We will keep plodding on and I will do what I can to keep her happy and as mobile possible.SPC~12 ot 124

PIXIEFAIRYDUST sorry i realised in bed last night that someone had asked me a question and i had completely forgotten to answer, the North Pole Breakfast is an activity from Elf on the Shelf, it usually happens when the elf comes to stay for the month of December and is full of sweet stuff really, doughnuts, pancakes, sweets, milkshake, crumpets in christmas tree shapes, bananas and strawberries in candy cane shapes, waffles, cookies etc a once a year sugar fest basically for kids#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0 -

QUIDSY sounds promising seen as you and PEPPAPIG have had dispatch emails

Pixie fairydust yes, if you pay for a delivery plan from Tesco you get priority on the christmas slots.
PinknFluffy I told my daughter she can put her tree up when her room does not look like it should be on a hoarders programme!!!
White Satin My kids would love a thoughful gift like that!!!
More pressies ticked off my list today. Booked daughter in for her hair to be done, she only has it cut 2 times a year, its on the 22nd of December. Eeeek...
Think Costa release their Christmas drinks tomorrow. Holidays are coming!!!!0 -
Mrsmoneypenny - sad news about mil. It must be an awful situation for you all to go through.
Honeybadger - oh I know the "hoarders" room look all too well, dd1 drives me mad with the state of her room, but as she is 15, I refuse to do it for her. We have resorted to keeping her door closed at all times, and any ironed clothes etc, are left outside the door for her to put away!
Also thanks for the costa heads up - off into town tomorrow so may just pop in. mmmm gingerbread latte!
All the talk of nativities has got me nervous, this year, for the first time, I am co director of our ks1 nativity. We are due to hand out the parts next week, and are expecting complaints, as our play includes mice & hens, and a Mary that doesn't say a word! It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
Woo hoo – the quilt cover sets arrived from Studio today! :j The saga is over at last and once I’ve paid for these I won’t be ordering anything again. Quidsy, hope your order arrives quickly too.
Well done Ellie, I have to check 04624181 at least once every time I write it lol. I think given your tendency to go bonkers at all things Christmas it’s probably very sensible of your OH to limit your driving during the festive season. I took the DDs to midnight mass once when they were younger but to be honest it wasn’t what I expected. I think I was hoping for Christmas carols and festivity but it was quite sombre and the sermon went on for ever so we didn’t go again. Hope you love it if you go though, I know a lot of people do – I think we’d have liked it if it had been more like GTQ’s experience.
MoneyMission that’s ridiculous isn’t it. Why on earth don’t they think these things through when they set up their on line ordering. I think I’d have had a similar problem with ELC/Mothercare if it wasn’t that I got a really nice girl when I phoned up and she told me to ask for her when I went in-store.
Cbsexec the nativity sounds lovely – I hope it snows just a little bit for you too.
Whitesatin I think it would be lovely to have the advent calendar from DD's birthday to lead up to Christmas – might as well get herschooled in Christmas anticipation as early as possible.:D
04624181 that’s a lovely idea, we used to have a night time trip when the children were small . There used to be a cul-de-sac in one of the local towns where we lived then and almost all the houses in it were completely decorated outside in the run up to Christmas – it was lovely.
MrsM that’s very sad about your MIL. It’s nice that she will feel loved and wanted though and will know that you are there to support her when she needs it.
Mrs Honey Badger I remember the hoarders bedroom well. I have one DD that is fanatically tidy (and now she has a home of her own it's spotless and beautiful) and one whose room when she was at home used to resemble a jumble sale and we had to clamber over her clothes to get anywhere. Thankfully she has improved with age.
PinknFluffy, I like the sound of your nativity – you could always follow Love Actually and have lobsters :rotfl:
Well, with the excitement of the arrival of the quilt covers I have been on a roll and bought lots of the bits I needed to finish pressies and this afternoon I have ‘hampered’ up the things for the DDs and the older grandchildren so I’m feeling very pleased with myself. I’ve been pretty hopeless lately so actually feel in control again today. I have however managed to develop a sore throat – my immune system is either rubbish or I am sex on legs for germs! It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Evening All
:):)
elliew8 - My cats are old! but when they see paper they turn into kittens again! I think midnight mass sounds like a nice tradition. I've never been but its on my 'to do' list as our cathedral is wonderful and I think it would be really special. (the summer solstice at Stonehenge is another on my 'to do' list!).
cbsexec - The village nativity sounds wonderful! I have visions of The Vicar of Dibley Christmas special :rotfl:
White Satin - I think the presents sounds lovely and like you say it will be a month long present for her to enjoy!
04624181 -This is the meerkat mug http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00IAOWYYI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_8&smid=A375TG3LU4YUTY I think I'm going to get for secret santa. Its a bit more than £5 but I would be happy to get it I'm going to put a couple of hot choc sachets in the mug and tonight in L!dl I got a marzipan loaf for 99p.
The Christmas camping trip to the lounge sounds like fun!
Kaya 1991 - Have you seen A Child's Christmasses in Wales with Ruth Jones from Gavin & Stacey? Its well worth a watch :T
I work in the NHS and in my department any new referrals are waiting around 16 weeks to be seen! It's dire at the moment. Glad you got the original appointment back!
FreeSpirit - The north pole b'fast sounds great! Like you say good fun once a year!
Mrs Honey Badger - I didn't realise that about the Christmas slots! I don't have a pre-payment plan, I'll just have to be on the ball and try to get in as soon as the slots are released! In the hospital we have a C0sta so I'll check it out tomorrow! I love $tarbucks Christmas coffee's also. Did anyone try the pumpkin latte?
PinknFluffy - Good luck with your directing debut! You just can't please some parents can you! I was on the PTA at my kids junior school, the PTA parents gave up their free time to organise activities and at every event without fail we had parents complaining about something!
We had some Easter Eggs donated one year, they were lovely large eggs, one for every child in the school (it was a small school at the time) they were all Cadbury Button eggs and one parent complained that there wasn't a choice! They were FREE!!!!
Another parent moaned she had to stay at the Christmas disco with her children (both under 10) she thought we would supervise them! Don't get me wrong I loved being part of it but it was exasperating at times!
In L!dl tonight they had got some lovely Christmassy bits, stollen, panettone, spiced biscuits, chocs etc. I bought myself a bottle of strawberry and lime cider
Hope you all have a lovely evening.

Just had to come on to tell you all my afternoon news.....
Was talking to a mum today at school this morning that referred me to her local gym which I joined 2 months ago. Anyway last week they gave her 6 bottles of wine for referring me.A quick phone call to the gym explaining I referred 2 other mums from school ended with me going to pick up 12 bottles of wine this afternoon. A mix of red, rose and white. Cant believe it ! wish we drank the stuff lol x Thats more gifts sorted out lol The make is Il Branchetto. Means nothing to me as I think all wine tastes like paintstripper but it makes gift giving easier for us.:j:j0 -
Wow I managed to upload a photo! Not sure how tbh!
These are the Russian nesting dolls for Goldilocks for my lovely DGD. She is 4 so they are nice and chunky and bits won't get lost or swallowed by her younger sister!
It was this one or the Giant Turnip!
The web site for the shop is http://www.matryoshkarussiandolls.co.uk/
Ok off to watch The Apprentice on catch up!
