wow so many new faces.
Looks like 2015 is going to be lively on here.
Well today I'm having a good old tidy up. I seem to be drowning under a sea of stuff......so it's bin bags at the ready, cardboard and packaging for the tip tomorrow so I will get that ready today, and then a couple of bags for the chazza shop.
I've started reorganising my wardrobe but it's a big job. A lot of my stuff is till in boxes piled high in the room we laughingly call the study, aka the store room.
I've realised I need at least one more set of drawers, preferably two. Luckily I have some Christmas present money so I think I'm going to have a little splurge and buy some mirrored ones to match the wardrobes. . Ive spotted some in the Dunhelm sale, so not too bad.
Still feeling rather delicate so sticking to plain and simple food. My back is killing me so having to take lots of little rests between spurts of action. didn't manage any yoga yesterday so will have to just try a few simple Physio exercises. I've taken some pain relief but it doesn't seem to be doing much, so I'm afraid it's gently does it for the time being.
I have a Physio appt booked for 5th Jan.
I actually now have full blown fibromyalgia, (The medical terminology for chronic aching muscles) hardly surprising given the state of my adrenal glands.
I'm just going to have put the work in to get better, Paleo diet, healthy eating, a dedicated exercise programme and regime of vitamins and supplements.
I have found out that our local Nuffield Hospital has a dedicated Fibro Clinic so I think I shall investigate that in the new year. Unfortunately my GP can't help much because I can't tolerate oral pain relief and in any case blood tests have revealed no inflammatory issues.
So there you go - it's up to me - time for some lifestyle changes. At least I now have time to focus on my health needs now.
So ladies my main focus for 2015 is me...... gosh that sounds bad when you see it written down like that .......but I think you all know what I mean.
Rest,, exercise, massage, real food, vitamins and supplements, possibly meditation and just trying to learn how to relax and slow down a bit.
I know that all sounds a bit dull bit I really think it's what I need. So no big ideas for what I want to achieve, things to do or places to go, the focus is on regaining strength and vitality. My energy levels are at an all time low, so time to get serious.
Right, rest break over, time to tackle the kitchen:eek:0 -
Could I please join in this year?
I am getting on for 60 and was brought up with the idea that appearance is not important, but I have taken it to new lows over the last few years and have gone from casual to downright scruffy.
I joined Slimming World and have lost about 11lb, minus what I put on over Christmas, and will be on track to have lost a stone by the end of January. I want to lose another 2-3 stone in 2015 then review my target. At each stone I am going to book a personal shopper appointment and buy a few new clothes (and make more), with a major splash when I get to where I want to be.
I'd like to get into a grooming routine - I have lots of cosmetics but only bring them out for special occasions.
My main concerns are a bulging tummy and really dry hands, with hard skin around the nails. If I can sort these out I will be happy.
Hoping everyone else achieves their aims in 2015.0 -
Hello all - well I'm still not feeling great (ended up at out of hours yesterday) but hoping I'm turning a corner (as soon as I get rid of this cough...)
I've popped out to do some sales shopping - collected a long dress for work black tie events (£35 from £120 :money:) which fits - hooray!
Treated myself to some lush bath bombs to force myself to have a relaxing soak at least once a week and bought some clarins skin care - I shouldn't really as I have loads I need to use up, but my skin is awful at the moment and nothing I own is touching it.
I have decided that I'm going to make a proper effort with skincare and with enforced relaxation - I have a load of books I really want to read, so am setting a target of (at least) a book every 2 weeks, going to see a film (on reduced price ticket Tuesday :money:) every 2-3 weeks, just to feel like I'm being constructive with my time and not ending up sat in front of the tv/on the Internet every evening.
Hope you're all doing well - any resolutions to share?0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
I have made a start on fabbing in a round about sort of way i have scrubbed the bath ready for a soak tonight with my teeth firmly scrubbed likewise my hair.
I spent ages decluttering and cleaning in my bedroom and sorting out clothes, costume jewellery and lotions and potions. Trouble is i don't really know what type of skin i have so i tend to take pot luck with products. My nails will be devarnished by bathtime.
There is just so much of me thats neglected i really don't know exactly where to start.
regards:j0 -
Have loads of toiletries stashed all over the house so today I gathered them all together and dumped them on the kitchen table. Sorted them in to cleansers. moisturisers, perfumes makeup etc. Then I sorted each group. I found 2 perfumes I just cannot stand even as airfreshener so they will go. Also cleansers etc the nearly empty ones I have put in my toilet bag for holidays. Also sorted out all my makeup which I rarely wear. Have loads of eyemakeup and weird coloured lipsticks and lipgloss I don't used. I use a narrow cane CD unit as a bedside cabinet so a drawer for each lot. I also found about 10 shower gels so put these in the bathroom along with 2 bath soaks which I will use to clean my shower cabinet so that isn't wasted. A carrier bag full of makep and perfumes I used to sell on ebay but can't be bothered so these will go on freegle along with some clothes I have cleared out.0

Hi everyone, I've been lurking on here for a while, so thought this would be a good time to join in.
I've also managed to lose some weight with Slimming World, just over a stone to be exact, but I've still felt like a frump over Christmas. I do still have another 3 and a half stones to go though.
I really need to be more active to improve my weight loss, and have a good sort out of my wardrobe.
I've already felt inspired just by reading this thread, so I'm looking forward to joining in.New Year New You Challenge - 13.5lbs/10lbs

LL - how long have you been eating paleo for? I did about three months last year and it was blooming amazing. For my energy and my weight .
I'm going to do it for January as well as doing dry January, to kick start my year.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

Oh dear Tooties, that really made me laugh out loud, I mis-read your post thinking you were going to be soaking youre teeth in the bath :rotfl: :rotfl:
Yes I have started too, last night I did the cleansing, re-hydrating face mask and moisturising. Before bed I searched out the cotton gloves and socks I had lurking somewhere, slathered my hands and feet in body lotion then gloves and socks on before bed - not the most glamorous bedtime look, but needs must and yes they are a bit softer today. Filed and shaped fingernails this morning but cuticles need a bit of work before I apply polish.
Weighed myself this morning, and it's not as bad as I thought. Losing 7lbs would get me back to what I feel comfortable at, but losing 10lbs would make it "Fab", so thats what I am aiming for (fingers crossed)
Popped out to the shops today and although I was still in leggings/baggy top/long boots, hair still in need of a cut but the lippy and mascara were on - progress.......I think soJan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
July - Grocery spends = £119.54
Aug - Grocery spends = £20.630 -
Hi all
Well I had abit of an accident today, I was going into Pandora to buy myself a bracelet with money left to me from my Nan and I was so excited that the shop wasn't busy that I went smack into the door, cue nose bleed (never had one before), a few tears, more of embarrassment than pain. The staff were so helpful and couldn't of done more for me.
Anyone know if there is a manicure set that I can use at home, my hands and nails are awful I had a little look in town but wasn't really sure what I was looking for.
Hope everyone is well and hugs to those that need them xChiari Brain Malformation - decompression survivor

Aw, Hewie29, hope you are ok.
Well I had a good start today. I had a soak in the bath this morning, then dried and curled my hair and put on some make up and perfume. I am still dressed in jeans but it was too cold for anything else.
I am just in the middle of painting my nails and then the only thing left to do is de hair my legs.
Must remember to take off my make up before bed, use my clarisonic and brush my teeth.
This thread is so motivating.0
