In the western world we eat far too much and also far too much of the wrong foods hence she paramaceutical company's make a fortune of people being 'sick' nothing I am doing is dangerous and there is no harm in cutting down to re-education your palette on real food and health again.
Of to make my green juice for lunch.... Food for nice salAds & soup the rest of the week and plenty veggies in too.
Living purely upon an aloe vera gel even for a short time, can not be classed as healthy.
All you need to do is eat a sensible balanced diet, low in sodium, and saturated fat. Cut out processed food and sugars, and that will be a far more sensible approach to changing a diet.
The clean 9 relies solely upon starvation of the body, forcing it into a state of shock and ketosis, as a result the body starts to break down muscle, as it enters survival mode.
So, I would say that there is some harm in this 'diet', if it is alongside a healthy balanced eating regime then less so, i read that you were doing the Clean 9 programme, which is very limited.0 -

Credit crunch I have said twice I am NOT following it to the T and I am NOT only living on aloe Vera. I appreciate you have your own views however you are replying based on your opinions on clean 9 rather than what I am actually doing. Can you please stop singling out my posts as your responses do not match what I am actually doing. As I have mentioned twice I have salad items I'm off to make green juice and I also have soup to make. Can we please move on!0 -
Good afternoon Fabbers.
Silva- loving the sound of Magnificemt Monday - set us up for the co ing week. Or if you are the sort who is miserable on a Monday then why not go for a Magical Monday night, something to look forward to, to get you through the first day of the week, an extra special supper, with lighted candles, and a nicely set table.
One of the things I bought at IKEA was a nice vase for £1, so today my Magnificent Monday will entail me picking up,a cheap bunch of flowers when I nip to the shops. I noticed they had tulips yesterday.
DS 2 has made a start on setting out our new office space and I've arranged for a chazzza shop to pick up the unwanted wardrobe and table so it's all starting to look good. I've also found some untreated pine chest of drawers For my room and will get those ordered and delivered (hopefully not damaged:rotfl:) next week .
Ooh don't you just love it when a plan starts to come together.
Good news I've lost half a lb so that's a total of 5lb so far. - slow but steady.;)
Sweetcheeks I tend to agree with Credit Crunched about extreme de-toxing and fad diets. Please be careful. At best they are a bit of a con because the minute you start eating normal food you just put the weight back on, at worst they can be very dangerous.
I know it's not glamourous but really I think long term healthy eating is the best way forward for most of us. The weight loss may be slower but I think it's better to do it slowly and make long term changes.
Maddie - thanks for the Babybell idea. Very convenient for on the move snacks and I love any sort of cheese, although I am being careful not to eat as much as I used to - one of my little weaknesses.
However as you say a Babybell is far better than a sugar laden cake or muffin.
For treats I do love. Piece of,chocolate. Well yesterday I bought some Polish chocolate truffles which were on,offer at my local shop. wow - what a chocolate hit, you only need one:rotfl: Absolutely delicious and because one satisfies my chocolate lust I can indulge without damaging my weight loss.....Now that's what I call a win-win.
Alec - hope you feel better soon. Take it easy and rest up.
Maman - love the jacket....
Newthruft - the wedding plans sound awesome!!! I hope the sun shines for you and that you have a beautiful and memorable day. I agree that Kate Middleton's style is developing nicely. She did dress a bit too "old" at first and some of her outfits are still a bit fussy at times but she is doing really well now. It must be terribly difficult for a young woman in her position because I'm sure the palace will have all sorts of petty rules and restrictions on what they deem as "appropriate".
Poor Diana struggled at first and made some horrendous mistakes but she soon found her feet and I think she was one of the most stylish women of her time, up there with Jackie Onassis and Audrey Heoburn.
I especially liked Dianas clothes once she had split from Charles and could relax her style a bit. She really nailed "Casual Chic". I also loved some of her killer evening dresses. She certainly knew how to "knock 'em deAd" and didn't half scrub up well.
Right that's my lunch break over - going to nip out for a walk to the shops, wearing my bright multicoloured scarf in shades of vivid blue and turqoise to brighten up a dreary Monday afternoon.0 -

Gladly!!
Wow that's quite some list you've achieved already with the wedding plans.:T
I'm rather ignorant about how Pinterest works. Do you mean you want your wardrobe to be like Kate Middleton's so you'll be adding photos of her various outfits. At the moment they're maternity clothes!:rotfl:
Sorry to hear you've been poorly alec. I've had my 'cold' since Christmas and although I'm not really ill in terms of symptoms I can't believe how tired I am. Roll on spring.:)
For those you with nail mishaps: short, blunt cut nails especially with a dark polish are very popular at the moment. So I agree, cut them all down shortish.0 -
I apologise if I got the wrong end of the stick, the line
"I'm starting the clean 9 aloe Vera detox plan on Monday for 9 days"
indicated to me that you were following the detox plan, as an open forum, I thought it polite to offer some guidance on the subject, as it is an area that I feel strongly about, having seen many people I know attempt these faddy diets, only to put the weight on when they return to normality, with the only thing lighter being their wallet.0 -

Sweetcheeks - I am sorry if I also sounded a bit judgemental - I certainly didn't mean to. I know you are sensible and wouldn't do anything daft.
I think most of us on here aren't up for extreme diets.
I have a friend, bless her, who keeps doing the slim fast thing. Yes she loses a bit of weight, but then piles it all on again and then some more as well for good measure. She must spend a small fortune and each time she just sets herself up for disappointment.
Anyway it sounds like you know what you are doing - plenty of salads, veg soups etc will give you loads of good nutrients.
I know some people think Paleo is a bit of a fad diet but really its just about cutting out refined over processed foods, and eating clean healthy food. I think if you listen to your body it will tell you what it needs. I've figured out that if it makes me feel uncomfortable and upsets my tummy then Im better off avoiding the offending item.
I do hope I didn't offend you.0 -
Sorry also I should have added my plan to use nice thick veggie soups and salads along side this and not use only this to avoid confusion. I am vegetarian however sometimes I spend a lot of time eating gorgeous creamy pastas and risottos which are lovely but not at all healthy and have to get my self back into heather eating to find some balance. Apologies for crossed wires and snapping
My nails were all broken over new year so very short and midnight blue. Thumbs still have catches at side so will be cutting short again this weekend when get change. Of colour to try and grow tha damage out without actually loosing my nails .. Fingers crossed that works. I think shot nails can look just as nice if they are neat.0 -
Not at all LL I am so sorry. I think I need to get myself off here and go and have a word with myself. I am currently in bed and with sinusitis and very crabbit. However THAT IS NO EXCUSE!! Apologies to anyone I have caused upset to by my snipping. I probably haven't explained myself as well as I could have therefore I have taken relays the wrong way.
I appreciate what everyone is saying. I had the change if the clean nine set for buttons so I took it and thought j would use it to help fill me up skiing sude a healthy diet as I am off this week to reset my healthy eat as such. I have a horrifically sweet tooth and it is ridiculous... I plan to make wholesome soups especially for OH coming home from work ( altho not today) and have nice salads at lunch time with a green juice prepared which I will add my protein scoop too). Lots of nice hot baths and relaxing reading. I was planning to go to gym too but I hVe been floored over weekend/ today so that will be reviewed as week goes on but cancelled mon/tues/wed so far.
I certainly value to online friendships I have here and don't want to offend - or have crossed wires. Appreciate people's posts...

Sweetcheeks - WW used to have a 'no point' soup which I've done for years when I need to lose a few pounds. Basically its a tin of tomatoes, jar of sweet peppers and anything else you care to bung in. I add a tin of kidney beans & some chilli to give it a bit of a kick & leave the veg chunky so I feel I've had something substantial & make enough for 3/4 portions. Its good when the weathers rotten as I couldn't face salad & its handy to have something ready prepared so you don't succumb to fridge/cupboard raids!!
I'll be on my 5:2 tomorrow - I think as I have so few pounds to lose (all round my middle) I'm struggling so I think I may just keep an eye on my weight as I'm not overweight anyway & try again when the weather warms up & I will be eating more fruit & veg - we shall see.
Thanks for all the tips on short nails - off to file them all short & put some nail hardener on them so at least they'll look tidySmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Sweetcheeks - don't worry we all have our Crabby days. My sons Call me crab face sometimes...... i tell them my star sign is Cancer so I'm allowed :rotfl:
Hope you feel better soon, it's not nice to feel "out of sorts".
I must admit I feel really tird today, have lost my mojo,....
I had all sorts of plans and schemes for today and was going to work wonders but I have done bu&&er all. Oh well tomorrow is another day.
I'll cook a nice dinner for DS2 and just have a quick tidy round so everywhere looks homely and inviting for him. I can do,the intended deep clean another day when I get my mojo back.
I don't know about you dear ladies but Im getting fed up with winter now. Apparently we Are in for another "Artic Blast":(
DS2 read the meters last night and was a bit disappointed. I told him not to worry I'll cough up the extra and that it's only another couple of months or so now - spring is just waiting in the wings....I'm sure we will all feel better.
Both my boys seem to be really tired too, TBH I think it's still the aftershocks from OHs death, they are coping well enough but I think these things do take time, grief has to run its natural course.
Both my dad and my sister are really struggling with mum too, her pain meds need to be increased again.. Dad can't sleep and sis has crippling headaches, they are so bad her doctor sent her for an MRI last week. at least they didn't spot anything nasty but I have to admit I am very concerned, she really isn't well.
Stress has a lot to answer0
