Thanks for all the tips on short nails - off to file them all short & put some nail hardener on them so at least they'll look tidy
This is the sort of thing I meant, and lots in my current favourite dark red/maroon colour:

I'm another who seems to have achieved s*d all today. I've read the paper;), made an important phone call for my work, cooked a healthy meal and had a friend round for coffee. I'll be going dancing later. Does that count?0 -
Afternoon All
Sorry to hear a lot of you are feeling off colour - or worse. I hope you all are feeling better soon.
I've actually achieved quite a bit today one way and another. I started off with a trip to the dentist - just a check up. Unfortunately, I have to go back as although I don't need anything doing, the dentist was about to scale my teeth and dropped his little gadget on the floor! That meant it needed sterilising again and his spare was already being done and wouldn't be finished for another 15 minutes. Still, at least it won't cost me any extra as I didn't have to pay this time.
After my check up I went for a run. It was just under 4 miles and incorporated several sessions of faster 15 second runs every 5 minutes or so. According to my friend's Fitbit we burned up about 800 calories but I think that is a bit optimistic.
Since then I've taken a hot water cylinder to the scrap yard, done a bit of shopping with DH, and sorted and tidied 2 shelves in my wardrobe. I've also had home made celery soup and fruit for lunch. I'm busy sorting out my guest room at present as my daughter is coming home at the weekend for a belated Christmas. Lots of other family are coming too and I'm doing a buffet for between 14 and 18 people on Saturday. I've already baked a fruit cake and have plans for various other treats to cook nearer the time. I just need to resist scraping the bowls as I did with the fruit cake mixture yesterday as it counteracted all my low carb eating.
I have work tonight but don't start till 7 so haven't sorted out what I'm going to wear. After culling my wardrobe the other day I'm now feeling slightly disenchanted with what I chose to keep and may have another sort out later this week. I haven't decided what to wear at the weekend yet but want something that really suits me as not only is it a big family occasion but also Ex OH will be there and I always like to try and look extra good when he is around!
Hope you all enjoy your evening.

Took DS2 on a 4hr round trip yesterday for a dance competition, knew it was going to be a long day so dressed for comfort, and by the time I got there, I felt like a complete frump!!
So today got up at crack of dawn, had a long hot shower, give my hair a good conditioning treatment, de fuzzed everywhere, moisturised, and gave myself a facial, all before boys and hubby got up, and felt a lot better for it today.
Amazing what a bit of time out can do one self! Even popped to Prim&rk while DS2 was at dance this afternoon and treated myself to a new handbag and 2 topsLoving life to the full, just need purse full too

Morning everyone!
I'm so sick of winter! I'm always cold, anything nice I wear is hidden under layers and my hair is constantly tufty from wearing hats. Oh and I really miss sunshineI'm not used to being this busy, and it's really takig it out of me. I'm tired all the time and the house isn't getting looked after as much as it should. I've been resorting to sugar and caffeine to keep me going and I'm feeling bloated and sluggish. Must do better!
Oh well, I'm off to have a bath and do my hair before I go out in the cold, and I'll take my Ipod with me to listen to on the bus to try to cheer me up
Have a good day everyone x0 -
I'm so sick of winter!
You and me both!! I was only discussing it with friends last night, everyone seemed to be feeling drained and tired.
I generally come on and say 'I've done all my basic fabbing for today'. It occurred to me that I've only reached this with the help of the thread. So I've set the bar higher thanks to all of you.
So shower done, moisturising done, hair washed and blow dried, smart/casual clothes for a day at home catching up with paperwork etc.
My new Jack Wills jacket arrived this morning, so I've hung it up in spare room where I can admire it! I might wear it out to dinner later in the week.:j0 -

De-lurking to say hope you're feeling better today & to recommend menthol crystals. A tiny amount in boiling water is brilliant for clearing your sinuses, just breathe the steam in through your nose.
I got mine from a local pharmacy after being recommended them by my Dr. I paid £2.10 but you can also get them delivered from Amazon.
Back to lurkdom now, but I do hope to join in properly sometime soon'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
Gladly!!
Wow that's quite some list you've achieved already with the wedding plans.:T
I'm rather ignorant about how Pinterest works. Do you mean you want your wardrobe to be like Kate Middleton's so you'll be adding photos of her various outfits. At the moment they're maternity clothes!:rotfl:
:rotfl: I admit i'm not pinning the pictures of maternity wear!! Basically there is allsorts of pictures and things which then sometimes lead to a website (example - a lovely looking roast chicken might take you through to the recipe of bbc good food) some are just the picture or go to some carp but you can still have a nosey (if that makes sense). I have a 'folder' called beautiful style and I just search and scroll and add 'pin' pictures of full outfits or part outfits/hair ect that I like or think would work for me. I have folders on it for everything :rotfl: it is both helpful and addictive!lessonlearned wrote: »Good afternoon Fabbers.
Newthruft - the wedding plans sound awesome!!! I hope the sun shines for you and that you have a beautiful and memorable day. I agree that Kate Middleton's style is developing nicely. She did dress a bit too "old" at first and some of her outfits are still a bit fussy at times but she is doing really well now. It must be terribly difficult for a young woman in her position because I'm sure the palace will have all sorts of petty rules and restrictions on what they deem as "appropriate".
Poor Diana struggled at first and made some horrendous mistakes but she soon found her feet and I think she was one of the most stylish women of her time, up there with Jackie Onassis and Audrey Heoburn.
I especially liked Dianas clothes once she had split from Charles and could relax her style a bit. She really nailed "Casual Chic". I also loved some of her killer evening dresses. She certainly knew how to "knock 'em deAd" and didn't half scrub up well.
Right that's my lunch break over - going to nip out for a walk to the shops, wearing my bright multicoloured scarf in shades of vivid blue and turqoise to brighten up a dreary Monday afternoon.
I do agree I think she has got better with age, which I think i'm doing, abit like a fine wine:rotfl:
Feeling much better today so will be going for my run after work. Last night did mean I got a nice tea sorted early on and got some bits in the house sorted, also ordered some things from e*ay and amaz*n for the wedding
Ordered myself a gilet from fatface. My MIL2b gave me £50 for my birthday and my other one is broken (zip buttons the lot) and I wore it looads!! So I decided to buy myself another but the one I liked was £72  found a voucher code and got £10.80 off and still free delivery so i'm happy with that :T
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Agree on the fabbing front and it slipping due to weather and mood. Have had extra long shower. De fuzzed body scrubbed and lots of moisturiser. Will wait till that seeps in and do another coat as body is very dry just now. Mixture of cereal heating heavy clothes and laziness I think. Have up'do my water intake from y-day too to see if I can help tackle dry skin & dark eyes..!!
Body still feeling sore & tired but do feel better after good scrub. Deep conditioner in hair then rinsed and hair tied back with leave in condition in to hope to give that good moisturise too.
Waxing app later this week can't wait for eyebrows to be done. Then eyelashes tinted and nails done and hopefull feel like new woman! Night out on Friday night. I'm on dryathlon jan so no drinking for me but will be out so may try and do somep gradual tan on wed/Thursday we will see....
Another day of lying on bed with magazines but doing bits and pieces of washing & tidying as I go.
Hope everyone else is doing well and glad I know I'm not the only one forcing myself with basics of fabness. Sometime you just need to be reminded. Happy fabbing folks ....0 -
Only moisturised & perfumed this morning as its 'Gym Day' my new programme is becoming more 'doable' I won't say better 'cos I'm having to pace myself!! No more fabbing as I'm just going to make some chicken pies with Sunday's leftovers and a chunky soup for me to eat on my 5:2 days.
Turning cold here even though the weather report forecast sunny - so keep warm fabbers & have a good daySmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
