  • IrishRose - When do you go to Florida? We are going again next year. It will be our 7th time because we absolutely love it there!! Have you been before? If you want any tips or ideas on things to do just give me a shout. I am 33 but am like a big kid when it comes to Florida and in particular Disney, so I will try and answer any questions you have.

We go in August next year so our flights are not booked either, but it sounds like you are going around the same time as us because our flights will also be available shortly.

FeistyFidget - I know what you mean. We did a similar thing when we sold our house, our purchase was unable to complete on the same day as our sale so we had to move in with the in laws for 2 weeks. I very much appreciated them putting themselves out for us, but it is hard work having to live around other peoples routines. Queuing for the shower in the morning was a pain in the backside.

Freespirit - I will have to keep an eye out in Matalan. I don't shop in there often but when I do go there I always come out with something lovely. My sister is a big fan of Home Bargains but that's another shop that I don't get chance to visit often. A friend of mine recently bought a huge wine glass in Home Bargains, but when I say huge I mean it. It's actually a decorative vase but in the shape of a wine glass, which she now has displayed on her windowsill & is slowly filling it up with the corks from her wine bottles. It looks lovely, so I want to see if I can get one before they sell out, as I know things like that don't usually come back in to stock regularly.

Evening everyone, i hoovered and did some baking this morning while it was cooler, then watched tennis this afternoon, shame about Andy but Federer is flipping amazing!

FEISTY oh no you poor thing, i hope the results come back positive that your liver is recovering on wednesday, make the most of being looked after then while you can!

MONEYMISSION oh im another HB fan, i love love love it, the first time i went in there i wasnt impressed it felt a bit like superdrug, but when i actually went again and really mooched and looked at prices i was really impressed, i now visit once a month and wouldnt buy some bits from anywhere else but there, but yes the only problem is you have to regularly go in or be there at the right time sometimes with some bits otherwise they are just gone, i know the wine glass vase you are on about it is lovely

Have a great weekend everyone :)

I haven't been to Matalan in ages, even though we have one locally. Do they actually have Christmas stuff in the stores this month? If so, I'll take the time to pop in next week while I have the chance!

I must go familiarise myself with Twitter.
    Saving, decluttering and doing alright.

Florida plans have come to a standstill. We're going down the DIY route as it was working out cheaper, and we can stay a few extra days then:) But flights aren't released until this time next month (yes we have a countdown:D) and then we can book flights there and back with another airline, and also the accommodation.
Our problem was the accommodation we were looking at was struck by lightening at the weekend and went on fire:eek: so we had to go back to the drawing board there:rotfl:

could you not still book it? I know they have damage to one building but the rest hasn't been affected and no doubt it'll all be back up and running by next yr. there are so many hotels its hard to find the right one. You'll have a few periods where it feels like you've come to a standstill usually while waiting for the next thing you can actually do off your list but once flights are booked it'll seem much more real.

fiesty sorry things are still tough healthwise hopefully it'll be good news soon. Its hard living with family but make the most of this down time and rest when you can before move no2 happens

moneymisson florida is addictive isn't it just wish is wasn't so expensive during the school holidays. Have you been in aug before?

    Belated birthday wishes nanamia

HB is very hit or miss they get some great deals but alot of the time its get it while you see it. My local didn't really have anything in this wk though did see a twin pk superman mugs with teabags £2.99 and really cute pug shopper bag 79p just seemed to be tons of new minion/frozen stuff.

New argos book is out next wk so worth keeping an eye open for new stuff being added to the clearance
this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk

Morning, where has this week gone? l know , down at DDs where we are making a 10litre drum of magnolia paint (also known as 'whisper cream'-- then folks say oh what a lovely colour, instead of oh magnolia, how boring) go as far as we can, amazing tho, how it opens up the rooms and makes them look so much bigger and fresher! l was going to do my house this year but apparently her needs are greater than mine, or so she says. Still it is cheering her up and giving her something to think about.
Waiting for Skype, then l can get the vacuum cleaner out and batter my way through the debris here.
Feisty, enjoy being spoilt, and l hope very much that your blood tests return positive results for you. Soon be in your own space again, look on this as a 'family s/c holiday' if you can.
Free, what a close call that was, l hope it is all sorted out now and all is well again.
I have resisted the call to half price yankee candles and Matalan Christmas preview, and the nearest primark is more than 50 miles away, so how come my spends for this month are still so bad? oops, perhaps it is online M&S to blame?, or Argoose, or Amaizon or (you get the drift!)
Off for coffee refill, have a lovely week everyone! xx

Not really done much Christmassy but I've picked a few bits up at the boots and some books off amazon

I've never really got in to the swing of HB. I was so excited when ours first opened as you lovely lot are always raving about the Christmas bargains you've managed to nab, but I've never found anything to really tempt me. Admittedly I've only been two or three times but to me it seems they stock a lot of things that are similar to pound land, but more expensive? Or maybe I'm just cheap lol.

MrsI our number one plan before moving our stuff in is to paint the new house in magnolia! We've always lived in new builds and so moving in to an ex family house with twin under 5s where the walls are either filthy, scribbled or definitely not to our taste is giving me palpitations lol. We love colour and will have a feature wall in each of the rooms, but painting the walls and getting the carpets cleaned professionally (£95 for an entire two bed house seems a bargain, especially as it works out cheaper than hiring a rug doctor with the solution and weve witnessed first hand the company's work) seems like a great way to make it feel fresh and like ours.

The dot com sale is on, there are some lovely Christmas bits in there! I was quite tempted, but didn't have enough to justify the £4 postage so ended up abandoning my basket. If anyone was planning on giving homemade food as gifts they have a set of two gingerbread gift boxes (one small, one large) reduced to 50p. Also packs of stickers and novelty rubbers that would make good stocking fillers for little ones down to only 10p!

I was just looking on that site myself and had the same problem. Shame you don't live nearer, then we could've shared postage cost/got it up to free delivery limit.

Oooh, just spotted the hedgehog in our garden again. So nice to see them around. Blossom (cat) is fascinated by him. :)

AAAaaawww l love hedgehogs. l have one irregular visitor, and red squirrels come too, the hedgehog appears near my hosta, probably to eat the slugs that come to eat the hosta! Oh, and when l was clearing some plant debris we also have a little natterjack toad. probably from spawn in a neighbours pond.
Back to DDs again today, should get DGS room finished apart from some of the gloss, as only managed to second undercoat about half of it. Then the real biggie.... DDs bedroom. Needs stripped to the plaster then papered and painted. Ah well, keeps me out of mischief and takes me 2 steps nearer the poorhouse.
