  • Went to the doctors yesterday, been putting it off for 3 weeks but this thread inspired me to look after myself. I deserve to feel well. Did hair and make up and looked presentable when I went out, burst into tears at doctors because been 'persevering' for so long. Got a telling off, some strong meds and instructions to stop looking after everyone else and let myself be looked after. Easier said than done for me...

Today will be spent relaxing, maybe with a face mask and some scented candles. If I play the poorly card enough OH may even be persuaded to treat me to a foot massage :rotfl:

Missmoney - Well done to you for finally making some time to look after you. DO WHAT YOUR DOCTOR TELLS YOU If your health suffers then you will not be strong enough to be able to support your family the way you want to. Looking after yourself & recognising that you cannot do everything is better for everyone.
You've taken the first step (often the hardest) so maybe see if you can glean a little bit of 'me' time during your week. The face mask & candles sound lovely so relax & enjoy them - it'll do you good.

Rose - sounds like you're going to have a lovely if hectic weekend - hope it all goes to plan, I'm sure it will & tell us all about it later

Bit of a lazy day here - will wash & blow dry my hair & a bit of fabbing as we're going out this evening. Only a Chilli & Quiz night but I'll make the effort. As lon as no one looks at my hands. I had a problem with my printer so decided to refill the cartridge & the blooming thing leaked all over me so I'm now a member of the Black Hand gang lol!

Have a fabby day everyone x

    Good morning lovely ladies

Well as you can see today is my weigh in day - have lost the grand total of 0.5 lb this week. A bit disappointing but better than a gain.

Total loss this month is 5lb. I was hoping for 6lb but at least I've made a start.

    My Fab Goals for February

    1. Lose 4lbs
    2. Get. Hair done - appt made for next Wednesday
    3. weekly diy facial - the full monty not just a quick face mask;)

I think that's enough to be going on with

    Other goals for February

Buy and paint up a narrow tall boy and nightstand for my bedroom
    Will order those next week.

Finish my financial review and continue reorganising bank and savings accounts to maximise interest.

Keep an eye out on Rightmove - the market is waking up - time to start looking for a house.

I am still busy with mum and dad house. Another three bags are sitting in the car ready for the charity shop and this weekend I need to sort through one of dads concertina box files, it has all his insurance policies, wills, land deeds etc

Dad has gifted my sister and I a parcel of land - he did it several years ago and we've done nothing with it. I'm going to look at the possibility of obtaining planning permission. I doubt that we will get it first attempt so I aim to put in an application every year until the council finally cave in::rotfl:

I'm a great believer in the old adage "persistence pays off"

Which brings us nicely back to the thread.

I've slipped a bit this week - theres a lot going on in my head.

Next week would hVe been our wedding Anniversay plus it's nearly the 6 month Anniversay of OHs death. I think this has been playing on my mind. It's just a little blip and I know I will come out the other side.... I just need to be patient and kind to myself.

I have climbed back onto the fabbing wagon and it's onwards and upwards for a new month.

MissMoneysaver- well done on going to the doctors. Now do as he tells you!!!!

Rose - sounds like you are in for a full on weekend. Hope you have a lovely time. Sounds like fun......And the food sounds delicious.

Nice quiet weekend planned, house fabbing and domestic goddessing. The sun has come out so I am going to nip out for a walk down to the shop and stock up on fruit and veg.

Today I shall be mainly "Kondoing":rotfl: and then a cook a nice dinner.

DS2 is a little bit subdued, the romance is unfortunately over, so it's time for me to step in with a bit of TLC, a few of his favourite meals, maybe a little shopping trip.......

He's ok with it, a bit disappointed but quite philosophical. He's known for a while that it was going nowhere.

I'm sure Miss Right is out there somewhere. We just need to find her.

    As for DS1........he's a hopeless case.:rotfl:

That's definitely true. I was only thinking this morning that it's not necessarily about the treatments themselves (beneficial though they are) but the actual act of having some pampering that is good for us. Whether it's because it's time out from a busy job/family or just to counteract that can't be bothered feeling.

We've got some visitors arriving today to stay in the city for weekend but we need to spend some time entertaining them. Off to a Thai restaurant tonight but some walking's involved so will have to think carefully about suitable outfit that's OK with comfy shoes and keeping warm.

You haven't done badly at all with the weightloss LL. It's in excess of 1lb per week for January. Do you know why you did better some weeks than others? When I was losing I kept a food diary so I could see at a glance if having too many 'treats', not enough veg etc.

A bit grey here but not too bad. I'm hoping February will start show signs of spring. I saw a photo in today's paper of a carpet of snowdrops, may try to find out where there are some near here we could visit.:)

Well done on the weight loss LL - as the saying goes - Every little helps!!

My DS1 has just come out of a relationship too so I'm doing the same! I don't know any single suitable females unfortunately ;( It doesn't matter how old our children get - they'll always be our children & we will worry about them.

DH just called up to say he's made a cuppa so off to have that & wash my hair for tonight. Its not dress up so I'm wearing 'smart' jeans with a navy & fuchsia printed top that's got some subtle 'twinkles' on it AND i've found a really nice scarf thingy that was given me with metal tassels on the ends that's a perfect match to the fuchsia in the top - sorted!!

    Good morning lovely ladies

Well here we are - one month gone by already.

How did we do in January. Did we meet our January goals and objectives or did some of us fall by the wayside. Never mind, to those who fell just Pick yourselves up and start again.

Remember it's not how many tims we fall. It's about whether or not we can pick ourselves up and keep going. Let's learn from our failures and move on to greater success this month.

Maman I think your idea of food tracking is an excellent idea, I've done this in the past when I've tried to lose weight. You are right it does help keep me on the straight and narrow. I will turn inT into a kind of journal, recording my thoughts and feelings. It might help show me where the triggers and danger zones are.

I know for some people hormonal blips Can lead to diet relapses and that stress can be a trigger for emotional eating. I'm not sure what my triggers are. I do know that having the right foods in the house helps me so today I will stock up on f&v so that I have plenty of healthy options near at hand.

I've set myself a couple of mini targets for this month. I really need to
focus on adding some more exercises into my daily routines. The study has a nice clean floor space to setup my yoga mat so I've no excuses now. There is a second tv in there so I might set up a dvd player and drag out some fitness DVDs

So a quick reminder for the newbies of where we are at now

    1. Perfunme - every day
    2. The mirror test parts 1 & 2

Part 2 of the mirror test brings me nicely back to the "p" word .....

    POSTURE. :rotfl:

Are we all remembering to stand tall and straight, protect your backs and necks.

Sit nicely as the nuns would say.

    Move gracefully.

Stand tall and proud and look the world straight in the eye.

And of course - don't forget to

    :):):):)

Why is it that whenever LL mentions the P words I find myself automatically straightening my back and rushing off to spray the perfume that I always manage to forget!:rotfl:

I'm glad you found the tip helpful LL, which brings me on to another P word I suppose: Planning!

I find that doing a meal plan and shopping list is not only very :money:but also really good for healthy eating. Briefly, if I buy what's good for me then I can't eat loads of rubbish. So there's all the usual OS advice about 'shopping' from fridge/storecupboard/freezer first to save waste but also planning healthy meals. I find (with the exception of wine:o) that it's best if I have treats when I'm out. So if I really want a cake or battered fish or cheese it's best to have it when I'm out. That way it's only one portion and I don't feel compelled to finish it off! For those of you cooking for others then try to buy them treats that you aren't that keen on so not your favourite flavour of biscuits or crisps. Just a thought.

I'm off to football today but need to look smart as meeting friends for a drink afterwards. I've put on my new, straight black jeans that I bought in M&S sale. Not too much walking involved today so may wear boots with heels and 'Scottish Widows' long, black coat with hood. Then so I don't look too much like black widow will need some colour maybe in scarf and gloves and definitely in make up.;)

Chilly but bright and sunny here today. Hope all are well.:)
