Early night beckons, OH are I have become terrible night owls since retirement, but I really need to go to bed earlier and rise sooner.

I've always been a night owl. My mam reckoned it was something to do with being born in early hours of the morning. I've been trying to get more sleep though but then I tend to wake up after a couple of hours and last night just couldn't nod off again. I'm going to bed in a moment which is at least an hour earlier than usual and hope for the best as I have to be up and out (and fabbed:eek:) earl in the morning.

Thanks for the heads up on Asda. I'll take a look floss. I was checking my weight chart (I only weigh about every 3 weeks and it's written down) and I'm the same weight as when I wore my lace dress to a wedding. So at least it'll fit if I wear it.:)

maman I'm the opposite to you, I'm a lark. I do so much better in the morning than at night and no matter what time I go to bed, I'm always awake by about 9am. OH is an owl and can stay up all night and sleep in day (if I let him!!!).

Maddie I can't do nails very well either. I have small nails, which I keep short and so I end up painting all over my fingers. I find that light colours on my fingers is best as you can't see the mistakes, but I love dark colours on my toes.

Floss - it sounds like full steam ahead for you.

Thanks Chanie - not today though as I've just had part 2 of my root canal done! Am now eating a teacake & enjoying my free hot choc in our local supermarket :)

Ouch!! But if you could eat a teacake maybe it wasn't quite so painful.:)

I did sleep better but the radio alarm has packed up. I like talk radio to send me off to sleep but need a snooze function so that it turns itself off. The spare radio I've had to use doesn't have this so not so effective as it can easily wake me up again as it plays on! I used to have a radio I could set permanently to go off after an hour (or time period of my choosing) but the latest one had to be reset every time it was turned on and it was fiddly, particularly in the dark in the middle of the night. Anyone got any recommendations?

Got fabbed up early for my meeting this morning. Purple shift dress with black opaques and ballet flats and little black cardi. Feeling quite tired now but I'm sure I'll get second wind soon.:)
  • I am definitely more lark than owl, the ex was an owl and it was quite hard work at times. He wanted me to stay up late with him watching TV and I was always dozing off. Then in the morning I would be ready to get up ages before him and feeling frustrated at wasting the day in bed, especially in the winter when you don't get much daylight. I used to get up and do chores if we were home, but if we were away there wasn't much to do but read.

Oh well, next time I will have to try to find another lark, preferably a hiking lark. I was thinking back through my various ex boyfriends and it seems I've always been inclined to give up what I like to spend more time doing what they like.... I really need to just find someone who likes more of what I like. Not everything obviously, but enough that I don't feel like I have to sacrifice the things that matter most to me in order to spend sufficient time with them.

I did a bit of home fabbing yesterday - my skin was feeling the after effects of too many boozy nights, but some of my favourite REN exfoliating mask followed by my Emma Hardie moisturising one and my skin feels nice and soft again.

Got my hair done on Saturday so it's nice and warm coloured again. Bought a few new clothes too, including my first pair of skinny jeans - never been able to do the knee high boot and jeans tucked in thing before and feels quite smart - not to mention being a good way to stop the breeze getting up my ankles in this cold weather.

Need to get my diet organised better now - had a few crazy busy weeks and let myself off the hook at bit while I was trying to forget about the ex, but I don't want to start putting back what I lost, need to press on and go further. Thinking about trying the 5:2 diet - my social life is often busy enough that trying to have a little bit less every day doesn't work that well, but timing my 2 days to fit with the days I don't have social plans (not that I have them 5 days every week, but some I do) might work quite well.

Has anyone else tried it and been pleased with the results?

Maman - your outfit sounds lovely. What about an inexpensive plug in timer for the socket that the radio goes into? various permutations can be set, when I lived in a freezing cold flat I used one for my fan heater so it was beginning to get warm before I got up in the morning, and to switch on before I got in from work at night.

Indie - I have a friend doing the 5:2 and she finds it really easy and is steadily loosing weight on it. Low/very low carb worked for me in the past, but can be tricky if life is not quite routine. Since I have been gluten free (which is an absolute pain if needing to grab something on the go, or indulge in tea/coffee out with friends) I had been loosing too much weight, but have now found a reasonable GF bread, so seem to be stabilising at last:D, but doesn't solve the tea room treats problem:(

I hope that someone who will bring happiness to your life, without you having to stop being "you" comes into your life very soon- Listen up Universe and do your stuff for Indie!

I was still anaesthetised, but with it being part 2 the manky nerve had all gone so was just the root filling & seal! I did worry about dribbling my hot choc though!

Had a bit of a CS trawl - found a long wool herringbone tweed Zara coat for £7, and a pair of brand new Caterpillar boots with tags for £15 so they both came home with me! I also picked up a few gifts for Chrimbo in TK Maxx and the Red Cross shop. Just need to find DH's final gift and I'm done for his December birthday and for Christmas :D

I'm just back from the docs and have been told I have vertigo :(.
It's pretty horrible but I'm still fabbing and taking a good look at my lifestyle, which isn't great so...
I have stopped smoking, day two on patches and I'm ok
I am going to start getting up earlier to do some yoga, it's something I enjoy even tho I'm not very good at it and always makes me feel so much more relaxed when I'm done
And I'm going to make sure I hit my 10,000 steps everyday, I've been slacking off due to dizziness but am just going to have to do little bursts when I can
These are all achievable and I'm going to look at my diet in the new year and get back on the paleo wagon as it suits me tho I've not done very well recently with feeling off. I am not being strict with food just now as I am stopping smoking but once I have kicked that addiction then I'm going to work on removing sugar.

I'm redoing my nail varnish today and I might go for a bright red, if I'm brave enough :)
Hope your all having a great day
konMarie and fabbing all the way

I've been dong it for a couple of years and find it suits my lifestyle really well. I plan to keep 5:2-in forever, after all it's supposed to be good for you in lots of ways not just weight loss.

I'ge got rid of about 7 and a half stones - although I'll admit a fairly aggressive exercise regime now too :D.

In fact that's part of the reason I keep lurking about this thread. I used to be definitely "frumpy" but am starting to feel a bit more fabulous :p. I went shopping for a Christmas party dress recently and was over the moon that so many fitted and looked pretty good rather than just hoping to find one I could fit. :rotfl:

So I've got my new dress, some fancy shoes I need to practice walking in and have started actually wearing makeup (gasp) at the weekend. Do I qualify as a fab wannabe?

You certainly do Angry Bear, welcome.

You have done so well on the weight loss, you will look fab when you get glammed up and go out in your new dress and shoes

Don't lurk anymore, just keep posting as and when it suits you.
