Frugal Frump to Fab - 2015

lolly the recipe for my cleanser is here and it looks the same as lush angels on bare skin. I found the recommended measurements too dry and ended up adding too much rose water. I guess I need to play around with the formula.

maman I'm loving your Mary-Jane's. They don't look too high, which is good as they will be more comfortable.0 -
I have painted my nails yet again, I think that's 3 times in just over a week! They are nude with a very shiny top coat so should go with everything I'm planning on wearing over the next couple of days. Has anyone here got a uv lamp for doing shellac type nail polish as I've done a complete turnaround from someone who never does their nails to totally loving it
I'm just going out for my second walk of the morning, I'm in a pretty tough competition on my fit bit with friends, we do this every week, and I'm determined to win this week
Ive got the sensationail uv kit and love it. It's half price this weekend on the sensationail website at £35 I believe, it includes all you need including a colour.0 -
lollyfin and Treacle Toes
I have the sensationail too, not used it much as nails as been too short, but it seems to work well.
B**ts have a starter kit half price at £35 and a set of 4 colours for £25, assuming they are full size (not had time to check) that is a good offer as they are £15 each.:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Sorry I've been MIA. Mad times at work, OU assignment due, house inspection, and then 2 days ago we lost our beloved granny, the cornerstone of the family - its all gotten on top of me a bit.
Speaking of homemade cleansers, I make this one for DD19. She is really happy with it and likens its to L*SH stuff. She has combination skin and this works for her. Very simple ingredients you are often likely to already have in the house.

Just coming out of lurkdom. Maman - Sainsbugs do the type of radio you want. You can set the alarm to radio & it stays on for an hour. When you go to bed you can set the radio for up to 90 minutes to turn off. I find if I have the radio on low when I go to bed I go to sleep quicker as it stops my mind churning over!! I'm also using tinted moisturiser daily now. Got a really cheap one from Home Begins to try out & the colour & coverage are really good - really natural.
Got quite a few events in the run up to Christmas so got to sort out for a birthday lunch, a birthday party, a Christmas meal and a posh frocks night!!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

shandyclover, so sorry about your granny, her loss will leave a huge hole in your life, virtual hugs. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Thanks chanie that's a great looking site. Treacle toes and maddie I'm going to have a look now and see which one might be best for me
. Shandy thanks for that one as well, I think I'm going to be busy!
Well I came second in my Fitbit comp by 7 steps! My DD won this week but next week it's definitely my turn.
Just the normal fabbing here this weekend, I have my DGD as my DD is working all weekend so had a nice walk with her this morning and now it's books and toys time.
I am wearing the last of my scruffy jumpers today and although I have loved it for many years I think it's time it went, it doesn't seem to fit with how I want to look/feel anymore so Monday I am going to hit the cs and see what I can get. 90% of the stuff I wear now is stuff I've bought from cs over the last month and so different from what I used to wear but I feel it's more me now I've decided I want to look fab everyday (even while I'm still a bit pudgy)
konMarie and fabbing all the way
Weight loss challenge starting 11st loss in November 4lb0 -
Thanks for the radio idea silva, I'd never have thought of Sainsbury's. I'll take a look.
So sad to hear about your granny shandy. Sending hugs you way.:)
Coming second is nothing to be ashamed of lolly, and good luck for next week in the fitbit competition. I'm a big fan of CS buys too. When I lost/was losing weight I used them a lot to experiment with colour and so that I didn't spend to much until I got back to the size I wanted to be. I like TK Maxx too but in both you just have to be prepared to browse and hope for the best. Sometimes gems and other times a load of tat.
I did get made up today but just for a shopping trip, nothing more exciting today. I have changed the buttons on my new green blouse so that's good to go when fancy wearing it.
I've made an appointment for eyebrow wax on Thursday and hair appointment on Friday as Friday evening we have Christmas 'do'. Still thinking about having shellac done, can decide last minute as nail shop is opposite where I have eyebrows done. Need to make a decision about whether to wear lace dress on Friday or whether I really fancy a jumpsuit. Might venture to Asda and Matalan tomorrow and decide.0 -
shandy thanks for that recipe for the cleanser. Id be too scared to use baking powder on my face as in prone to spots, but it's a recipe that could be adapted. My skin has been so much better recently, which I think is a combination of gentle skincare products (stuff that doesn't irritate my skin) and drinking more water.
Sandy - sorry to hear about your nan.
lolly hope you have a better week in the fitness plan.
maman jet us know what you decide to wear.
I've had a relatively low key couple of days and haven't been out much. Tomorrow, me and Mr c have a child free day so are having a date. We literally never get time to ourselves and are going out for lunch. I want to look nice tomorrow, but we have a lot of running around to do and we have to pick up ds from school at 3:30pm.0 -
maman let us know what you decide to wear.

Hope you have a great time tomorrow chanie. I was only saying to DH last week that we need to make the effort to go out together, just the two of us. It's easy when we've made plans to meet up with someone else just like we went out Thursday for lunch and shopping with DD2 and Friday met up with old friends for supper and theatre. Left to ourselves there's too much of a tendency to just potter around the house. That has it's place but there are so many interesting things/places to see and we always enjoy ourselves when out together. Must try harder.
Stayed in today as weather was dreadful and we finished re-covering dining room chairs. They're looking good. All I've got to do is make a cushion for the easy chair in the bay window and that'll tie it all together. I've got this fabric
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CUSHION-COVER-and-ORLA-KIELY-MULTI-STEM-QUILT-FABRIC-CHRISTMAS-RETRO-GEOMETRIC-6-/331719772745
for my cushion and chair covers are 2 orange, 2 pale blue and 2 sort of olive green/khaki colour.
Still didn't get to go and look at jumpsuits. I suppose it's easy knowing I have the option of lace dress.0
