Please can I join you too? Looked in the mirror the other day and didn't recognise the person staring back at me!
Am working fulltime 9-5 job with 90min commute either end. Just seem to exist at mo, weekends are catching up on housework and prepping for following week.
Today I am going to sort out toiletries, have loads of body lotions so will put one by every sink one by bed and sofa and one in handbag. No excuse for not moisturising! will do this with lipbalm/vasoline too for kissable lips! Also will get perfume out of drawer and by front door to spritz on way out.
Thank you all for the motivation x0 -
Right - I'm on a mission. DH tinkering with his trike so he's out of the way. I'm going to give myself a facial, treat my hair & put a shower cap on it to keep the heat in & have a bath. Exfoliate all 'spiders' & cream whole body & do feeties & hands. Give toothies a good floss too. Onward & upward & start as I mean to go on!
When i was working full time I always used to have 2 hours on a Sunday morning for a bath and all those 'important little places' but now I've retired its all gone to pot in more ways than one! DiL bought me a new Braun Epilater as my old one hade gone kaput so I'll try that out & I have a nice new nail varnish too. Going to a party tonight so I should feel fab!
LL - just a thought for your garden I was given a tip last year that really paid off. If you buy the 'growing' lettuce (the ones that have different types in L*dl) & replant them they will grow & you can cut & come again for quite some time. I think I bought 3 packs over the whole summer & they look pretty with the ruffled leaves.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Good morning ladies
Silva saga - I too am on a mission this morning - "Operation Beautify"
I have decided not to go so Sainsbobs this morning - judging by the looks of the queues yesterday I think everywhere will be rammed. we tried to fo the the tip but there was a long tail back so we didn't bother. I can manage with a mini shop so will wander down to the corner shop, which is a mini Sainsbobs in any case, and just get a few essentials. Would a bottle of gin qualify ........
So today it's a bit more tidying and just generally pottering about.
Now ladies what are your plans for next year.
I have two big ones.
1. Either buy or start the build on a house.- I guess plans don't get much bigger than that.
2. Address some health issues, starting with getting the Fibro under control, losing weight, getting fitter, and hopefully do something about my varicose veins.
I also have a few minor plans, including a couple of trips, the odd weekend break and perhaps even a proper holiday somewhere exotic. It all depends on me getting fit and healthy first.
I also want to address some of my sloth like tendencies, so more doing and less sitting on the sidelines, less TV and media and more engagement with real life, getting out and about, seeing friends etc and taking up some new and interesting hobbies.
Sounds a lot but I shall do it all in easy stages.
Silvasa Sava - thanks for the lettuce tip. Great idea - didn't know you could plant them on. I do a lot of mixed gardening anyway as an attempt to keep it organic. It does help with pest control and reduces the need for chemicals.
Well I'd better get busy.
Hope you are all have a lovely time however you decide to celebrate.
Happy NewYear to one and all.
Let's make 2015 a cracker !!!0 -

Ooh I do envy you having your DD on hand to practice the treatments on! My niece is a trained hairdresser and does professional blow dry for my SIL, I wish I lived closer to join the queue! I think you're right about exuding confidence. On the face of things, all this fabbing might seem like vanity but it does such wonders for self esteem. Every little change helps, however small.
When sparkles used to post on here she had a mission (partly mse:money: driven) that she wouldn't buy/keep any new clothes unless she really loved them and they fit perfectly. I think we've all got 'mistakes' in our wardrobes or things that are too old/big/small/out of date. That's something I plan to sort out.
1.5lbs for a Christmas gain isn't bad at all catcherupper. Jury's still out on the new plan but the old one still works except that many fruits have now been questioned. I'm not surprised as I've always though veg is much healthier. Sugar is sugar after all.
I'm off to blow dry my hair. I've had a shower, defuzzed, moisturised and put a bit of highlighter spray on my roots. We're going to a wedding in February so I'm trying to stretch out new highlights for a month or so.
I'm loving all the resolutions rolling in. Back soon.:)0 -
Hello, Ladies
Do you mind if I join you? I am in serious need of looking after myself better.
I first read the forerunners of this thread a couple of years ago, loved it, decided to join in but then life crashed around me, and the past few months have seen me crawling exhausted from the battle field, craving rest and recuperation.
Dramatic or what? :rotfl:
Seriously though, it's been tough, and it's still going to be tough, so I've spent the last few days taking stock of various strategies for moving me forward, and this thread was pointed out to me...so here I am...
I feel like a beached whale, having comfort eaten/drunk myself to an extra 10lbs in the last 3 months; I have worn the same dull cover me up clothes over and over to work for probably 2 years; I turn down invites rather than go out to enjoy myself because I feel so fat that nothing nice to wear in my wardrobe fits me, and I am so emotionally flat, and well, it's all just too much effort; I feel I am invisible. So invisible that a recent trip to the garden centre in my PJs, under a coat and boots, raised no eyebrows at all.
Oh ...and I turn 50 towards the back end of 2015...and according to my GP, I've recently (and very unexpectedly) reversed myself out of the menopause, and am fit and healthy (though feel and think I look like an old woman), so I need to be careful of pregnancy...well, chance would be a fine thing...I asked him if he was free...:p
So, having read all your motivating posts, I've had a couple of days sales shopping - got some brighter coloured cardis/tops (that don't fit me and won't until I lose 5-7lbs), I already have smart trousers from previous sales that don't fit me, but will if I lose 10lbs, and a couple of coats - one smart black one for work situations, and one gloriously pink duffle coat.
And today, I have plucked my eyebrows, my nose hair (yes, really!:D) and am attempting to do something with my nails (all I can say at the moment is that they are shorter now..)
After settling the chooks to bed later, I intend to de-hairise my legs and armpits (that may take some time!) and have a soaky bath with face pack/hair treatment, and copious amounts of body and foot lotions, then settle in clean PJs with a delicious chicken salad (no, not one of my own girls!), and a wee tipple .
I suspect I'll be fairly early to bed, as I need sleep more than I need to watch Jules
So, do I qualify for your thread? Please, please... I've tried to present my application in the [STRIKE]best[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]worst[/STRIKE] best possible light.
Tomorrow, I will spritz on the perfume while I bring paperwork up to date.. I hope you'll let me into your merry band of motivational members.
Happy New Year All. 2015 has our names on it for a better one, I'm sure.

I'm not a faddy person at all but for me it has been transformational as long as I stick to the rules. Stress and bad food choices still trigger a flare but shorter and less painful. Along the way I lost a couple of stone which was an unexpected bonus and took me back down to a 10 after years of 14/16. Meat, nuts, eggs, fruit and veg can get a bit dull but so can limping. It took a couple of months to have a real impact so give it time.
I have had my eyebrows waxed previously but it gave me some impressive white lines due to my moderate tan. I need it done again (and the third eyebrow that sleeps on my upper lip) but I worry about the resulting patchiness.

Afternoon Ladies
Not such a "frumpy" day today, had an appointment this morning so smartened myself up and donned a skirt, applied some make up and a spritz of perfume for the first time in ages. Now that I'm home, I'm resisting the urge to go and change into my slouchy clothes.
I dont need to shape my eyebrows so much these days (post menopause) it's more a case of just plucking out the greys that sneak through. Which reminds me I need to get the tweezers out and deal with this one persistent bu**er that keeps coming though in my blond moustache
Lately I have been making do with moisturisers that were on special offer in the supermarket and look longingly at the big name stuff that I used to use. So on my way home I dropped in to b00ts and treated myself, but my goodness the price has really jumped up since I last bought it . Justifying this purchase to myself I though I've spent so much on my house over the past couple of years it's time for me and with a well stocked freezer and aiming on doing the Fiscal Fast challenge for as long as possible the money saved will go toward my treat.
Right off to paint my finger and toenails and start the year as I mean to go on.
Wishing you all a Happy New Year when it arrivesJan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

Done all my jobs for today, apart from hoovering stairs, will do that while bath is running, DD has redone my nails, a nice glittery red, and she has chosen a nice navy dress for me to wear tonight. I am doing some voluntary work behind bar at village hall, but hubby will be there, so want to look nice for him. So going to have a nice soak in the bath, make my legs smooth, and try to do make up and hair, wish me luck lolLoving life to the full, just need purse full too

Morning - welcome all new people.
LL - love your 2015 plan. I will add mine if i may?
OH and i are going to go through the house room by room and declutter / spruce up as required. it will take all year, I reckon:eek: My aim is that if we wouldn't take it with us were we to move, then it goes. We have been in our house for 16 years, having previously moved every 5 years so have accumulated much stuff. The first room is the so called "office" where we still have manuals for household items long since gone, and stuff like notes from courses we have attended 10 years ago and so probably well out of date.
The other is to continue to maintain my diet and fitness regime. I have gone wheat free, sugar free and i practice the 5:2 way of eating. Since April i have lost 1 1/2 stone and don't especially need to lose more so it is a case of maintenance. Haven't put any on over the festivities. Fitness is merely walking - a minimum of 3 x 30 minutes walk a week, though it is often more.
I am about to rejoin my ladies tap class after about 5 fallow years, so that should be fun.
Had bikini, lip and eyebrows waxed and eyebrows tinted yesterday. Will have a facepack once a week from tomorrow.
Maman - love the "sparkles" philosophy and am starting to practice that myself a little.
Oh and I wore the "audrey Hepburn" dress on Christmas Eve - felt FABULOUS :T
Happy New Year one and all :beer:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hello all, could I join in the 2015 thread please? Many thanks to LL for starting the new thread, am really looking forward to joining in and getting all ship shape next year.
Need to lose about 10lbs as all my clothes are feeling tight at the moment, in particular my jeans but need to achieve as soon as possible as I'm aiming to keep clothes buying to a minimum next year.
Am cutting out bread as I think this has been the biggest culprit re my recent weight gain and am going to swap my toast for a yoghurty breakfast instead.
Haven't been doing much fabbing recently but will do some aerobics this afternoon before having a nice relaxing shower and painting nails.
All the best to everyone hope we can all achieve everything we want in 2015.
