Frugal Frump to Fab - 2015

Morning all, hope you not being blown away.
I have had a very busy week, so lots of fabbing and looking out clothes that get overlooked as being "too good". Haircut on Tuesday, a little shorter this time. Wednesday CS stint and then on to Craft Group Christmas lunch, Thursday my session with PT and yesterday meeting up with my bestie for coffee and lots of chat. During all this I have managed to get a humdinger of a head/chest cold and so have now completely run out of steam and have to miss out on monthly coffee morning get together this morning. Today will be a lot of resting and pampering, as ordered by OH (who is usually a "keep up it is only a cold" type of guy - except when he (rarely) has one and then needs lots of attention:rotfl:)The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Thank you for the walking boot feedback
Walking style trainers may be more suitable for what I am planning, I have been walking a lot recently and have been wearing my trainers which are just soaking through in this weather. So I ed something waterproof and comfy for lots of walking. Maybe I should explore some of the walking style trainers?
I do own some Salomon trainers which are definitely more comfortable than walking boots if you're doing a lot of walking on pavements and the like, but have a better tread for doing light stuff off road than regular trainers, and mine do have goretex which keeps my feet drier.
However, in my experience even the best boots won't keep your feet dry if your socks get wet from water running down your legs - can wick the moisture straight down into your footwear. In heavy rain only waterproof trousers covering the tops of your boots are guaranteed to keep the feet dry.
I've had a horrible busy week at work, too long hours and no exercise since Monday, diet been up the creek too.
And to cap it all, after a promising first date last night, I managed to go over on my ankle in my heels and fall over on the way back to the station, in front of the date of course. I would say I am not sure if my pride or my body is more injured, but I think it's the latter.
Struggling to walk today, ankle and foot is really stiff so walking really hurts, knee bruised and scraped and even my elbow and wrist are feeling a bit store - think I stupidly tried to break my fall with my arm. So the planned little walk I was going to do with my friend today is definitely off as is the run I was going to do tomorrow morning.
Date was very nice about it but not the best way to make a good impression. At least I wasn't a baby about it and cried, but I was in so much pain I didn't really register he was holding out a hand to help me up and just scrambled up myself. In danger of having looked too independent for my own good!0 -
Hope the hair turns out fab chanie
Look after yourself maddie, hope you get lots of pampering
Oh indie that sounds sore, but date sounds nice

I am making sure I look fab on my walks, well as fab as you can with hats and scarves and being frozen!konMarie and fabbing all the way

Couldn't agree more! Gaiters help too.
Lolly well done on your competition! How far do you need to walk to be sure of winning?0 -
Thanks Dapster with these guys it's about 10 miles a day that's why I don't win often :rotfl:konMarie and fabbing all the way

Morning all - not posted much lately, for no particular reason, but been lurking along.
I find Fat Face pyjamas lovely - but expensive. i have just bought myself some Next ones in a similar style (tartan trews and plain long sleeved top) for one of the kids to give me for christmas or my birthday (which is a week before). Hope i don't regret it and wish I'd splashed out on the pricier ones....
If i am having a PJ day then i wear them with a hoodie - i have a selection of ones that the kids got from various school trips but don't wear anymore. One says Vickieeeeeeee (DD) and another Spock (also DD) . They are lovely, warm and comfy.
Did my winter Project 333 swap over this week, though i only changed about 5 items. White jeans were swapped for brown wide legged, woollen trousers, I swapped a couple of thin cardies for thicker jumpers and i swapped a couple of tops for woollen tunics. I will see how it goes. I work on a basic wardrobe of under 40 items now and am loving it.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Am curious - what is project 333?
I can't imagine me managing on a wardrobe of under 40 items though.... am not disciplined enough on getting the laundry done for a start.
My ankle and foot are still stiff today, feeling very frustrated. I should be out Christmas shopping but I think I'd be better resting it and going nearer the time. Maybe will be better tomorrow and I can go on my day off. Today will just have to be a bit of a chill out with a book and DVD day.0 -

You're right they are expensive, as are the Jack Wills ones. I'm hoping they might be reduced in the Sales.
I'm wearing leggings today! Not my usual attire, these are thermal ones I bought for wearing under things in the cold but I fancied something comfy and until I get PJs that's the best I could do.
Shame about the accident indie but if date is worthy he won't be put off. keep us posted.
Jumpsuit proved to be exactly right on Friday evening. Lace dress would have been far too formal.0 -

Gosh, I am impressed you can stick to that. I can't imagine sticking to 33 items knowing it includes things like accessories, jewellery, footwear etc. Just clothes would have been scary enough - although at least it doesn't include underwear / sports kit.
Very frugal though and if you are sticking to that little I guess you can really buy lovely quality stuff.
I think I will stick to Kondo - only keep / buy if I really love it. (Must give my wardrobe another go)
I think I'd go into rebel mode and shop more if I told myself I should stick to 33 items - it's like telling myself I can't have chocolate - wind up hoovering up the stuff like I'll never see it again.
Be interesting to count up how many items I actually have in my wardrobe... Am sure if I add in jewellery and all accessories it runs into many hundreds.:eek:0
