I don't get the MRSI joke :( Help!

Freespirit that's such a shame, especially as you were very brave to try to make the appointment. I am very cross on your behalf  and I'd like to punch your receptionist! I work in the NHS and it always make me laugh when GP surgeries have notices up about not abusing their staff. Although I fully support people not being abused at work I do think that some of them would get less abuse if they had a personality bypass.

Anyway, you can flag up that there are no GP appointments with your NHS England regional team because it's them who commission GP services and monitor performance and they should be looking into cases where patients can't get an appointment. It used to be the responsibility of Primary Care Trusts but they don't exist any more. This link http://www.england.nhs.uk/about/regional-area-teams/
will take you to the regional team page and if you click on your region's name it should give you the contact info. If you can't bring yourself to do that you could try bypassing the surgery and making use of the local out-of-hours service which you should be able to access through the 111 service - just dial 111 in the evening or at the weekend and they'll go through your symptoms and if you need to see a GP they'll make an appointment with the out-of-hours service that same day. If they say to see your own GP then tell them you've tried that and there aren't any appointments! Hope you get it sorted or it goes away quickly. Sorry for the rant.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

well said Pixtotts, Mrs Mega Resistant Staphylococcal Infection reporting in! Toxic, or what!!??
Yes, insurance available for £250 now l just need the go-ahead from Doctor, appointment at 10 15 today, then it will be all systems go, or a box of tissues.
going out for a meal with DS2 and 2 of his friends for a birthday meal on Friday, so l better get a card for him, as for a present? l don't know, maybe pay half his car insurance, as he is so difficult to buy for- he reckons he has everything he needs/wants. Now up and at 'em Mrs I zooms off.

Personality bypass did make me laugh. You are right though, some of them can be a right nuisance. I remember years ago my daughter (then only 3) was really ill, I couldn't get through on the phone so I took her to the GP surgery and tried to get an appointment for her. The receptionist turned us away!! But as we were walking out one of the doctors came chasing after us & said she would see us. I was very grateful to the GP of course and you could see she was not happy with the receptionist at all for turning away a 3 year old poorly child. It turned out my daughter had tonsillitis and 2 ear infections and the doctor told us that if her temperature had been any higher she probably would have recommended taking her straight to hospital! But as it happened she sent us away with prescriptions for calpol and banana medicine :j. It still annoys me to this day though that the receptionist just made her own decision on who she thought deserved to see the doctor, even though it was clear that my daughter was very unwell. Thank god the GP was behind the filing cabinet at the time listening to the whole thing and came after us.

I hope you manage to get an appointment sooner Freespirit. Keep trying, but I would still do as Peppa suggested and report it to the regional team so they can investigate the lack of appointments.

Freespirit - I still haven't gone through the box properly! I picked it up yesterday but we went to the cinema and then by the time I got home and got everything done, I forgot all about it. I will go through it later today though, I cant wait :)

I can't believe how rubbish the weather is today. It's typical that it's the first week of the school summer holidays and it has rained or been cold and dull for the first 3 days. I hope it brightens up a bit because we have a trip to Alton Towers next week and I know my daughters child minder also has lots of things planned for the next few weeks. It would be a shame if she had to change things because of the rain.

I have been obsessing over Pinterest lately. My Christmas pin board is overflowing with ideas now, most of which I will probably never get round to doing. But even if I get 3 of them done I think I'll be happy. I just want to have a few fun craft things that I can make with my girls, so they are occupied and they can also give some of the stuff they make away as gifts. I think the personal touch will be appreciated.

It's not long until we go away for a week and we can't wait. It will be a nice break just before school starts again. I just need to start getting organised as I know there are things we need so I want to buy it as soon as possible and put things straight in to the suitcase rather than rushing a few days before the holiday and then realising we're missing things. So far I know I need suncream, shorts for both girls, flip flops for youngest, underwear for both and I have to choose a book to take with me. I don't need to buy a book as I have plenty that I haven't read.

    Hi everyone!

Sorry I've not been on in what seems like ages, I've been so busy with work and health and stuff, seems like this year has run away from me!

The pen rolls for the kids have arrived today so will fill those up and wait for the books to arrive so they can be wrapped and packed up. Still looking for a couple of bits, but I've got the majority budgeted for.

The house we were looking to view has had another 10k dropped off it, so we are patiently waiting for the EA to call us back with a viewing time - they aren't very good so not holding out much hope - but there's a few others I have my eye on as well.

I'm also patiently awaiting the arrival of niece number 3 (due any day now) so will have to get things sorted for new baby.

Hugs to all who need them and I hope everyone is well.

Evening everyone, you will laugh but i had an hour sitting in my DD1s car while she walked the dog round our local roman ruins today, i just read and relaxed, was desperate for fresh air as had cabin fever from this ibs episode, and after i felt so chilled, i think it was just getting out the house and not thinking about anything! :)

PEPPAPIG Freespirit that's such a shame, especially as you were very brave to try to make the appointment. I am very cross on your behalf  and I'd like to punch your receptionist! You know i wont do anything as i am such a wuss, but thankyou very much for that info i will keep it in mind. My kids do that with 111 either out of hours or being recommended to see a dr within 12 hrs, then ring the surgery and say that, they have to offer an appt then because they will have been contacted as well by 111. See the younguns know how to get their way and are more savvy and upfront about complaining than i am.

MRSINVISIBLE ooh well done on finding an insurer to accept you (though what a price???) still keeping my fingers crossed for you, i hope DS2 has a fab birthday on friday

MONEYMISSION omg that is awful, your poor DD she must have been in so much pain, what gave the stupid woman the right to decide???? thank god that dr heard it all, and i wonder how many people have had that happen to them when it really is something serious  Have you opened your box yet? :) Did you know we have a group christmas board on Pinterest, it is called Elfilicious, join us if you would like to

DOMRAVIOLI it is frightening isnt it how fast this year has gone by?? Brilliant news on the house price coming down, hope the EA gets of their butts and calls you back

Hi all, oh I've missed my beloved Christmas thread! I just haven't found the chance to post in the last few weeks, Wiggle and I have been enjoying DH being off work and i'm also trying to get through a large chunk of my to-do list before he goes back to work! As well as keeping up with the housework etc, etc....

As we're approaching August i'd like to get stuck into my Christmas list, however we've got Wiggle's 1st birthday in a couple of weeks (literally can't believe it!!) so i'm focusing on that first. We're going to take him to the zoo on his actual birthday and then at the weekend we're having a little party for him with close family. I don't know where the time has gone! He hadn't done much moving about but he is now developing so quicky, always rolling onto is front, pulling himself up to a standing position and wants to walk around everywhere with us holding his hands. He doesn't crawl yet, so our backs are feeling the strain as he always wants to move around!

I haven't bought any new Christmas presents, but I did finish off a couple of small cross stitch projects I was doing which has now left me with the time to get on with the Gloucestershire map chart that I am making for my parents for Christmas. I was worried I wouldn't get it finished by Christmas as I can't do very much at a time but I've actually done more than I thought so hopefully it will be ok. And if I find I have enough time i'm going to stitch FiL a bookmark.

I am enjoying the summer and it's been lovely getting out and about with Wiggle, but I was putting some clothes away in my wardrobe the other day and spotted my big fluffly jumper and had a small hankering for a cold winters evening so I could snuggle up on the sofa with a hot chocolate under a big warm blanket! :p

Anyway I cold waffle on for ages as I haven't been on here for a while, but will give your eyes a rest! Lots of hugs to everyone, happy belated birthdays and a big welcome to the newbies. xxx

    Morning all
Sorry freespirti I was sure I replie to you yesterday but I've just looked and no post from me appeared. I didn't get anything in the Christmas shop, nothing really caught my eye. But it did have the 50% off sale on again so I think that's just ongoing.
Sorry to read so many in here are going through the mill, I do hope things start to improve for you all soon.
Hugs and good wishes to everyone.
I need to finish tidying today and have got to get organised and make a start on my Christmas cross stitch. Where is this year going!!!!

Yes, yes, yes, guess who is going to China next week? Me, me, me!!!!!
Lovely Doctor said there was no reason why not so long as l was sensible.(I know sensible-ness isn't my strongest suit, but l will try)
    Now l must pack,
My DS2 is 40 today, and my DGNeice is 2 next week, so must get cards written and her present wrapped.
Princess kitty, it doesn't seem a year since wiggle was born time flies! hope you have lovely days at the zoo and with his party.
Hi, Dom Ravioli, hope the EA steps up to the mark, 10k is quite a big chunk to drop!
DGS stayed last night and l can hear noise (like a teenage heavy metal elephant gun) from his direction, so l best go and investigate. xxx
