  • Well, not really Christmassy, but something to look forward to! Just booked a flight to Madrid in March for a girly weekend, bargain £55 each from Gatwick. Just got to sort hotel, but had a look over weekend and looks as if we can get 4* for 4 nights for about £230 for a twin room, which should be good.

Also ordered my Madrid guide book. On the subject of guide books, if anyone is going someplace they have not been before, can I suggest you order guide books from abebooks.co.uk, (be careful to use the UK site) I buy them 2nd hand, try & get the most recent published as there are not really going to be that many changes & have bought a D&K one for £2.04. post free as against the roughly £15 to buy new. So at that price, it is still great for ideas, even if travel is cancelled

GETTINGTHEREQUICKLY oh that sounds lovely, i will have to tell DD1 about that site, she buys so many travel guides

PIXTOTTS oh no bad luck about the mirror, how blooming annoying

    Scorning all
    Happy birthday Hanley
Massive hugs feisty so sorry to hear what you are going through at the mo, seems so unfair that the only safe option was that you had to pay rather than being offered something by the nhs that was more positive

gettingtherequickly, oh, ho, l hadn't seen that, you did make me chuckle!! Free, that is appalling! little known fact.. it is in your GPs contract that you can be seen by a doctor on the day of your choice! not necessarily your named doctor. Our GPs have got together with funding for one year, and if you want seen on that day you ring surgery and get appointment at the local hospital where they run a 12 hour surgery. Joined up thinking for once that works as all records are on computer and are accessible to the Dr you see. Each practice is responsible for organising a Dr and a nurse on their rota'd days IYSWIM.
I can get travel insurance when l have had this condition for a year and it is stable, but there are difficulties because it is 'brand new' and an unknown quantity.
Not Christmassy, but l got DGS 2 pairs of jeans and a pair of chinos in the marks and spensive sale, for £6 each, and a pack of 2 white school shirts for99p.
'Carried in carry out' tonight with DD treat time for us both .
    coffee time now, xx
  • Not good hearing some of you are poorly, I hope you are feeling better soon.

MrsI - I will check out the m&s sale for school uniform, thank you.

Christmas related, I've been checking out Pinterest & have a few ideas now for gifts & also for craft activities I can do with the kids, which can then double up as Christmas gifts for the grandparents. I also have to go to the post office today because my dotcomgiftshop order is there to be collected. I have forgotten what I've ordered so it will be nice to go through & remember what my plans were for everybody. I have made a list of all the presents I have so far, to make sure I don't buy too much for anybody & also to make sure I don't double up on something! So I will need to add the dotcomgiftshop stuff to the list & then put it all away.

    Hello all,
Only 5 months to Christmas and I'm dying to start preparing. I bought cards and wrapping paper etc in the sales but have resisted shopping since then as we needed to be as clutter free as possible. We put our house on the market in the Autumn and had no problem selling it.... 3 times! We have had 6 different chains so far. Buyers at the bottom of the chain pulled out at the very last minute most recently. Our current buyers have just had the surveyors in and we're awaiting the report back. This was more thorough than previous valuations. Anyway, thats the reason I haven't been around. Hope you're all well xx
    Happy 6 week hols :)

    Evening everyone,

MRSMONEYPENNY did you buy anything in the christmas shop?

GETTINGTHEREQUICKLY hahaha i am giggling to myself, it has taken about 4 rereads and a lot of thinking to understand what you posted about MRSI honestly i am such a woolly head

MRSINVISIBLE oh what a fab idea so people can get seen quicker, i wouldnt mind but i live in a village fgs, and the **** receptionist is just so unhelpful, she never even said would you like to make one after Aug 9th, it was just a case of you are not seeing the doctor full stop! of course, i was all flustered and just said oh i will ring back, obviously the nice receptionist wasnt around typical!! DD1s doctor told her to ring this week to see her about whether she needed another sick certificate and she cant even get in :mad: I see on social media today someone is making a complaint about this drs what about i dont know but im sure it is getting worse, it was never like this when we moved here 16 years ago. Im so sorry you are having trouble finding an insurance company who will insure you, still keeping my fingers crossed for you. Bargain on DGS clothes :) and glad you and DD treated yourselves

MONEYMISSION ooh isnt it exciting when you cant remember all what you ordered, when the parcel arrives :)

FLUFFYSOX oh no poor you, fingers crossed this one will sail through, a few of our lovelies have had nightmares buying and selling this year. Good Luck :)
