I am going to take a look at the Yankee candles now : )

Evening everyone, is anyone watching the tennis? Did you see the match with Nick Kyrgios? OMG what a silly little boy with his temper tantrum, i couldnt believe it! Poor old Thumper no cbeebies today just nanas tennis haha! Well i have seen a couple of things on the yankee candle sale pages, but will have to wait until the end of the month, so hopefully they will still be there#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0

I didn't watch the Wimbledon so didn't see this temper tantrum. I actually used to enjoy playing tennis but don't like watching it at all.
I had a look at the Yankee candles. Some on there I might get to put away for Christmas presents & also a birthday present for somebody in September.0 -
I missed the temper tantrum on Wimbledon. Such a shame. There's been nobody nearly as entertaining as John McEnroe in years. :rotfl:
I've been thinking over Christmas cards. I do like them, but postage is getting so expensive. Are they falling by the wayside for people now? It's silly I suppose, but I like opening them and thinking how nice it is that someone took the time to send one. A Christmas "email" just isn't the same.
I see a lot of my family losing touch here and there, and wonder if perhaps sending Christmas cards might be a way to keep loosely in touch with extended members of the family. Maybe it's just old fashioned? Not that old fashioned is necessarily a bad thing.Saving, decluttering and doing alright.:xmastree: :xmastree:0 -
I must admit that I don't send many Christmas cards, but then I didn't used to either. Most of the cards that I write are for people who I will be seeing and therefore the small amount that I do put in the post I make sure go in enough time to be second class and only letter size or smaller.
In my family we've never had any problems when we do come together even if we haven't seen each other since the last 'big family event' but I appreciate this isn't the same for all. I certainly don't mind if people don't send me a card but I know it means different things to different people.0 -
Evening everyone, hope everyone is ok,
PINKNFLUFFY i have been thinking of you, i hope everything is heading in the right direction with DD, sending you lots of hugs x
MONEYMISSION i dont have any interest for the rest of the year its just Wimbledon i like to watch, i must admit i have watched a lot more this year than previous for some reason
PENNYDROPPED haha i am old enough to remember him and his outbursts 'you cannot be serious' still makes me laugh, funny enough i was telling DD1 about Nick Kyrgios tonight and then he blooming pops up in an advert for Beats headphones, so thats why he thinks hes all gangster :rotfl::rotfl:I too think it is a shame christmas cards have gone out of fashion as such, like LAZYSHEEP i never had a lot to send before, then even less when i split up with my exH, now its almost non existent so i am down to about 4 to post, i just give out ones where i know i will see them, but even then when family dont make the effort to meet up i am left with the blooming cards and its too late to post them! I really concentrate on close families cards now

I guess I see my mum and some of the older relatives who rarely miss a birthday, anniversary, or holiday, sending cards to family members, and I think "those are the family members that kind of hold the family together and stay in touch." It's all the older generation. I can't decide if it's because they have always sent cards (having grown up prior to the internet and such) so it's just what they are used to, or if it's because they place a higher value on family than perhaps the younger generation does. Probably a mix of both. It's just a bit sad. We used to have massive family get togethers once a year when I was a child and now that the elder generation are passing away, it never ever happens anymore. I tend to be reminded of this when I'm organising the few Christmas cards I still write.Saving, decluttering and doing alright.:xmastree: :xmastree:0

Hello all. Not popped in here for a while, although I never stop with the Christmas plans.
I was very chuffed to find a street the other day called Christmas Lane in Bristol, where I work from 2 days a week (Bristol that is, not Christmas Lane).
I've decided not to buy as much stuff this year as I usually do. I have so many bits and bobs that I have bought over the years with the intention of gifting them to people at Christmas, but when the time comes I have either forgotten about them, or have hidden them in such a safe place I can't find them!
I've already bought my twin nephews a Fireman Sam bicycle each - reduced to £15 a piece from £50!!
My DS has already said that he would like cold hard cash as he and his best mate want to go shopping for brand name trainers and clothes in the boxing day sales. Fair enough - at least I have been forewarned. I will still get him some little bits though as I think Christmas (and his birthday which is on 13 December) would be very un-festive if he didn't have any gift wrapped bits. Problem is that even the small bits for teenagers cost so much these days ...
On the Christmas card front, I am one who likes getting proper cards. I don't mind if they are hand delivered. But I do like receiving them as they are part of my Christmas decorations. I have one wall of my sitting room reserved for hanging them (or more like sticking them up with blu tack). It would look pretty sad if I didn't have any to hangSmiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...
..one size fits all... and nobody minds if you give it back.☆.。.:*・° Housework is so much easier without the clutter ☆.。.:*・°SPC No. 5180 -
