Today I am wearing nail varnish, I never wear nail varnish and I am going out to buy a lovely grey one that my DD1 has been wearing this week.
My nails are very short and stubbybut I keep looking at them, purple and sparkly, and it's making me smile
That sounds lovely. Shorter nails seem to be quite the thing now and I think they look good with dark polish. Plus dark polish always makes my hands look better. Pale pinks seem to make my hands look as if I've been scrubbing floors all week.
Today I had to make a big effort to do all the pampering after my shower. Didn't help that I'm expecting a parcel delivery and wanted to be in and out quickly in case of any knocks at the door. But I was good and all body lotion done and even foot cream.
I've got a lot of paperwork to do today so not much time for anything else. Two dining chairs covered yesterday. They're art deco with upholstered seats and backs so quite fiddly to take apart, remove the old and put on new covers. The look great though. It's a two person job so will continue when DH next available.
Wet and miserable here but other than a quick sprint to the post box I don't need to venture out:).0 -
Rummer am pleased to hear you are getting good use of our your new coat and boots. In terms of lunch, I eat lots of pasta salads and sometimes its a bit of mish-mash: lettuce, olives, sweetcorn, cheese, cucumber. I add a bit of salad dressing so it isn' so dry. You could also try quinoa - its a bit like couscous but I believe its technically a seed or grain, so its carb-like, but technically protein. Most supermarkets sell it in the health food aisle.
Lolly your talk about nails has just inspired me to paint my nails. I have a colour from Lidl that I recently bought and enjoy wearing. I like the sound of the grey nail varnish, which make is it?
maman well done with fab Thursday! I normally have my parcels sent to work as nobody is at home during the day. In saying that, I ordered MIL's Xmas present to be sent home (as it was a big heavy box and I commute on public transport) and it arrived in the evening, when OH got in from work, so that was quite lucky. I hope your package comes at a convenient time.
Today I'm working from home. I have a document to write and thought it would be better to do so without interruption. I normally don't like working from home as I'm easily distracted, but its been quite nice to lie in bed with my laptop. I did treat myself to lunch at IKEA (meatballs with mash) and got to take advantage of the free coffee and Wifi, so I was able to work.0 -
Hi everyone, I got all fabbed up (warmly) and went for my trial at the CS, the manager and her assistant were lovely and I had a great time:D. I had several sessions on the till on my own while they got on with other stuff and having taken notes to refer back to I did quite a lot of transactions and managed the CC machine without problems 3 times. I must have passed OK as they have asked me to go on a Wednesday morning regularly:)
Grabbed a take away salad lunch and took it to my knitting group for the afternoon, they are such great people and so talented, far beyond my skills, but I don't see it any form of competition, so no problem.
PT today and some household chores and I am shattered now, I hope that my stamina will improve in time, will need to pace myself.
I did buy myself a lovely navy Nicole Fahhri skirt (using my staff discount:D), my best girl friend, who also does sessions in a CS, has told me I shall have to give myself an allowance:rotfl:, OH told her he would send me out without any money next week, he had better be joking! The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Hello everyone
I'm TheDapster, I used to post here with a different name a few months ago but lost my way.
I hope you'll let me come back, albeit infrequently, and I'll try to keep up!
I've Kondoed my clothes in the last few months so I haven't got much left, and I'm still not sure what suits me!
Thanks very much for the links to Kettlewell, I had a look and I really like some of their things tho they're a bit pricy for me.
I had my colours done many many years ago, I was a Winter - I don't suppose that will have changed much will it? My hair's grey now where it used to be brown.
So I'm going to keep an eye on Kettlewell and if I can get something in the sale to try out I'll do that.
I'm also interested in the 'clothing personality' bit, it makes sense - looking at different sites I seem to fall into the sporty/classic/minimalist groups - I'd like to be boho but I think I just look silly as I haven't got the chutzpah to pull it off successfully
Anyway enough of my rambling, thank you so much for posting your thoughts and ideas, it really helps!
Cheers

Good to see you dapster. Now you'll have us all guessing what your old name was!;)
There's a lot of toned down boho stuff out there at the moment, especially furry waistcoats and fringed scarves that sort of thing.
:T on your interview Maddie, hope you enjoy yourself working at the CS. Lucky you finding a Farhi skirt of your first day.
Hope you didn't have the giant portion of meatballs chanie! I often pop into the restaurant at our Ikea when I'm in town. It's lovely and light and if I can get a seat by the window I'm happy. Generally I have a coffee and the gravlax and leaves as a quick snack but often tempted by other things:o.
I've spent all day (except for grabbing a jacket potato at lunchtime) writing emails, making calls and typing up documents and I'm still not finished. I plan to do one last email and print off something I need to read carefully then I've done my bit for the day I think.
Hope you all have a good evening:).0 -

I live in jeans, flat shoes & jumpers at work and at the weekend, I own a dress but rarely wear it. I don't 'do' makeup. Last week I bought a lovely maroon maxi skirt and a fringed 'blanket' and I just about get away with wearing them with flat ankle boots. If I stand up straight :rotfl:
Mid-life crisis at 55! :rotfl:
I need Trinny & Susanna to sort me out :rotfl:0 -
maddie I'm pleased to hear your CS session went well. Your knitting club makes me want to start again!!! I can knit, but I've never done anything beyond small booties as I get bored easily.
dapster welcome. Your talk about style personality reminds me that I did an online quizz and I'm a natural, which is spot on. I do enjoy clothes, but I don't like anything fussy and most importantly, I need to feel comfortable in what I wear. I cringe when I see Victoria Beckham as she always looks really uncomfortable in clothes that constantly need fixing when she sits or stands.
maman I had a small portion of meatballs and I had it with mash, so wasn't too unhealthy. I've been wanting the meatballs for a while now, but don't get much child free time. Dd calls ikea the 'ice cream shop' as I normally get her a 50p cone when we go. It took me a while to work out what she meant after much frustration on her part.0 -
Thank you for all the lunch selections. Hot food is not really an option as I am out and about so it needs to be something grab and go although I have been aiming to have soup when I am in the house.
Maman Although my boots are comfortable they have a high heel so not really what you are looking for. Easy to wear all day however I would not like to walk long distances in them.
My weight loss is ticking along nicely and I lost another 2 lbs so that is 4 lbs off in three weeks which is steady enough for my longterm plan. I have about 2 stone to lose so that should be manageable if I just tweak a few things here and there.
Maddie I go to a knitting group too and there are a number of very talented and fast knittersCrafting is such a pleasant (if occasionally frustrating
) pastime and I love anything yarn related. Just looked out my sewing machine too.

Hello and welcome back
I think the idea with the seasons is you don't change as you age but you might find different colours within the season suit you better as your hair lightens etc.
Kettlewell usually do a decent sale post Christmas. Not everything will go in it - some styles have been popular year after year - but my prior experience has been that a fair percentage will end up at 50% off in late December. I'll be checking what's on offer then for sure. It is pricey but the quality is pretty good, I've got tops I have had for a good few years that still look good as new.0 -
Hi chanie its check matte miss sporty, it was only £1.99 I'm not wanting to spend too much on nail varnish until I see how I get on with it, I'm quite lazy when it comes to my hands.konMarie and fabbing all the way
