Sorry to hear about your nan Cherry
Christmas is starting to spread in Tesco but I still heard someone muttering today that it was far too early to think about it yet - I smirked when I thought of a lot of people who are on here and pretty much done already :rotfl:
Still waiting on things like selection boxes to appear on offer so I can get a few more things sorted.
Welcome to all the new Christmas nuts - it gets slightly addictive in here...0 -
Hi all, welcome to all the new Christmas nuts! There are so many out there.
I'm still on the iPad as we paid Microsoft to fix an issue on our laptop, but not only have they not fixed it but they've broken it so we now can't use it! We now have to take the time out to take it somewhere to get it fixed! It's a bit of a nightmare and I've spent hours on the phone to them which isn't easy with a baby. Anyway, rant over!
Cherry I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your Grandparents, what a sad time for you. Wishing you lots of strength and sending lots of hugs, hopefully all the Christmas chatter will give you a bit of cheer. xx
I haven't managed to do anything Christmassy this week, DH started his new job on Wednesday and I kept my diary busy with Wiggle. I feel lost without my Christmas spreadsheet which is on the laptop, Microsoft said they could fix our laptop but that we'd lose all of our data - my first thought was I CANNOT LOSE MY CHRISTMAS SPREADSHEET! My lesson in all of this is to back up my data more often!0 -
I feel for you with your laptop problems PrincessKitty, I absolutely hate it when anything goes wrong with laptop or broadband - the frustration of dealing with some of the 'techie' (and sometimes not so techie) people on the phone is definitely not good for our blood pressure!!! Hats off to you for managing it with a baby to consider too
I'm trying to back up every month - only the key things that I've added since last backup (like photos and bank spreadsheets) but must admit I do skip it quite often so will take this as a warning to be more diligent!
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Thanks to all for your kind words and condolences. I'm going to buy 2 Christmas tree ornaments that represent each grandparent in their own way for my tree this year. A shamrock for my Irish grandad and an elephant for my nan as she collected elephants.
Hi MoneyMission - I will take a look at the lego ones too. I liked the look of the Playmobil Santa's workshop one. They have a playroom so hopefully there will be space to display it.0 -
Well I felt at a loose end this afternoon so I've sat and written out my Xmas cards. Nothing like being prepared lol. Still got to get my special cards which will be a bit bittersweet as I only have to get one for my mum this year as my dad passed away on the 27th Dec. I've got to try my hardest to make up for this with my mum as she's a Christmas nut like me but she's talking of not putting her decorations up this year or making a fuss. If my dad knew he would go mad! He loved Xmas just as much.0

Hello everyone! Another long time (I think a couple of years maybe?) lurker here.
It gets to september every year and my thoughts always turn to Christmas. Think I just like having something to look forward to! This seems to be the right place to come for sharing early Christmas excitement without annoying family/friends.
Looking forward to chatting with you all.“In 900 years of time and space, I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important”

Welcome to the thread Clumsy - love your name lol. This is definitely the best place to be to talk all things Christmas
Cherry, that's a lovely idea. Someone I once worked with gave me a Christmas tree decoration as a Christmas present one year. At the time I thought it was a bit of a strange pressie but actually it was a great one - every year when I put the tree up and get the decorations out I think of her as I put that one on the tree.
Haribo, maybe you could gently mention that to her and hopefully she'll get some comfort from celebrating something they did together. It must be so hard for her and I bet she's so glad she's got you looking out for her. Hope you can enjoy Christmas too, it'll be hard for you as well xIt's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
I totally forgot as I had kleft them in the boot of my car but I picked up 2 christmassy books in the charity shop last week.
One a fiction called "Kiss me under the mistletoe" by Fiona Harper & the 2nd the Delia Smith's Christmas cook book in hard back.
I'm settled with a cup of tea & plan to browse the cook book for some inspiration. The other I shall keep to read on my week off before Christmas
Hope everyone is having a great Saturday, condolences to all who have suffered loss this year, as I said to my friend who has lost her MIL & Bil within a week of each other & after losing my bestie this year, 2015 can go DO ONE.I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.
