Evening everyone, i think i am going to make my mincemeat tomorrow and then store it until i am ready to make mince pies
and then do a bit more christmas crafting (with a fleecy blanket over my knees and a hot choc cos my conservatory was flipping freezing today!!)
CUPOFCHAI i used to buy my nans their favourite treats, like stem ginger, posh biscuits, sherry, new slippers, hand cream etc i know they arent very exciting but they didnt want 'stuff' just a little treat that they couldnt afford to buy themselves. Hope you feel better soon! Oh just remembered one of my nans always wanted me to make her a christmas cake!
Sorry another thing they used to love was an Amarylis (sp?) or hyacinths
DARLYNZ hi and welcome to our thread, im sorry you have had a rough year with your illness. I dont blame you getting the Tracy Island early they are still so popular!!
HARIBO aww i love love Elf
DOODYGIRL im being quite thick here but how do you know what to reserve? Or are all toys and games included? I have never bought from the Argos 3 for 2 before :rotfl:
MONEYMAKER aww the elfs enchanted cottage is cute, the cake would look lovely in a hamper! Will keep an eye out for advent calendar
SERENDIPITIOUS hi and welcome to our thread

Woo hoo, this thread is moving fast now - almost at the point where you can't miss a day for fear of never catching up lol.
Welcome Lemonade_money and Darlynz - for all things Christmas there's no better place to be.
Moneymaker, thanks for the heads up on the elf house - could be something to do with DGD in the few days before Christmas. I made the Ikea gingerbread house last year - it looked quite good when it was finished but was a lot more stressful to put together than I thought it would be.
Nothing much to report here at the mo although I did record three Christmas films from True Movies at the weekend. Problem is I've arranged to downgrade the Sky to the basic package from the end of this month and they said we lose childrens tv, documentaries and movies and we also lose any recordings from those channels (mean or what!) so if True Movies goes I'll lose them anyway. On the plus size, as DH got the Netflix subscription for his birthday I can see if there are any good Christmas films on there. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -

Morning everyone :coffee: and thanks for all the warm welcomes :blushing:
Well last night I finally did my first bit of christmas shopping. Managed to sort gifts for 1 nephew, my niece, 1 birthday present, and got a couple of stocking fillers for my kids.
I had a read of the MSE email early this morning and found the amazon free £10 bit interesting, so I'm off to investigate that now as I could really do with an amazon freebie!
I think the ideas for the older-people-gifts are fabulous! I always get a nice box of chocolates, but had forgotten about tins of biscuits and the plants too. Is the poinsettia the christmas plant?! It's red isn't it? Oh can't you just tell I'm such a plant expert......:rotfl::xmassmile:rudolf:0 -
2 more days until payday - cannot wait! Only 2 paydays left for me, as December is paid on 23rd December.
Have already started planning, but im really struggling for my mum!
She has arthritis and is disabled, aged 63. I have got her a back stretcher (funny gift but I know its something she'll like and actually use!!):wave:0 -

Then Google it. Then put it in camelcamelcamel to see what the lowest price item had ever been to satisfy myself I was getting a bargain! Lol! The things we do!
I did the same but it still came out much cheaper so to Argos I go today on my lunchbreak! :rotfl:0 -
