Sorry to hear the tenants have left your house in a state :( Hope you can get it back to normal again without too much cost. I know we will be facing the same thing when our tenants leave, not nice.

Very best of luck with the interview!

Well I had my interview on Wednesday, I felt I covered the examples I wanted to but I didn't feel I expanded my answers enough. But I got a call this morning to tell me they are offering me the job :j:j:j:j

I'm so pleased it will make such a big difference to our finances and to my work life balance and the time I get to spend with my little man.

It looks like it will be an April start as I need to give a months notice in my current role so the plan is to use any extra money in April towards the repairs at the rented house (or replenishing my savings!). Then from May salary increase the mortgage payment by £200 to clear the arrears a little quicker, plus an extra £400 each month towards paying off the car loan - the aim is to have that gone for October, then my plan is to take the company car option and sell my car using it to pay some towards the overdrafts I have jointly with my ex (£13k) - depending on how quickly the car sells I may be able to save the difference.

Then to tackle the remaining debts!

Just read through your thread. Well done on tackling the debts. Have you thought about doing an SOA (statement of affairs)? Here is the link

    http://www.stoozing.com/calculator/soa.php

It might help you think about those little niggly things that get missed, and give you a better insight into your budget.
    good luck

Thanks for your reply, I did a very similar SOA for Step Change and they seemed to go through it with a fine tooth comb so hopefully have everything covered

Signed a new Avon Rep into my team today :j:j

Then came home and did a bit of tidying, had a look on eBay and have bid on a few clothes for the little man, was surprised how small the bundles were - I listed a massive bundle (50 items) and it didn't sell so maybe I need to re-list in smaller bundles - any tips?

Have listed some Avon stock, really want a tidy house and all the "stuff" is getting in the way:)

Have a good weekend all :T

Little one has had a cold and doesn't want to eat at the minute' unless it's biscuits or wotsits - not sure if the not eating is related to him feeling under the weather or whether he is going through a phase.

As he's sleeping peacefull I've been looking at Junior ISA's as I should be able to save a little more for him once I've started my new job - Nationwide appears a good option as I bank with them. I'm tempted to keep the account a secret and hand it over to him on his 18th birthday as he will still have his everyday account where we put money that friends or family have given to him that we can use to teach him to save his pennies.

I found out yesterday that we are having a restructure at work and I'm at risk of redundancy, although I'm quite tempted to take voluntary redundancy. The new job I'm due to start isn't affected so that would still happen for 12 months but I may not have a role to return to.

Taking redundancy would pay off a huge chunk of my debt, but that's dependant on me securing a new job quickly - although it could be lower paid if necessary as I would have the debts to service each month.

My little boy has made me a lovely mothers day card and a key ring with his hand print at the childminders today, how thoughtful of her :)

Day off tomorrow, we are off to a baby group at the library then I have a doctors appointment.
