Hi everyone,
Thanks for starting the new thread. I am in. I have no big aims for the year, just to keep on trucking and doing what I know is good for me.
All the best for the new year to all of you.0 -
Morning All,
It's a really inspiring start to the day reading about everyone's aims and goals for the New Year.
I've just had a workout of a different sort to my normal Tuesday morning Pilates - which doesn't start again till next week. I've cleaned out my oven and scrubbed my kitchen floor on my hands and knees. I am sure it has used a few calories and it contributes towards the New Start for a New Year feeling too. I'm just in old clothes at the moment but shall go and get changed for work shortly as I'm due in at 11.30. I was hoping to wear one of my new dresses but it's really cold and icy so I may go in smart trousers and top teamed with my trusty black ankle boots instead.
My goals for the New Year are to ditch the sugar habit. I've already successfully given up bread and grains most of the time - though I am occasionally tempted when taking sandwiches to work for DS and have just bought a fresh warm baguette. DH and I usually share a small bar of dark chocolate at 9pm each night but I haven't done that since the first of December so I intend to keep that up. However, I still find myself looking for something sweet after my evening meal each day so need to wean myself from that as it is just a habit. Paleo eating suits me apart from giving up dairy, which I don't want to as I enjoy it and it doesn't seem to have an adverse effect on me.
I've got home made carrot soup and a couple of kiwi fruits (reduced to 25p for 6 yesterday) to take to work for lunch and I'm planning salmon with creamed spinach and mushrooms, petit pois and new potatoes for tea. I do have some frozen raspberries so may have those with Greek yoghurt for a dessert.
We have a really nice shoe shop in the village that sells brands like Hotter and Van Daal and I noticed on the way home last night that they had a sale on so I may set off for work early and go and see if I can find any knee high boots with a lowish heel that would do for work. I only take a size 3 so am often quite lucky with sale items. I could use the rest of my Christmas money towards them as I've got £25 left from my Mum's money plus I got a £20 bonus from work.
Right, the kitchen floor should be dry now so I should get my soup heated through and into my flask and then go and select an outfit for work.

:hello: good to see everyone full of enthusiasm and welcome to all newbies and returners.:)
:Tmany congratulations on your news newthrift. I'm looking forward to sharing all the plans.
I've been reading everyone's ideas with interest. I'll get started myself soon but I'm allowing myself a slow start. DH and I have had horrible, chesty colds over Christmas and we're both feeling quite drained. Today is our first 'normal' day without any visitors, excursions, meals out or anything. I'm itching to make a start on something but very lacking in energy.
I have been to Slimming World this morning, not to weigh but to hear about the 'new' plan they're launching which is really the old plan tweaked a bit. I now I'm a convert but anyone who wants to lose weight is very welcome over on the SW thread. I think I might find Paleo a bit restrictive but I suppose I'm fortunate as I don't have any intolerances.
I'm still managing to keep up with all my past good habits (well perhaps most as legs need defuzzing:o) but there's always room for improvement.
Back soon.0 -
Another one with a lurgy that is warm and comfortable here and seems to have taken up residence:eek:, coupled with Iron figures that are below range and firmly red on the test result, I am feeling completely lifeless. I managed to keep going over Christmas and do nice food and go out and about with OH, but it has all caught up and I am having a few PJ days before I need to cater for family on New Year's Day.
Loving hearing everyone's plans and in management speak "goals and objectives":rotfl: My aim for 2015 is to get the rest of the tests done and then recover over what I hope is a just a blip in my health, get the permanent chronic conditions managed as well as possible and become a lot more mobile, big asks, but need to aim high.:D
I manage the fabbing some days, but on others it takes just too much energy to do , but intend to take one day at a time and see what is achievable, nails though short are painted with pink glitter polish, to give them strength from knocks and to make me smile:D, hair cut and colour booked for mid-January, perfume being worn almost every day, also mascara and eyebrows done most days.
Sorry if this is a bit of a moan, but I wanted to record everything so I can keep track of forward progress:)
Here's wishing everyone a happy new year and better things to come, I am aware that my troubles are minor in comparison to those of many people and I do celebrate having a glass half full.:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Another salmon and spinach dinner planned here today and yes followed by berries and Greek yoghurt too. Great minds think alike:rotfl:
Back to Paleo - I think my version is also Paleo Light because I still eat dairy, mainly because of the vitamin D and calcium, but also because I'm a bit of a cheeseaholic:rotfl: I still have some nice Stilton and a wedge of Camembert to look forward to.
I have found a website called nom nom Paleo, some great ideas and recipes.
I need to do a food shop tomorrow so I am going to stock up on Paleo friendly ingredients. I want to have a go at Paleo baking because I like a bit of cake or the odd biscuit.
Like anything else I think it's a learning curve and you need a bit of imagination. I agree with Maman I don't want it to be too restrictive
Otherwise I know I will give up. I am a girl who likes her grub and my boys are real foodies, we do like to eat nice food. But I reckon simple home cooked is the best way forward, then I can tweak recipes to meet my needs.
I went to the garden centre today but managed to keep my purse firmly shut - quite an achievement for me.
I am aiming to plant some extra fruit bushes this year and I'm looking to do some vertical gardening for salads, herbs etc. this garden is just a small urban space so I don't want to turn it into just a vegetsble plot because I want it to look pretty and not just functional. It is enclosed by brick walls so I shall use those to grow foodstuffs, interspersing the practical foodstuffs with climbing flowers. I've already planted some climbing shrubs and roses and they seem to be ok.
Tonight I need to give my hands a bit of TLC, they are dry and my nails are a disgrace.
Right now I'm being lazy, half watching Homes Under The Hammer with Stray Cat curled up next to me keeping me nice and cosy.

Hello everyone, hope you're all having a fab day!
DH is out tonight so I'm going to have a sort out of my toiletries and see what I've got. Chuck anything that needs it, and use what's left! Then I'll have a bath, read a book and then have an early night with a DVD and paint my nails.
Tomorrow I've got to pop into town, so I might stock up on a few bits and pieces to beautify myself
I've spent the afternoon cooking up the reduced veg I bought yeaterday, so the freezer is stocked with some healthy meals, and there's hm soup in the fridge. We've finished the Xmas sweets / chocolates so healthy eating starts here! I'm also doing Dry January, and going to try to get back to swimming once the kids go back to school so the pool's quieter!
Have a lovely day everyone x0 -

Hi Ladies,
I'm rejoining you all (again....) It's really nice to read all of your positive aims and objectives for the next year.
This year has gone so quickly and am not sure that I really achieved anything. My main aim for 2015 is to finally find a house.
Today I did LL's famous mirror test which is the catalyst for finding you again. I have unkempt (and today unwashed) hair, a dry face, unruly brows, dirty nails and creased clothes! Admittedly today is a bad day - I'm home alone for a few days and I'm working from home so little contact with anyone else but I can do better!!
I've treated myself to some nice skincare creams from Boots so will have a pamper with those later. I received some nice make-up for Christmas too so have no excuse not to try.
I'm not sure why but the first time ever this year I started to bite my nails and they were a mess. I've almost got them back to a nice length so will give them a bit of polish to spruce them up a bit too.
The other thing I have to figure out is my gym membership, I haven't been using it as much as I should so plan to use January as my decision making month - if I go at least 3 times per week then it'll stay but if I don't then I will cancel the membership.
Does everyone have plans for tomorrow? I'll be thinking of you tomorrow LL. I will be in on my own trying to stay awake until the fireworks! TV looks rubbish for tomorrow night though so might try and find a film I like the look of to watch. Wishing you all a great New Years Eve!0 -
Anyone know if there is a manicure set that I can use at home, my hands and nails are awful I had a little look in town but wasn't really sure what I was looking for.

I ordered this: http://www.lookfantastic.com/mavala-complete-nail-care-kit/10837805.html and used a 20% off for first order code from Quidco which made it £5.60ish.
