Enjoying the 'Travel Tales' I was just thinking about how often people used to say 'You're so lucky being able to travel with work & all paid for' - yes, & getting up at all hours for flights, hanging around in airports, going from meeting to meeting & frequestly going from plane, to hotel, to meeting & never seeing the outside at all. arriving home in the early hours and back at work that morning to give a report - do I miss it - no way!!
I do miss some of the lovely people I've met & I have been lucky enough to stay in touch with a few though.
Bet you can recognise certain airports more easily than you could any of their so-called landmarks. And probably tell the hotel chain by being dropped in a random room!lessonlearned wrote: »Not forgetting, jet lag, mozzie bites, stomach upsets, throat infections from air conditioning........no I don't miss it one bit.
I did meet some smashing people though.
... jet lag on jet lag... and not being able to remember when you were last in the country you're entering ... or TBH which country you are now in or where you have come from...0 -
My DH travels most weeks with his job, in the past it was 2-3 week trips to the USA twice a year & Israel 3 or 4 times a year. He used to love his weekends, and generally tried to be somewhere interesting or on the Israeli coast so he could be a tourist & relax. Nowadays he is usually bedhopping in the UK, with odd jaunts to South Africa, Japan & Sweden. He always has a separate toilet bag and another as a mobile medicine cabinet with Rennies, Imodium, Sleepease, caffeine tablets, paracetamol, plasters and antihistamines. He also packs each of his laundry-folded (or Kondo folded
) shirts into a plastic ziplock bag to keep them flat in his case..

Ooh great input since i posted!
I am due to come here three times a year for the foreseeable future so will have to get used to it. Great tip re aircon - though I just turned it off, but i guess any other time of year is going to make that difficult.
My biggest problem is the food - generally i follow the 5:2 way of eating, with low wheat and low sugar. 5:2 is impossible while I am here - so I have skipped the odd lunch, just to get that feeling of proper hunger occasionally. i am following a generally low carb regime, but am drinking every night. I also have an intolerance to MSG and Sulphites - almost impossible to avoid. Especially here in HK  So thudding heart, aching neck, sleepiness are common feelings atm. I thought I would have put on weight, though the hotel scales say not. It will sort itself out when i get home in any case.
I never buy new clothes for holidays, in case something happens to them.
i was sat in a bar the other night, teaching my two male colleagues how to Kondo fold their luggage! :rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Don't forget the fibre tablets for long-haul/multi-stop trips
(I also use zinc on the plane - lozenges and nasal spray)0 -
Morning
I tend to buy a new bikini for holiday every other year and depending on where we are going I will get a new dress or outfit but try and get thing's I can also wear in the UK. I often aim to pick things up in the sale as well so although it's new it cost less. For honeymoon I will be having some new clothes (but that's a special holiday right?) Again I have seen things I would like, which I will pick up in sale or with money off codes and will make sure I can wear them when at home too.:money:
Xbikes was hard last night, very sweaty!! Showered and moisturised when I got home and we had beef stir-fry for tea. It was a little bland as I didn't add a sauce and OH said it was a little it like warmed up salad :rotfl: although he admitted with a sauce it would of been spot on (now recipe looking).
Usual cleanse/tone/moisturise this morning. Everyday makeup applied and hair tied back + spritz of perfume.Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

For once I remembered perfume this morning without coming on here for a reminder!:)
I think you're allowed new clothes for your honeymoon newthrift but don't buy anything yet as you may drop size(s)!
I look at bikinis each year as I'm really fussy so am always on the lookout for styles that suit. I'm not a fan of halter necks (uncomfortable IMO and not so easy to wear under a dress/top) so prefer a bandeau or proper shoulder straps. Strangely enough supermarkets can be good sources.
We had a light dusting of snow overnight, very pretty to wake up to but all melted away now.0 -
I'm another one who just 'tops up' holiday clothes in the sales especially if they're not very likely to be worn in the UK!
Only moisturise & perfume today as I went to the gym this morning - getting into the routine a bit better now. No more fabbing today as I'm home crawling on the floor cutting out fabric. but DS! has asked me to go shopping with him(!!!!!) tomorrow & just whatsapped me to say he's booked lunch at a swish Italian restaurant so a LOT of fabbing for tomorrow & smart 'Ladies wot Lunch' clothes (and comfy shoes) I don't particularly NEED anything but if something catches my eye........although I will be focusing on him as its his shopping day. Hasten to add he's had some Christmas vouchers from his Dad & Stepmum - he likes nice things but he's certainly not a shopper & we have similar tastes.
Nice to be going out with a 'young man' hahaSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Buying holiday clothes is up there with the strange concept that is Christmas clothes. I did buy a bikini and shorts in the sales last year but only because I had lost too much weight to fit in the stored stuff.
Lesson learned, when you say give yourself a weekly facial and more than just a mask what do you actually do? I have a microdermabrasion thing booked this week (fell for the sales pitch whilst having some facial waxing) but once that is done I'd like to keep on top of things if I can.
I wore a skirt today for the first time in a long while. How cold do your legs get'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
I find that I'm actually warmer in my work "uniform" of a shift dress, long sleeve t-shirt & cardi with opaque tights & leather boots than in trousers.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
