I think that you learn from your parents regardless of whether it's intentional or not. Growing up and seeing you be sensible with money will just leave him being sensible as well... probably.

    Hope you're doing good.

I do hope he is sensible with money and uses what we save for him as a deposit for a house when he's older. Can't imagine him not being with us though, it's so far away.

The insurance company are being a nightmare, asked me when would be most convenient to come out and I said tonight 7pm, they email me yesterday to say their last appointment is 4pm!! Too much short notice to change my p,and, I'm really not happy. And I mat loose the tenants who want to move in because I can't afford to carpet it without the insurance refund. Then to ,ale matters worse, the heating fault (with one heating engineer who told me would cost £150 but haven't been able to get hold of him since!) I've now been told I need a whole new boiler

Start my new job on Monday and I coukd really do without all of this hassle :(

Been to my sisters today for some lunch, and have left my little one with her overnight. Miss him loads! I've cleaned up at home and the other half has put some clutter up the loft. Put a few things on eBay to hopefully declutter a bit more, and some Avon bits onto a facebook selling site.

Think I'm off to bed, don't really feel up to doing anything, the rented house just gets me so down :(

    Finally my day off :j:j:j

Off to the library this morning with the little one, then to pop and get a few food bits

I'm absolutely exhausted this week, trying to get my head round the new job as well as a 3 hour daily commute. Oh and the promotion didn't reach payroll in time for payday next week :( extra money next month though which I plan to put straight to paying off my car finance

Have a good weekend everyone

Took the little man swimming yesterday, he's a little water baby, just wish it wasn't so expensive - they should encourage families to swim.

Feeling a bit more positive today, four loads of washing done and a bit of ironing so clothes are ready for work tomorrow. And it's pay day tomorrow :j shame I've got to wait another month for the pay rise to be processed but it'll be nice to get the extra next month.

Car tax is due by the end of the month, will pay OH's in full but tempted to pay mine on monthly DD as I plan on selling and taking the company car option once I've paid off the finance :)

Off to family for lunch today whilst OH is at work, have a good Sunday everyone

Not been on all week but have caught up with some diaries today.

Final handover for the new job completed this week before the lady I'm covering goes on maternity leave. Lots to take in but really looking forward to it. Only downside is I've been full of a cold and felt awful, not helped by getting up at 5.30am and getting home at 7pm.

Today was a much needed day off, the rest has done me good. Hoping I can recover fully over the weekend without passing the bug onto my little man.

I've still not had my refund from the landlord insurance company so I have complained to the ombudsman, hopefully that might progress things.

Have a good weekend everyone

Does anyone have any experience with Tax Credits?

When I went back to work following my maternity leave I phoned them to let them know my new income, I then recieved a letter saying that we qualified for "0" - which I expected. But they also said they estimate we owe them £3k :mad: The letter said they would take the money we owe from future payments - but we won't be getting any future payments as we no longer qualify (which makes a mockery out of it being working tax credit that we qualified when I was off work but not now I'm working!)

I certainly could not have survived on maternity leave without the tax credits and only claimed because we had to, OH's wages just about kept a roof over our heads and the tax credits meant we could eat and heat the house etc.

Does anyone know if they will claim the money if they can't take it from future tax credits or if I can appeal?

I think the reason for the overpayment was my work refusing to let me carry my accrued holiday after maternity leave and paying me for it instead. I also have a staff mortgage so the benefit in kind is counted as income but it's not income I physically recieve to spend on surviving.

Still feeling awful today, not even changed out of my PJ's yet  really hope my little man doesn't catch it from me.

Spent the day sleeping and reading, feeling like such a waste of a weekend but I don't have the energy to do anything else.

Had my letter today confirming my new salary (even though I've already started the Jon!) feels good to see it in writing though :j really hope I can keep a similar role after the maternity cover finishes as it's an extra £10k as well as a car allowance and the potential for a bigger bonus.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well! I hope you feel better soon.

But the job sounds amazing and I am totally jealous!

It sucks about the tax credits, have you thought about going to CAB about your rights and what could happen?

Thank you, I'm feeling a little better but still not right. Have taken the little man to the childminder so I'm going to have an afternoon nap :D

I hadn't thought of CAB, I thought only people who qualified for legal aid could use CAB?

Looking forward to a nice quiet Bank Holiday weekend
